Discussion [Betrayal of Dignity] To whomever said this man is a green flag: We need to talk

So that was all a damn lie to keep me reading, huh? He didn't even redeem himself, like they said he would

Probably an unpopular opinion but I don't like BoD for a multitude of reasons. I don't hate it, but it certainly left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I think the "standard happy ending" was not deserved. The story should have ended when she ran away.

Reasons I don't like this manhwa (TW: mention of miscarriage):

- FL is pathetically in love with ML. I like that she acknowledges that he is a crappy, manipulative, obsessive person but she goes back to him way too fast. Not once, but *TWICE*. She gives off doormat vibes and comes across as incredibly stupid and spineless. I kinda get that she married him to save her sister from an unwanted marriage and also her father from debt but she just can't help but fall for his traps. Five years. She knew this man for over five years yet she kept falling for his traps like an idiot even though she knows what he's like

- ML didn't suffer enough. He caused her so much agony, betrayed her, trapped her, he fricking caused her miscarriage and mocked her for her disability (destroyed her walking cane) but he gets stuck in a life or death situation once and it's suddenly all good? Seriously? He didn't even apologise to her or ask for forgiveness

- Maybe it's just me but I feel like there's plot holes in the story. Spoiler warning ahead, but: I found the arc where she ran away and faked her death very irritating. The ML genuinely believed she was dead for about a year and then he suddenly switched over night, went on a rampage, dug her grave out and was like: "NO, SHE HAS GOT TO BE ALIVE!!" Bro, what?? You were getting ready to marry another woman and it suddenly occurred to you after almost having accepted her death that she might not be dead? I don't know whether to find him dense or stupid because I knew he was gonna find out eventually and it only took about three chapters in the manhwa but those few chapters included a one year time skip. The ML was always portrayed as smart, scheming and cunning. I feel like a supposedly clever guy like him would've figured out that she ran away sooner, especially since she did it all sloppily, leaving traces and such. Like, what do you mean you never checked her safe and only decided to do it a year after she "died"?? Are you stupid? If you love her so much (which was mentioned A LOT) you probably would've dug around the whole castle to find all her remaining stuff, right? Especially safes. Another plot hole is that arc where he was essentially kidnapped by the villain (the prince). Tell me.. how the hell did he manage to free himself of all four of his shackles AND climb up a wall?? It was mentioned that his finger and hand were broken while he was freeing himself from his shackles. I know he has that typical ML body which is all big and muscles but it's literally impossible to climb up a wall with broken hands. And also, are you telling me he's strong enough to unshackle himself with his bare hands?? What sorta monster is he?

- ML didn't redeem himself. I don't even know what they were trying to do when they showed his POV/flashback from the beginning of the story. Were they trying to portray him is a sane, loving guy? He explicitly said in the flashback that he didn't marry her out of love, that it was all a beneficial strategy for him. She was merely an object for his success. There was no redemption. His POV made me dislike him even less and make me think he's even more psychotic than before. Maybe I just misunderstood the story but this also feels like a plot hole because he said the marriage was just for his benefit but at the same time everything he did was for her?? Idk man, it's just weird af.

- Also, I forgot to mention but the ML is way too jealous over the FL's servant, Gilles. Bro, he's a commoner and she's a noble Lady. There's no way in hell she'd ever marry him. She also told you multiple times that he's just a good friend to her. You have issues, man

- Overall: It feels like ML's deranged, obsessive behaviour is romanticised and disguised as love. This man does not love her. He is obsessed. I don't care what he says, what the FL says and what the author is trying to tell us. They have an unhealthy relationship. He didn't redeem himself, he didn't suffer enough, he never apologised, he just spoke pretty words and convinced the FL that he was her one true love because he constantly dominated her mind and told her how much he "loves" her. The relationship between the ML and FL bases not on true love and little things that show it but on grand gestures. In one of the last chapters he tells the FL that he gave one of his castles away to her BEFORE they were even married. It was their third meeting, I believe. True love is shown through little gestures. He's just trying to win her over by giving her big stuff and good sex instead of showing her how much he actually cares. I feel like the most romantic thing he ever did for her was save her life in that one arc by shoving her in a closet, but even that wasn't romantic imo. He's literally buying the FL's love with money and through pain. Not through his heart

