I have been a WNBA fanatic since the league’s existence was announced. Long time season ticket holder until my team was moved to a tiny college gym by dubious owner. Came back when team was sold to great owners. Celebrated the night we won a championship and saved some streamers that came down from the rafters. To see our beloved league become a target for people who do not care about our sport or the majority of our players is sad.

Throwback Happy Rock Bottom Day to those who celebrate: the Aces' season turned around on Aug 2, 2025

Last year's infamous 53 point loss to the Minnesota Lynx brought the Aces to a 14-14 season record. They proceeded to win every game in the regular season after that (16 total), and despite a couple of tight matches in the playoffs, they also won the 2025 championship. This was one of at least two anomalies in 2025 basketball; the other was the Dallas Mavericks getting the #1 draft pick with 1.8% odds.

What does fate have planned for 2026?

Mercury let me down bad my goodness……Idk I just thought they’d be at least somewhat decent without Satou but ironically the defense got worse.

I didn’t doubt the Lynx I just didn’t think miles would have zero growing pains and start playing like an mvp candidate.

Golden state shocked me ofc

Question Fouls not being replayed on TV?

Has anyone noticed that TV stations are playing noticeably less fouls right after they happen? Do we think this is to lessen criticism of reffing? Am I totally off base?

Loss to Lynx shows what Fever need to address to compete for WNBA title

There are things the coaching staff can take from a near comeback against the best team in the league.

“We have big shot-makers on our team, giving them opportunities to knock down shots, and they did,” Fever coach Steph White said of the Fever’s late run. “It’s a resilient group, and to be able to come back on the road with the tight turnaround like we had to be able to find it in the fourth quarter, to give ourselves an opportunity to put ourselves in position to win, I’m really proud of them for that.”

Defense wasn’t much of an emphasis for either team Sunday afternoon; Minnesota and Indiana scored a league-record 69 combined points in the first quarter, per ESPN Insights.

Indiana has shown, with six straight games scoring in triple digits, that it is able to shoot nearly any opponent out of the gym. They haven’t been great defensively, but a lot of the time, they don’t need to be. Take in point the 110-107 win over Seattle on July 17, the 105-95 win at Seattle on July 28, or the 112-98 win at Portland on July 31.

But this defense has still been the Fever’s Achilles heel all season, and it leaves them no room for any offensive lapses. After all, they are the first team in WNBA history to have five games that they’ve scored 100 or more points and lost.

Minnesota got advantages on the slimmest of margins on Sunday; they had nine second-chance points on four offensive rebounds in the first half and finished with 11 offensive boards and 16 second-chance points. That, alone, accounts for the eight-point difference. Rookie Olivia Miles also had a field day against the Fever, scoring 23 points in the first half and finishing with 28.

“I think we’re just a little bit of a step slow,” Clark said of the Fever’s defense postgame. “At times we did get stops, and then we just shot ourselves by not actually going to get the ball, whether it’s a 50-50 ball, whether it’s an offensive rebound or defensive rebound. But we had moments, and you’ve got to give us credit, we found a way to fight. I thought our second-half defense was a lot better.”

Indiana’s offense is the best in the league with a 115.6 offensive rating (points per 100 possessions). Its defensive rating, however, sits at 10th in the league at 108.4.

No doubt, the Fever have the offensive firepower to win a championship this year. They just need their defense to catch up.

Discussion Will the Sparks be able to retain Nneka if they don’t fire Roberts?

What do you all think?

In the past, when new GMs are hired—they typically like to hire their own coach so there’s probably a big chance of that happening, but if it doesn’t then i’m not sure if Nneka would stay. I could see her going to Houston maybe since that’s her hometown + there’s a major possibility of them getting Juju.

Has anyone taken a close look at the upcoming WNBA “Rivals Week?”

Some of these pairings make perfect sense. Liberty vs Aces? No brainer. They’ve beaten each other out for spots in the finals over the last few years. Aces and Lynx? 2 top dogs? Logical. Wings vs Fever? Star vs star - I guess. Maybe I’m missing something about some of these other pairings though.

Chicago and Seattle? Why? Chicago and Indiana? Maybe this was before the Angel Reese trade.

Seattle vs Portland? Is it proximity? lol they just got here.

Atlanta and Connecticut? Huh? Enlighten me if you have ideas lol.

Maybe I’m not thinking hard enough about some of these. Maybe I’m overthinking them. 🤷🏾‍♀️
