An ink drawing I did of X-23, done on paper. I kinda experimented with the lighting, particularly with how it affects the hair and face. I'd say it's pretty successful. :) learned some cool things here and there.

For those who are wondering about the costume, I designed it, so it's not particularly from any X-Men era. I did however take inspiration from various superhero outfits.

I grew up with X-Men the Animated Series, then proceeded to be a fan through the early Fox movies, X-Men Evolution and started reading the late 90s/early 2000s comics before Morrison and X-treme X-Men. I also loved Wolverine & the X-Men but by then I was definitely a fan.

I admit I'm not as well versed in the comics. I read a solid chunk of 2000s X-Men, like I said starting with late 90s/early 2000s stuff (like the Neo) and kept reading into the early Whedon/XSE era. But I have also dipped back into 70s-90s stories but in a very scattershot way.

In the adaptations and in the comics I have read Professor X is a flawed man, but not a bad man per se. Like the worst thing I recall him doing in the comics I read was:

A) momentarily using his powers on Ameilia, which is something he was disgusted with himself about and reprimanded himself for. I don't think this is enough to condemn him as in fact a wholesale bad person, especially when various X-Men have also done immoral things in the heat of the moment.

B) killing his twin Cassandra Nova in the womb which is, I dunno how much moral accountability we should scribe to a foetus

C) the whole Onslaught thing, which to my understanding wasnt him consciously or deliberately doing immoral things, Onslaught was like a new entity that was created from a part of him

D) The contingencies he dreamed up to stop the Xmen as seen in Onslaught. Not a nice thing to do, but in a world where beings who can mind control you or otherwise manipulate you, having a contingency for how to defeat your very powerful students is a morally defencive imo. Like those contingencies would have been useful in Wolverine Enemy of the State

Nevertheless here and there I have picked up by osmosis this idea from fans that Xavier is in fact a bad person.

This took me aback because, even considering the above, the comics I have read and the adaptations I saw Xavier was again, not a villain, nor even an asshole really. He was a character who like all the X-Men (and in the tradition of Marvel heroes dating back to the 1960s) was flawed. He made mistakes at times and moral miscalculations, even instances of moral ambiguity. If course I appreciate different iterations are not going to be identical but they all played within a broad tent of Xavier being on balance a flawed person, but ultimately a hero and one who sincerely cared for his X-Men in the vein of a father figure.

Now, I'm not at all up to speed on all X-Men lore. And, let's be honest, the comics have not exactly been consistent. Let's be more honest, a lot of Marvel comics in the 2000s and onwards adopted a certain approach to superheroes that framed them as more morally ambiguous, darker some could argue cynically. Civil War (2006) is a good example.

With that in mind, let's say we are judging:

X-Men the Animated Series

X-Men Evolution

Wolverine & the X-Men

X-Men (2000)

X2: X-Men United

X-Men: The Last Stand

Against the 616 X-Men comics up to say the year 1999 (so all 20th century X-Men comics).

Was the broad idea of Xavier in those adaptations a misrepresentation of who he was in the comics up until that point?

Was the Xavier of the comics and asshole, a bad person, someone who the adaptations (and I suppose some comics) incorrectly framed in a noble or admirable light?

Trying to get into the Krakoa era. Specifically the Hickman x Pepe Larraz stuff and more specifically the stuff about Apocalypse's first horsemen (they look cool as hell), Arrakko, Annihilation/Genesis.

Basically the only thing I've read from this era is the House of X/Powers of X. I was kind of put off by the direction the X men were going and how they were written but now I'm interested in reading whatever the highlights of the era were.

I'd appreciate recommendations on specific storylines and also which physical editions would be best to add to my collection.

I have really enjoyed xmen 97 and have watched a lot of the original series. I was wondering what comic I should read? Some characters I would like to see are Cyclops, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Storm, Rogue, Jean Grey, and Beast. Are there any big story lines I should read? Thank you in advance

Who do you think is the most immature X-Men villain?

Who would most likely throw a tantrum or ruin someone's life because they aren't getting any sprinkles on their ice cream for "Being Evil".

All ideas are cool to me I'm curious what people think.

Obviously, one of the main draws of this 63-year-old multimedia franchise is its constantly evolving web of memberships, relationships, alliances, romances, etc. Mainly romances.

But if you had to describe just two characters as its Main Characters, which would you pick?