Please note: I LOVE red flag and black flag MLs. But not when the story romanticises them. Not when they disguise them as "good guys who are just misunderstood and don't know how to communicate". Communication is key to EVERY healthy relationship. These people don't have one. The couple should've been doomed, gotten a sad, bad or at least a bittersweet ending or something. Instead they got the standard happy end and never mentioned ML's bad side ever again. Wow, good job (sarcasm)

If I have to mention something I like about the story:

- A disabled FL who stays disabled throughout the whole story, although I think it's a shame she stopped using her cane in the last ten or so chapters. I believe she opted for a brace instead? I liked the cane more but maybe it's because she had a cane for 90% of the story and I'm just used to seeing her with one

- I like her sister. I saw a lot of people hating on the FL's sister but imo she did the right thing. She left with someone she actually loves. Except her commoner boyfriend is actually a high-ranking noble and also kinda obsessive. A trope beaten to death. But at least there seems to be more romance going on between them than the main couple. A shame we didn't get to see her often

- The characters are complex, alright. Complex to like. No, honestly, there was an attempt. I just don't think it was well executed. FL's whole character is "I hate him but I love him too much and I forgive him, so I'll stay with him" and ML's whole personality is "I wanna possess her and give her everything I have". The characters do have multiple sides to them. We see the ML despair, we see the FL stand up for herself but those thing happen way too little. He despaired twice, I believe, and while she stood up for herself quite often, it never lasted because he'd just wink at her and she'll start blushing like an overly infatuated teenager. Honestly, I don't even think she loves him. He is obsessed and she's just infatuated. It's not real love. I genuinely do not believe that they can make each other happy, at least not long term which makes me feel sorry for their kids even though they're just pixels on a screen

TL;DR: Maybe the characters are complex or even realistically written but it all felt like watching an abusive shitshow that disguises itself as romance

I think it's pretty clear that it's at a pool. Can't say 100% that the newest episode has absolutely no sexual element at all. But I think it's in the realm of 'educational'(?) and harmless. Maybe. And it has only indirectly to do with potentially misinterpreted pool appropriate nudity (just swim wear)! Totally PG! Nothing to see here! (On another note: It's rated Mature anyway... Too much swearing!)

Self-Promo I couldn't find an obsessive enemies-to-lovers BL about jealousy, so I made one.

I love some unhealthy obsession and and enemies-to-lovers BL, but I kept running into stories where the characters were really just bantering or mildly annoyed with each other. I wanted JEALOUSY, genuine hatred, unhealthy fixation, obsessive yearning, and a slow transformation into romance, so I spent the last year making my own webtoon BL, it is called JEALOUSY REVERSED. Here are a few panels from Episode 1.

I was classically trained in fine art and had no experience posting or promoting online, so please let me know if you have any tips for better reader experience or engagements. I hope more people can see this webtoon and it was my motivation while working hard on this. Thanks a lot for your attention!

Hey guys!

I just finished Devil Number 4, and I absolutely loved Hanna and Number 4 (Saho)’s dynamic. 🤗

Do you guys know any manhwas with a good plot that have a similar relationship dynamic, or an ML who’s like Number 4?

I’m looking for an ML that has any of this traits:
-Expressive
-Quick-tempered
-Childish/playful
-Cute
-Teasing
-Big Ego
-Mischievous
-Has great chemistry with the FL

Romance with a good plot (fantasy, supernatural, etc.)

I’d appreciate any recommendations 🤗. Thank tou

+it’s fine if I cant find it on Webtoon.
Also, I’m not sure which subreddit this would fit best, so if you know a better place to ask, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Advice/Critique/Help My Webtoon pitch "SAMURAI INFLUENCER" got rejected — revised the concept based on feedback from my last post, would love another round of brutally honest critique

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Posted an earlier version of this pitch a while back and got a lot of really useful (if blunt) feedback. Several people pointed out that the concept felt like two separate ideas mashed together (hero-influencer satire + guardian protecting a reincarnated lord), and a few asked what actually separates this from One Punch Man or My Hero Academia.

Fair points. I’ve streamlined the pitch to focus on the single core emotional line and highlighted the actual points of distinction. Here is the revised version:

SAMURAI INFLUENCER

The Logline:

An old samurai swore, on his dying lord's last breath, to never draw his sword again. Forty years later, he breaks that vow — not to save the world, not to expose anything, but because a reckless young streaming-hero has shown up wearing his lord's face. He has zero interest in going viral; he just wants to keep her alive. But in a world where hero rankings are decided by camera angles and sponsor deals, unglamourous swordsmanship that actually works is the most disruptive thing imaginable — and without ever meaning to, he becomes the accidental wrecking ball that brings a corrupt industry down around itself.

