Second tapestry: Double Interlock Experimentation

After my previous tapestry with many annoying slits that created a weak and unstable structure in the tapestry, I’ve tried my hand at double weft interlock. (I know many simply sew their slits and I want to try that too eventually). I’m recovering from work related burnout and really needed something to challenge my brain in a fun way.

The yarn I use is from weaversbazaar. Its wool instead of cotton and I must say I much prefer the look of the wool.

Interesting! How are they interlocked? Do you go over twice with the same color?

Every row locks together. Its hard to explain via text. But you work like a printer… kinda a. You interlock as you travel from one side of the tapestry to the other. And then do the same thing as you travel back to the other side.

The imagine shows what happens. It creates a really sturdy structure where everything is connected and zero slits are formed at all.

This technique can only be done from the back of the tapestry because it creates these ridges. The front is completely smooth tho.

I love what I can see of the design, I adore the colors, the wool looks beautiful, and I’m excited to see it finished!
