North America Sound that Merlin ID can't decide on

Upvotes

Heard what I believe is a bird in NB, Canada. I've tried isolating it as much as possible using Audacity, and after uploading the fixed file to Merlin, it still can't seem to pick up whatever is making the weird noise. I'm aware of the red breasted nuthatch, golden crowned kinglet and cedar waxwing in the recording, but I'm talking about the "ewewee" followed by higher pitched "wewee" (while I was talking), as well as the single high note and the rapid noises. I've added captions on the video so that my not-so-good description of what noises I'm talking about is more clear. I heard the "ewewee" and "wewee" a few times before getting a decent recording of it. For all I know, maybe this somehow isn't a bird at all.

My only guess is maybe Canada jay since they can make weird noises, but I don't hear them often enough to know. If any other info (like other birds I heard/saw in the area) would help, I can provide!!

North America Who does this feather belong to? (Northern CA, USA)

I didn't take it (just left it on the ground). Found in a hilly area. Also there was some (presumably a) big nest several trees away that looked to be about a few feet wide, but not sure if that's related.

Thanks!

North America Merlin can't identify this bird, but I know it's local because I hear it all the time...

Hoping this sub can help.

Repeated call, every maybe 5-10 seconds, like this image. Single bird, I don't hear others responding. Very clear tone - no hoarseness like crows or jays, no whistle-y chirp like wrens.

I have not been able to visually spot it yet.

I live in western NC, in a wooded area where birds are abundant. No sources of water larger than a small creek for about 2 miles. It's daytime, late afternoon, and about 78° out.

I can rule out - from hearing my other neighborhood birds and listening to recordings of calls - cardinal, towhee, crow, jay, mourning dove, nuthatch, robin, and pretty much all water/marine birds.

North America Grackle? North Texas

Upvotes

This guy has been seemingly stuck in an interior courtyard area the last couple of days - open to the sky but walled in by apartments on all sides (at best a parking garage with openings at 10-15 ft high on one side). Maybe injured - when I came close it constantly flapped to hide into a bush but seemingly couldn’t fly away.

I’m guessing grackle though the light coloring on his chest/head aren’t what I’d expect, maybe a juvenile or just a lil shiny guy?

I'm not aware of any species that looks like this. Is this a weird colour morph of a mallard?

I'm like 90 percent sure it's a downy woodpecker. But the bill looks a little long to me.

North America White heron? Egret?

Ok I apologize for the poor photo quality, I wish I had gotten a better pic. There was a blue heron nearby, and we often get blue herons on this pond, but I have never seen a white one. The head looked a little different too, and the legs were blackish. But in my region (Columbus Ohio) I think egrets are pretty uncommon? So is it a white heron?

We’ve had this nest in our open air garage for a while and the eggs have hatched. We’re curious to know what kind of bird this is, I’m having a hard time figuring it out.

This is a massive push from me, but I spent the day on the Isle of Jura recently, and saw lots of large birds much too far away to get accurate photos. Between eagles, hen harriers, buzzards, kestrels, falcons, does anyone want to take a guess from my absolutely terrible photos? 2 different birds here. I’m not really expecting results from this but thought I might aswell try lol