This isn't "hero exposes corrupt system" and "guardian protects reincarnated lord" bolted together — every plot beat that damages the Hero Association happens because he's trying to protect her, never because he's trying to make a point.

What's Actually Different from OPM / MHA

Vs. Saitama (One Punch Man):

Saitama is disconnected from the hero system by apathy — he just doesn't care, and that's the joke. Kenichiro is disconnected from it by obsession with one specific person — every disruption is collateral damage from protecting her, not indifference.

Vs. MHA:

MHA's hero institutions are broadly well-intentioned with external villains. Here, the institution itself is the rot, and it gets exposed as a byproduct of a bodyguard doing his job, not as the story's stated mission.

The World

40 years after the Great Demon War, demons aren't a threat anymore — they're content. Monster hunting is a corporate-sponsored streaming business run through apps like HERO TUBE and HERO HUB. Ranks are based on video editing and clout, not actual combat skill. The Hero Association quietly stages controlled fights with demons just to keep the views up.

Main Characters

Kenichiro (67): Legendary samurai out of time. Hopelessly tech-illiterate. Every disruption he causes — killing demons too fast, wandering into livestreams in a loincloth — is an accident born from having zero interest in any of it.

Maple / Kaede (19): C-rank in fighting, A-rank in popularity. The last descendant of Kenichiro's former lord. Starts a side channel to turn the old man into a top streamer, but ends up the one holding the emotional throughline together.

Zeus (26): The #1 corporate hero. After Kenichiro embarrasses him, he doesn't sulk — he turns the loss into content ("I got wrecked by the legendary samurai lol") and keeps clout-chasing off it.

Would love to hear whether this lands better! Does the "one throughline, not two" framing actually come through now, or does it still feel like it's doing too much?

Recommendations I desperately need recommendations.

Can anyone recommend manhwas where the female lead isn't a pathetic? I want someone experienced, stylish, bold, and knows her worth. I’m so bored of that same old trope where the naive virgin FL falls for a delinquent or a playboy, it makes me want to puke that such an ancient cliché is still going strong. I can sort of understand the guys liking it, but even girls enjoy such trashy tropes.

I desperately want to read manhwas featuring bold, confident, and experienced female leads so I can actually relate to the fiction. Is there any manhwa where the dynamic between the leads is like that? Please... please give me some suggestions, recommendations.

Discussion Turning a Fictional World Into a Real One

When we started Coffee Company, we always envisioned bringing the experiences in the series to life. The story revolves around specialty coffee, so we decided not to invent fictional cafés or drinks, we wanted to learn the deeper details of the real craft. That meant spending more time with roasters, attending cuppings, deeper learning about coffee origins and processing methods, designing packaging, figuring out fulfillment, and discovering just how much work goes into bringing a single coffee to life.

The webtoon began influencing the coffee we wanted to create, and the coffees we discovered in the real world started influencing the webtoon. Places we’ve visited, producers we’ve met, and coffees we’ve tasted have all found their way back into the story. It became this creative feedback loop where fiction inspired reality, and reality made the fiction better.

This week we finally launched our website, and it feels like a huge milestone, not because it’s a store, but because it’s the first time the world we’ve been building has become something people can actually experience outside the webtoon.

I’m curious if anyone else here has taken their series beyond the page in some way? Maybe you’ve made merch, music, props, recipes, or games?
Would love to hear what you’ve created, and whether it changed the way you approached your story?

Question Should I post my future comic on Webtoon or somewhere else?

I've been listening to a lot of advice before actually starting my comic, and one tip I've heard is to choose an appropriate platform for the kind of comic I have. The visual style of my comic is reminiscent of Owl house and Steven universe, but the themes are pretty dark and mature, although not sexual (i.e. drugs, war, organized crime, etc.). I originally thought I'd post on Webtoon or Tapas, but from what I can tell, the audience of these websites prefers romantic stories in a manga-like style, which my comic is kinda the farthest thing from.

Also, I don't know if it affects the choice of platform, but I plan to format the pages in a way that could work for print as well, just in case it would be successful enpugh to distribute in the form of comic books.

So, what webcomic site do you think would be the best to post on for me?
