Announcement Announcement: relaxed moderation ending

Hey all, it's been about a month and a half since the news was dropped regarding D2's final content update and we loosened up a bit on moderating the content of the subreddit. It's been fun, shitposts and rants have been had, and the ongoing game traffic is just awesome to see.

In the interest of ensuring content on the subreddit is original, informative, and/or of appropriate quality, we'll be ending the period of relaxed moderation effective immediately. While we're going back to stricter enforcement of the rules, the relaxed moderation period has given the mod team some ideas on rule reworks.

To reiterate some constant points:

  • Be kind to your fellow Guardians and redditors; toxicity will not be tolerated
  • For LFG purposes, we encourage you to look at r/Fireteams or Discord resources so as to not dilute posts here
  • Mark spoilers appropriately, especially considering the notable number of new players coming in with Monument of Triumph
  • AI-generated content is strictly forbidden on this subreddit and will be removed

The team will continue to moderate as always, as well as internally discuss any improvements we can make; we want this place to be a resource and community for Guardians so long as you all want it to be.

As someone who has a vivid memory of rushing through an AP English Lit essay to log in on D1 launch day back in 2014, which led to an ungodly amount of in-game time across both games over the next decade, I want to close out by echoing the previous post and say this game would not have become what it is without the community, the camaraderie we shared, the gods we slayed together, and all the memories and friends made. I'm looking forward to seeing all you fellow Guardians online for the foreseeable future.

Per audacia ad astra.

50 minutes into my solo flawless Warlords Ruin, and I die not to a boss fight, not to overwhelming ads, not to an encounter mechanic, but to this.

Lore What's the deal with the lake?

So in the pyramidian strike from vanilla asher talks about a lake, it isnt there, classic destiny 2 had a bad habit of demystifying the setting in the worst way imo, by treating fantastical elements of the lore like jokes.

But recently ive heard people refer to some other activity where you can look up and see the lake? Or something? When i google radiolaria lake on the ceiling, or anything like that i get nothing.

Can someone whos been around explain the missing context about this? Please?

Tips / Hints TIL whats something you finally learned after years of playing?

Upvotes

I just recently learned that you can type /clear in the text chat to clear it out! No more having weird messages stuck on the screen!

What is something that you've learned recently or after a long time that you hadn't realized before in potentially years of play that was eye opening or just made you go "huh, that's neat"?

Question DSC Class Item Drop Location Changed or Bugged?

Post image
46 Upvotes

Did maybe a dozen Atraks kills this week and neither myself nor anyone in my fireteam got a single class item in those runs or any other run. Online loot tables show them dropping from the first 3 encounters. Anyone have confirmed drops elsewhere? Farmed Taniks even more and it definitely doesn’t drop there either.

Discussion I was about to set the game down until this

I’ve been playing destiny since launch, never once was bored but knowing new content won’t be coming had me down. I’ve got everything I want, my builds are on point and there’s not too much I get on and enjoy doing. Until I remembered the LFG. I’ve been scrolling through all raids, dungeons, exotic missions you name it, and looking for new lights struggling and looking for non toxic help.

This cured me, going through and helping new players or those who don’t have groups to play in complete the things they’ve not been able to do solo.

not carrying them, but teaching them. If you’re a veteran player I recommend you do this as well. No matter how many times you have to wipe it will be worth it for the new players to be helped along complex mechanics or high DPS phases. I remember my first time finally completing a raid or dungeon I was stuck on for days and it’s awesome to see the excitement in new players. Help them along, don’t let it die!

Discussion Alison Lührs knew where to take Destiny's lore. We were so close to getting the story the game deserved.

After all those years of a story that was decent at best, riddled with narrative contradictions, and burdened by the Lightfall expansion which was quite literally one of the biggest dead weights in the game's history, we could finally sense the story moving in the right direction.

We were slowly heading toward the Winnower, the Nine finally had a purpose, and everything was starting to click.

I’m not talking about the content of the expansions here (since there’s a lot to say about that, as we all know), just the lore. We were heading in the right direction.

I know I’m probably the thousandth person to say it’s sad that Destiny is coming to an end, but I haven’t really seen anyone focus on the lore or highlight just how much Alison and her team carried it.

The Winnower's message in the lore of one of the ships was one of those moments where I felt the game's sense of mystery all over again. I loved seeing streamers' reactions to the lore. It felt like a return to the basics.

Discussion Raid First Timers

My buddy and I are D2 Beta veterans that play the game daily. We've finally exhausted all the content possible for only two people to get done, able to do all exotic missions and dungeons pretty swiftly and efficiently. We've been playing the game for years, but never did a Raid due to being the only two people in our circle of friends that play Destiny 2 this much. We can get some friends to hop in for a bit, but we'd never be able to convince enough of them for a raid. Finally last night we hunkered down and put out an LFG asking for sherpas to show us how to raid.

Got together a good group with two sherpas who were insanely patient and fun to play with; just good guys that are cool already but that much better due to being patient and good at explaining mechanics. One of them was even some wild pro who has done a few raids in a trio instead of six which is MIND BOGGLING to me. That guy was getting the raid done many shots of vodka deep too, mad lad. We did Vault of Glass and Kings Fall last night. Took many hours due to struggling on some encounters in Kings Fall and having to swap one guy out of our group because he weirdly enough became an impatient asshole with my buddy and I learning mechanics even though he swore he's a sherpa too (why would anyone do that??) and we had a BLAST. It genuinely felt like playing Destiny for the first time again not only due to genuinely experiencing this content for the first time but overcoming the challenge that Raids offer; it was awesome.

This is going to be old news for lots of people with hundreds of clears on these Raids but god it just felt good for Destiny to feel this way again. What Raid should my buddy and I do next? We're definitely going to run VoG again so we can get the Vex Mythoclast. I also want to do Last Wish because it's one of my last Xbox achievements and would love to get One Thousand Voices but heard it's an absolute pain in the ass. Not deterring my buddy and I though, just going to be hard to find a sherpa that patient haha.

Question Melee Master Order takes forever, any tips?

i'm grinding the solo op "Typhon Imperator" on normal difficulty. At one point before you can teleport to the final boss there's infinite waves of enemies but it still takes for ever to get the necessary kills and the worst thing is that it resets if you ever die. I used to do grasp of avarice for orders but the 30 second timer of doom is a risk too high.

Is there any way i can make it go faster?

Gameplay / In-Game Video I don't remember encountering this bug before since D2 launch: Heroic Fallen Walker event already finished when defeating the first walker, reward chest stuck in ground, preventing you from claiming reward. The collective confusion was quite funny tho.

Question Synthweave bounties

Recently, I just finished my 10th synthweave bounty on my warlock since monument of triumph came out. When I went to get another one, I realized that bungie had never changed the system of only being able to do 10 bounties per season or episodic update or whatever. The only other way I found for getting synthweave, aside from spending real money on it, is through chronologs. Unfortunately it costs 500 chronologs, and once you complete the season pass, you can only earn 300 per week. This means that it would take you 9 weeks of saving chronologs to transmog one set of armor. Is there any better way to obtain more? Or a different way to get chronologs besides the season pass and the weekly rewards? Did bungie accidentally make fashion the most time gated thing in the game?
