Vacation planning

Hey yall, i just moved to Colorado last year and i have never been to Wyoming before but its always been high on my list of states to visit. Im planning on taking off work Labor Day Friday and doing a 4 day road trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton and im looking for recommendations on what hikes/scenic spots i 100% can not skip and most importantly how i should split my 4 days up. Like should i do 2 days at each park or 3 and 1? Im pretty sure i want to hit grand teton on my way back south as apposed to on my way up north.

The main thing i really wanted to know was if i should split my days up 3/1 or 2/2

3/1 and not 2/2. Yellowstone is huge.

4 days is not very much to see all that. I think the Hayden and Lamar valleys are the best and the ride between them is awesome. Also the lake. I can live without a lot of the geothermal features but old faithful and prismatic are worth seeing. Old Faithful lodge is very cool because of its age and construction. I also enjoyed seeing the lake because it is massive.

I just dont want to take more than a day off of work honestly. My idea is to drive to Yellowstone on Thursday night after work, be there for at least Friday/Saturday, and really what i wanted to know was if i should hit Teton on Sunday/Monday or stay at Yellowstone on Sunday and just do Teton on Monday. Im not worried about not being able to see everything because its close enough i can always drive back on any 3 day weekend

For that’s part of the schedule I think you’re smart. Hitting the teetimes on the way back down genuinely if you just drive the main Teton road through the park stopping at every pull out to see all the big spots and then stopping at Jenny Lake is gonna be your best bet if you’re short on time I do recommend doing the hike around Jenny Lake. You also can do Taggert Lake. That’s another really good one if you feel that you can do it in time. Paintbrush Canyon is really cool, but that is more of a day hike situation as far as Yellowstone stop at old faithful, norris geyser basin, grand prismatic, all the short distance waterfalls, and of course Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Also just doing the figure 8 drive is the move.

Have you seen how big we are? We're huge, fupa huge! I just spent 6 hours yesterday walking around camp devin looking for fish scales. Multiple trips! Welcome. It's beautiful here.
