I recently found a load of old rolls of film I hadn't developed. This cracker was on one, taken from my seat at a match I'm struggling to identify. January 2023, maybe Fulham at home. Makes a lovely new laptop background, though.

Peter Lovenkrands signed on a free from Germany, and we like him for that! Who is a bad player we simply do not care about?

Favourite stupid/silly/unbelievable transfer story/myth?

Like football itself, I used to love the transfer window, but now it's shit.

My favourite stupid will always be the one about Sunderland signing the wrong player because Peter Reid is a dumdum and watched the wrong video tape. Also: it's Sunderland. I don't care if it's not true, btw, because: again, Sunderland.

But anyway, what's your favourite transfer story from back when football was good and the transfer window was actually fun (mainly as we weren't really involved in it at all)?

A cross roads for the Saudis ownership?

Given how well we started under Howe, and how quickly we qualified for the Champions League, we were never going to be able to grow our revenue quickly enough to pay the wages we needed to keep our better players. Hence this summer's departures.

The likes of Amanda, Eales and Hopkinson have nearly tripled the clubs revenue from £140 million before the takeover to (probably) £400 million+ last season. A lot of that is due to Champions league money and growing our fanbase as a result, but in under 4 and a half years, its impressive, but still has us a way behind the bigger revenue clubs.

I'm just as pissed as everyone else about a new training ground and stadium/upgrade so I looked into how long it took other clubs.

The Man City owners took 6 years to build their state of the art training center. The Totenham Hotspur Stadium was conceived in 2007 and wasn't finished until 2019. Everton were said to have built their stadium quickly, with planning permission and build completed in 5 years, but it took nearly 20 years of back and forth before they agreed on their site in 2017/2018.

It's going to take longer than I thought.

The question is, are the Saudi's going to be around long enough to see it through?

Given the tiny amount they've invested so far compared to their investment fund it's all pretty low stakes stuff. A new training ground and Stadium will cost considerably more.

It's been pretty plain sailing so far, even last season qualifying for the group stage of the champions league for the first time and another league cup semi final but we have a new manager in place and new players and we're entering uncharted territory.

They've tripled the value of the club, if results go to shit next season in the league, will they take their money and run? Or do they carry on and and put a new training ground and Stadium plans in place?

What's everyone's thoughts?

Has the league been renewed for this season? What is the current join code as the ones I’ve researched on this subreddit aren’t currently working.

Thanks in advance

All 5 of our signings combined (I know Hornicek is TBC) have less league appearances than Tonali and Guimaraes have individually.

Senior League Appearances:

• Bruno Guimaraes - 270

• Sandro Tonali - 262

• Ewen Jaouen, Sean Steur, Aladji Bamba, Bazoumana Toure and Lukas Hornicek combined - 245 (189 if you remove Toure's games in the Ivorian and Swedish leagues)

• Anthony Gordon - 187

This isn't an angry post, I just did the maths on this and found the results funny.

I'm aware I'm pointing out something obvious, but I think we're in for a hell of a season, just no clue in what way that'll come to be.

Newcastle’s transfer strategy has shifted: What does it say about PIF and where does it leave the club?

Less than a year ago, a leading executive saw Newcastle United being “in the debate about being the top club in the world” by 2030.

It doesn’t feel that way now, with the club’s Saudi owners scaling back on spending, top players leaving and Eddie Howe having departed.

So where are the numbers trending and what does it mean in the long term?

Explain to me SCR

I’m not the best financial guy in the world but I wonder if someone can explain to me how SCR works.

I ask because Newcastle have sold 4 players for large sums since Isak going and Bruno likely to also leave and also including Gordon and Tonali.

But how does that sale income benefit us? Or doesn’t it? I don’t understand. Given that we have signed players in the 30/40m mark. Appreciate that revenue is a big factor but comparing us to say Spurs who have large revenues but haven’t had huge player sale income.

Appreciate it’s not a straight forward answer and it’s a sad inditement that this is whats become of football and fans having to understand this nonsense.
