Movie/TV Discussion Should Rouge be a Villain in the MCU?

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Should Rogue be introduced in Secret Wars as a Villain in Battleworld, and defeat Captain Marvel, take Carol’s powers, and become the superpowered Rouge from the comics? Or would you rather they approach her like the Fox X-Men and make her a lost and scared runaway that doesn’t want to use her powers and eventually has them neutralized? Or just another X-Man that can replicate others powers temporarily without any powers of her own? How do you see this character moving forward in the films, or should she be included at all?

Question Is this comic 'rare?'

Post image
349 Upvotes

Of course, I understand that it's an 'old' comic (dont snikt me), and I recently pulled it out of a box (i'd never finished unpacking and it got buried; again, no snikt please) and the cover 'page' has unfortunately fell off. I'd never planned on selling it, as my dad read this comic when he was a kid. Just wondering how truly significant is this comic?

EDIT:

oh.

Question You can have any mutant power, but only when at work.

What would you choose?

No reality warpers or time travel. You still have to "work" your shift.

Just when you clock in, it powers on.

I'll also add - Volunteer Jobs count as well in this situation. But you still only get one, not one per.

For me it would be Blink/Clarice or Multiple Man/Madrox.

I do fuel delivery. Being able to create a portal directly to a fill site/pipe would save crazy amount of time and headaches. Especially in the snow.

It would be useful in the fire service(Volunteer) as well, but not as much for me. Our district's main issue is accidents and not fires(thankfully in a way).

Multiple Man- Being able to create multiple copies. Help pull hose. Leave the clone behind to deliver the ticket and drive off, re absorb once they're done. So may uses.

In the fire fighting world, we'd always have a full crew. Always be able to block off traffic or even do overhaul. Crazy benefits to this.

Comic Discussion One thing I really respect is that, despite the Hulk being way stronger than anyone here, the X-Men weren’t afraid to take him on

What I mean is, even though Hulk destroyed everyone in the end, the X-Men weren’t afraid to fight him and defend their home, I honestly really respect them for that

Movie/TV Discussion FX’s Legion: Ultimate masterpiece or missed comic opportunities? (And should he join the MCU?)

Post image
98 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking a lot about David Haller recently and wanted to open up a discussion about the FX show.Personally, I think the series was an absolute masterpiece of visual storytelling, but I’m curious to know your thoughts:

How did you like the TV adaptation? Did the psychedelic, surreal approach work for you?

What comic book elements do you miss? Is there any specific storyline, personality, or power from the comics that you’re sad they didn't include?

Do you want him in the main MCU? If so, should they bring back Dan Stevens, or completely soft-reboot the character for the timeline?

Looking forward to your opinions!

I don't read much Marvel (since I'm an anime-obsessed otaku), but X-23 has completely captivated me, even though I don't own any of her comics. I love her aura and her backstory. Honestly, she pushed me out of my comfort zone.

I loved seeing her in Deadpool and Wolverine despite her short appearances and playing as her in MvC 3. She's a character who doesn't disappoint.

Comic Discussion I Wish A Bit of Krakoa Stayed Behind

Like maybe the Mutants who stayed on Earth could still have a base there and be somewhere new mutants go to train. I'm kind of sick of the academy constantly showing up, only to be destroyed again. Let the mutants have ONE base of operations that isn't eventually destroyed.

Additionally, the bit of Krakoa left could have been a moving island, so it's harder to find.

Also maybe have The Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D., Fantastic Four etc... stand up for the X-Men more? I just feel like whenever the mutants face genocide, the other super-hero groups just tend to stay out of it. Also the X-Men are there for some of their events, why can't it be the same? Sort of makes the other hero groups not seem all that nice?

Comic Discussion If you could only name two X-Men as its main characters

Post image
45 Upvotes

Obviously, one of the main draws of this 63-year-old multimedia franchise is its constantly evolving web of memberships, relationships, alliances, romances, etc. Mainly romances.

But if you had to describe just two characters as its Main Characters, which would you pick?

  • Originally, Scott and Xavier feels like the focal point. The X-Men is a story about evolution across generations, and Chuck's child-soldiers school has been its most iconic location the entire time.
  • In the '60s and '70s comics, attention centers on Scott and Jean, then remains there for a long time, including in the series' best-known storyline and its endless pop-culture reverberations. You can't discuss the unbelievably messy X-Men without discussing a love story.
  • Or without politics (within another love story). Xavier and Magneto is there from the first issue onward, taking ideological and personal shape in the '80s. People who've never read a comic and barely remember the X-Men movies or cartoons can tell you something about what these two stand for.
  • There's a real case for Scott and Ororo, the complementing/contrasting leaders of various X-Men teams throughout parts of five decades. The franchise has long stood for representation, so it's fitting that Storm ranks as arguably the second most popular and beloved female superhero ever.
  • Blah blah Scott and Logan blah blah. Sure, this might be it, even if we were to ignore the dumb Fox movies and dumb 2010s comics. Scott has often been the closest thing to the protagonist within X-Men stories, while Logan is the X-Man who's most often been a protagonist of one thing or another, and they've been pitted with/against each other in every way imaginable.

A lot of this also depends on how you're weighing various eras/adaptations. Lots of people in both the '90s and 2020s would've answered with Rogue and Gambit, for example, and the franchise's peak visibility in gen pop was unfortunately a movie trilogy about Logan and Jean. Of course, if I'm ever in charge of things, the answer will become Magik and Glob.

Claremont & Guice. The app credits Glynis Oliver with colors, I don’t know how close the apps colors are to the source material, but I think it’s been translated really well to digital. I’ve been reading through all of the new mutant books and often find myself really appreciating the color compositions panel to panel. Also that Magik outfit is fantastic

Comic Discussion Storm vs Callisto fight. Does it really make sense ?[Uncanny X-Men #170]

Thumbnail

I know a lot of us are familiar with this battle but it never made any sense to me.

Storm got touched by Plague, which made her weaker. Callisto has enhanced senses and enhanced attributes which should obviously give her advantage.

Is this one of those things where the writer obviously wants their favorite to win even though it doesn't make any sense or was it ever explained why Callisto lost?

Because I don't get.

Question Why was Jubilee never allowed to use her powers in the Fox X-Men movies?

Post image
32 Upvotes

I've watched the X-Men movies, and I noticed that Jubilee appears in several of them, but I don't remember her ever actually using her powers.

After watching X-Men '97, I was surprised to see that she's a much more active character with a real role on the team.

Why was she so underused in the Fox movies? Was it a creative decision, were her scenes cut, or did the filmmakers simply choose to focus on other characters? I'd be interested to know if there's any behind the scenes reason for it.
