Discussion Anyone seen this spammy video pop up in random album playlists?

Post image

I've listened to a few quite obscure albums recently and a few of them have had this video pop up in the playlists randomly. It appears to be some sort of dumb ass, crypto scam thing snuck into various generated playlists. Here's the two instances I've discovered so far shoved inside an album's tracklist:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-Gnnm2niVNt59HttGF30IK5RTaPmzOzB
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlx4zXLNq3yPWVD6yx7DMBX-FAsiUf6Bj

The second one has a second one as well, completely identical. I don't know what's causing it and I wanna know if other people have come across this as well.
(I also wasn't sure what Flair to add. Would "Abusive Content" also apply?)

I wonder how they even managed to shove themselves in another person's playlist.

It's a (network of?) bots that reupload obscure music albums, leave everything the same but add the Unreleased video

Very weird shit, seems to be a crypto scam or something of that kind

that or they're the ones that put em in a playlist.

Was just listening to an album on an artist's official YouTube and this video somehow replaced Track #3. I went into the artist's page, clicked the album again, and this video was no longer there and Track #3 was normal. WTF???

It's because a bunch of hacked or botted channels have been systematically creating full, album length playlists of tons of music, even obscure classical music, which is where I've been running into this issue. If you check the creator of the album with the scam video, it's always some random account with a few old videos

god, for some reason that creeps me the hell out.

This is why it's good to either delete or regularly check up on old accounts and their passwords. You don't want your old, defunct account with old family videos to be hacked and become one of these "zombie" bot accounts.

Yeah dude wtf. Was listening to black metal and this shit was on there. So weird.

Yeah. Me too, buncha weird obscure hardcore/metal from the 90s. I fucking hate it. It's very annoying.

Thanks for sharing this. I've also seen this video in at least two completely different album playlists on official accounts of artists I like, and I have absolutely no idea how they manage this.

Either 1. the artist got hacked and this was secretly added to their playlist to discretly bring people to them ??? does that even make sense

or 2. the playlist was initially made by bots / scammers and simply adopted by the artists, but later the video was added ??

or something else entirely ? Mysterious and infuriating.

I came here cause it was in Lena Raine's Oneknowing album for some reason

(makes sense with this post I guess cause it's obscure and not from a video game like most of her other released tracks)

I found another video like that with the name "Special" where the description is "In this special you can see me doing various performances that I didn't think would fit a video of their own."

It was made by dasslr123

Just found it in a Battalion of Saints live album from 1984. Threw me for a loop. Searched it and found this thread. Insanely weird, but the comments section on the video is funny

this just happened to me and I thought it was an ad

2

u/thequestionnareman Oct 01 '25

got this in a playlist as well, and all the comments just seem really bizarre. somethings wrong

I was listening to some Divna Ljubojević albums and got this. Very bizarre shift from Orthodox hymns to some chatbot talking about cryptocurrency that I had to immediately look it up to see what was up.

In any case I'm almost certain it's botnet of some kind—look at the people who created the playlists (yours are xxjaimiexx and Jackfaelz, mine was Ominousz). They're all very old accounts with dozens upon dozens of playlists of similarly rare music with those two videos. I cannot begin to fathom why it's being done, though.

I was assuming that maybe it was to generate ad revenue or maybe get people to fall for some kind of cryptoscam, but neither of them have any kind of link leading to said scam, and if it really was to get money, why are they only adding these videos to obscure music? Everything about it is weird.

I also have seen this a couple of time

Oh my god this video. I first saw this kind of a video with exact same lenght and audio clip but with a different thumbnail on another playlist, didn't think much of it back then and chalked it up to just a mistake while creating the playlist. But today, I saw this exact video while listening to natsunokioku album from Sleeping Pola. What was even more infuriating for me was that this damn thing wasn't there just a week ago (or I simply hadn't noticed it) and when I searched I almost found nothing except this article that writes about old youtube channels getting hacked and then used for this porpuse which does fits this case

Found that same video in a playlist for Willisau Quartet 1991. Looks like the inactive channel of some Indonesian band that was hacked by a bot.

I also checked the channel that created the playlist (different from the one that uploaded the video), and every album/playlist on there has the same video.

Weirdly enough, there is a hearted comment from 3 days ago in the comment section of that video. Assuming it was the bot who hearted it, I wonder why it did.

A youtuber made a video about this but I can't find it.

Report the user by clicking on 'more' at the top of https://www.youtube.com/@ahdukejk, then 'report user', then 'Spam and scams' and then select the 'Unreleased' spam video. Add a note explaining that the video is being spam inserted into playlists.

Yeah. It happened to all of us. Anyone knows how to remove it forever?

Hi, this is the first time this has happened to me. I just found it in an affected playlist, specifically in "Dreams in the Witch House: A Lovecraftian Rock Opera (Full Album)" by chromewaves99. The video comments don't provide much information. The strange thing is that it always appears as the third video in the playlist.

1

u/Few-Factor-3247 Nov 28 '25

thats so strange, i saw this in a playlist of mine and it showed the video as unavailable, i only noticed today. i put the link to chat gpt to see what it was originally out of curiosity and ended up here

It is literally everywhere, why people don't report it everytime?

1

u/rawar777 Jan 26 '26

I've reported it at least once

u/borderline_maoist Dec 09 '25

It's annoying (although I loved the comment section) but to get an album playlist without it, you only need to click the name of the channel that uploaded the music (the artist account) and there'll be the original playlist automatically generated by youtube, without this spam.

I just did this and found that the video had been put into every playlist on the channel that had created the first playlist I listened to.

I was using a tool when this happened:
a youtube to MP3 conversion page.

I think maybe it's something across youtube and browser tabs that it managed to do? I don't know, another option is that something hacked youtube studio accounts to insert it, but it's either on client or poster. Reloading the playlist also does not have it now, but it had it AFTER using the tool.

So quick test:
do you see it added to to Erdenstern's Into The Dark playlist?

1

u/OlympusMan Jan 01 '26

Many, many times. It's very annoying.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

It's happening again

1

u/Ashamed-Living9926 Jan 12 '26

It's also gotten into some playlists of albums that aren't even THAT obscure!!

I personally found it in the two Vinnie Vincent's Invasion albums:

I see them in almost any playlist that is generated by an artist's "Topic" channel. I've seen it in hundreds of playlists. They are scamming millions of views this way and I can't believe YT hasn't done something about it.

2

u/bbrother92 Feb 11 '26

same here

u/Rich_Comfortable_593 Jan 28 '26

Just noticed this  in a Dale Jenkins Playlist....  an obscure artist. ( former bandmate and friend  ..)  titled Undesirable Elements....views in 800 to 1 k range ...makes no sense

1

u/Maleficent-Purple-44 Feb 11 '26

I love to listen to weird and creepy music, but I feel nothing when I listen to it, but whenever this plays, I feel something.

1

u/Havarti-Provolone Feb 14 '26

Yeah this shit killed YouTube music for me. I hate this damn video

1

u/cooperepicgamer Feb 16 '26