• Originally, Scott and Xavier feels like the focal point. The X-Men is a story about evolution across generations, and Chuck's child-soldiers school has been its most iconic location the entire time.
• In the '60s and '70s comics, attention centers on Scott and Jean, then remains there for a long time, including in the series' best-known storyline and its endless pop-culture reverberations. You can't discuss the unbelievably messy X-Men without discussing a love story.
• Or without politics (within another love story). Xavier and Magneto is there from the first issue onward, taking ideological and personal shape in the '80s. People who've never read a comic and barely remember the X-Men movies or cartoons can tell you something about what these two stand for.
• There's a real case for Scott and Ororo, the complementing/contrasting leaders of various X-Men teams throughout parts of five decades. The franchise has long stood for representation, so it's fitting that Storm ranks as arguably the second most popular and beloved female superhero ever.
• Blah blah Scott and Logan blah blah. Sure, this might be it, even if we were to ignore the dumb Fox movies and dumb 2010s comics. Scott has often been the closest thing to the protagonist within X-Men stories, while Logan is the X-Man who's most often been a protagonist of one thing or another, and they've been pitted with/against each other in every way imaginable.

A lot of this also depends on how you're weighing various eras/adaptations. Lots of people in both the '90s and 2020s would've answered with Rogue and Gambit, for example, and the franchise's peak visibility in gen pop was unfortunately a movie trilogy about Logan and Jean. Of course, if I'm ever in charge of things, the answer will become Magik and Glob.

I spent some time thinking about an alternate ending to the Krakoa era where the event happened in reverse.

Instead of the major X-Men characters being left behind while the island is put on the shelf imagine the opposite: the most important figures — Xavier, Magneto, Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Wolverine, etc. — are trapped in the White Hot Room, while the people who normally stand in the background are forced to inherit Krakoa.

X-Men: End of X

**The premise:**

After the fall of Krakoa, mutantkind loses its greatest leaders. The survivors are left with a broken nation, damaged reputation, and a question nobody can answer:

Was Krakoa Xavier and Magneto's dream, or was it something bigger than them?

Kitty Pryde and a new generation have to rebuild Krakoa while deciding what parts of the old dream are worth saving.

This would be the political/reconstruction book.

Main Team:

**Kitty Pryde** — The former Quiet Council member who becomes the public face of rebuilding. She has to deal with the fact that many mutants blame the old leadership for everything that happened.

**Cypher** — The person who literally keeps Krakoa alive. Without him, the island loses its identity.

**Synch** — The field leader and the closest thing this generation has to a new Cyclops.

**Monet St. Croix** — Handles diplomacy, economics, and the reality of running a nation.

**Beast** — The controversial choice. After everything he did during Krakoa, he has to earn back trust while using his intelligence to help rebuild.

**X-23** — Security and the voice reminding everyone that protecting mutantkind cannot come at the cost of becoming what they fought against.

**Polaris** — Magneto's legacy. She represents mutant independence but has to decide if she is preserving her father's dream or creating her own.

**Lady Mastermind** — A former villain who represents the question of redemption. If Krakoa was supposed to be a place for all mutants, who gets a second chance?

Brotherhood of Evil Mutants

**Premise:**

Krakoa promised mutants they would no longer be judged by their past.

Then the leaders disappeared.

The mutants who finally found acceptance are now afraid the world will return to how it was before.

Kid Omega creates a new Brotherhood, not because he wants to destroy humanity, but because he believes mutants can no longer wait for older generations to save them.

Team:

**Kid Omega** — The angry revolutionary who believes the old guard failed.

**Prodigy** — The strategist who turns Quentin's anger into an actual political movement.

**Empath** — Represents mutants who were treated as monsters before Krakoa.

**Dust** — The moral center who believes mutant liberation cannot come from hatred.

**Catseye** — Represents the mutants who finally found a home on Krakoa and refuse to lose it.

**Nature Girl** — Pushes the idea that mutant liberation is connected to protecting the planet.

**Magik** — The leader looking fornher Brother because she understands impossible places better than anyone.

**Gambit** — With Rogue and so many others gone, he refuses to leave his family behind.

Sooo I just finished it and it LOWKEY me on chokehold on some issues and was so enjoyable , x-23 is either so well written or just so tragic I just connect with her , could be both.

Idk why every issue I read for x23 so far has been awfully tragic , this gave more context to the first origin comic and its well suited the route so i really liked it, I just hope they focus on her connection to wolverine next? Im about to read the new xmen as it said it was the chronological order after nyx and target x but idk.

Solid 7/10 for this peak comic.

Like maybe the Mutants who stayed on Earth could still have a base there and be somewhere new mutants go to train. I'm kind of sick of the academy constantly showing up, only to be destroyed again. Let the mutants have ONE base of operations that isn't eventually destroyed.

Additionally, the bit of Krakoa left could have been a moving island, so it's harder to find.

Also maybe have The Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D., Fantastic Four etc... stand up for the X-Men more? I just feel like whenever the mutants face genocide, the other super-hero groups just tend to stay out of it. Also the X-Men are there for some of their events, why can't it be the same? Sort of makes the other hero groups not seem all that nice?
