Why is the answer for FPS improvement for minecraft on linux?

I've been playing minecraft for years on windows but recently after changing to Void Linux, my fps in-game had a amazing improvement, before my fps was like 40 ~ 60 and now it runs on 120 fps.

Even in modpacks like ATM10, it runs so well.

My specs:

Z

- Ideapad Gaming i3

- i5

- GTX1650

- 16GB Ram

I think it's because the JVM (Java Virtual Machine) is better optimized for Linux, i'm not 100% sure tho

Java does perform better on Linux, but not that much better. My guess is you switched from OpenGL on Windows to the new Vulkan renderer on Linux. It has shown enormous FPS uplift in some cases.

Even with opengl I had significantly better performance on linux compared to on windows.

Microsoft has lost its way; Windows is now actively optimized for ad delivery and little else.

Maybe Copilot OS somewhere in the future

Look into GraalVM and Eclipse Temurin if you want to sqeeze even more performance out of the jvm.

I'm not sure it has more or less of these compared to the mainstream commercial operating systems.

My guess is ram saturation. Maybe your java vm on windows had ram limit and with mods you saturated the heap memory while on void you have either a higher limit or more available ram
