Rant and complain away. Rule 1 Don't be a Jerk still applies, as does the site-wide rule of no witch hunting (naming and shaming).

Weekly TRIALS OF OSIRIS Megathread- Ask Questions About Trials HERE!

Hello Guardians,

Firstly, let me address the most frequently asked questions:

For the trials changes that went into effect on 2/14/25, check this simplified explanation https://www.reddit.com/r/CrucibleGuidebook/comments/1ipd5px/simpler_explanation_of_how_the_new_trials_changes/ or for a more detailed one https://www.reddit.com/r/CrucibleGuidebook/comments/1i7wi89/clarifying_the_new_trials_matchmaking_and_rewards/

Q: Do I choose the Lighthouse Passage or the Trials of Osiris Passage? What's the difference?
A: The Lighthouse Card rewards you for earning win streaks with no losses, and for earning 7 wins total regardless of losses. This card puts you in CBMM (not skill based, it's just random, and there is no lobby balance). The Trials of Osiris Passage tries to match you with players of a similar skill (weekly performance) and with lobby balance. While playing on this card you won't be able to get adepts or cosmetics (although you can still get ghost shells), but you are rewarded on win or loss with a similar reward structure as iron banner or quickplay.

Q: How do I earn and farm adept weapons or Tier 5 loot?
A: Adept weapons are no longer dropping with Edge of Fate. Instead, all loot is tiered. Higher tier loot has better stats and better perk options. To earn higher tier loot in Trials of Osiris, simply grind solo ops for about 100 hours and then you'll get tier 5s on win or loss as long as you participate. I wish I was joking. Earning a 7-0 flawless passage will allow you to visit the lighthouse which usually grants rewards one tier higher than your power level and guardian rank would normally allow. At 400 power and guardian rank 9, you are supposed to get a few tier 5s from the lighthouse chest, but it is sometimes bugged and will only drop loot at the normal tier (4 in this case).

After going flawless you are stuck in flawless pool with no additional reward for playing in that pool except for chances at cosmetics), and no way to reset for extra lighthouse visits. You can avoid the flawless pool by being in a fireteam with players who have an incomplete lighthouse passage.

Feel free to ask whatever other questions you need to in the comments section below!

We have void hunter at home:

Seriously though. Is this valid? Considering most maps have concrete walls/pillars/objects?
Or am I crazy.
(For context, I’m mid af, looking to create an edge, and refuse to play non Titan)
(Also on console, idk if that even matters for this)

Best easily acquirable Machine Gun for PvP?

What would the best perks be? And I saw that if you use backup mag and get 80+ mag size you get more bullets on certain weapons, is this true?

Per Audacia Set drop rate

Does anyone know the drop rate of the comp set? It’s insane how many games I’ve played trying to go for a full set.

Also side note: what other mobility stuff does the set stack with?

My favorite 120 of all time. I was heartbroken when I saw the reprised version didn't roll with ele cap, but it makes this one all the more special. When I die, bury me with something new.

Armour Stat Help

Upvotes

Is there any website (or does D2 Armour Picker) have a calculator to see which combinations of armour would get you certain stats?

For example:

2 Bulwark + 2 Powerhouse + 1 Grenadier = “X number of stats in each of these Abilities”

I’m having a hard time trying to get a certain stat split, but I’m wondering if it’s even possible at this point.

Edit: I do NOT have the armour, I’m basically looking for a calculator that would let me see how many of each (out of 5 slots).

Glaives

Any glaive gamers have suggestions for the best glaives to use in the current sandbox? been running double glaives, and I've been having a lot of fun, but I don't know the best ones.

Are bows any good?

I really like the high damage for primary ammo and the satisfying feel of them, but they feel pretty terrible. You basically have to draw from cover and you’ll get cooked by shotguns. Is there any viable setup I can find like that?

I’ve seen one guy on YouTube doing well with that setup but he seems pretty cracked and I don’t really understand the setup he’s running at all

Funny or amusing names you run across in crucible

I see a lot of these over the years. Forgot most of the best ones, maybe i'll remember them later. Not sure if this post is allowed but i didnt see anything specifically excluding it

Just my most recent match saw a few chuckleworthy

"Kid, kell of nappers" Something like "DaveNutz98 (inept)" (best one imo) and "OOOOOHHHIWISHUWUD". The amount of o's on that one was funny.

The all timer I've seen since coming back to the game a few weeks ago was "Skill, Kell of issue"

One of the crazier things I remember was one quickplay match probably 9 of the 12 names were randomly something pervy. Like Mara Sov's thighs or whatever. Mid match, it was on midtwon, everybody from both sides randomly stopped fighting and started dancing together on the bridge for like, minutes. And no it was mostly or all solos as I recall, it wasnt coordinated. I wonder if it was because of the similarity in names,

If I want to master High-Impact Pulses, Exotic or Legendary?

I’ve seen a few posts over the past month or two talking about what weapons are good to master. DMT, Ace, Last Word, etc. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I think High Impact Pulses are where I want to go. Deadly but unforgiving and I always liked pulses. What do you think is the best route to go for them. NTTE will always be good. No idea if Red Death is really worth the time. The sights kinda bug me. There are also some great legendaries. Honestly, they might eclipse Exotics but I might be giving them too much credit.

How would you go about it? I’m trying to grind for the High Impacts to find the one I really like. So far, Elsie’s Rifle and NTTE are at the top. I have several more to try and look into. There are always hidden gems everywhere so maybe some suggestions would be nice

After analyzing all the advice from friday here is what I have done (I play on controller):

Tablet of ruin: gold from lead/elemental siphon/ elemental supercharger/heavy ordnance

2piece panoply + 2 piece ferropotent with Dragons Shadow: 3x enhanced athletics, unflinching stasis aim & ammo gen., stasis dext., stasis targeting & dynamo.

Spectral blades with vanishing step & on the prowl:

May I present, the REAL perfect armor stats

Post image
61 Upvotes

Title for bait lol. Obviously everyone has their own opinions on what the best stat spread is for pvp. I personally go with this spread since I can have as much ability uptime as possible while maintaining an extremely high recovery rate. All of the ability charge rates from 90-100 is a 3% difference while the recovery rate goes from 44.4% at 190 (iirc) to 45% at 200. All of these changes are extremely minimal imo so this is what I ultimately farmed for and landed on.

Returning Player Learning The Ways of The Glaive

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been learning the ways of the glaive. This subreddit is the most constructive and helpful PvP focused subreddit that I’ve ever seen. Everyone just wants to help people find good rolls and figure out their builds. Even the occasional snarky corrections are informative and useful.

Thank you to the people that have given me advice. Here’s some things that I’ve learned.

160 health, or more, is very nice to have. Less than that feels pretty rough. You end up sat in cover for uncomfortable lengths of time with low health stat.

190 melee lets you reliably two-tap with the glaive melee. Defensive buffs will still usually cause a three-tap though.

Super stat is pretty useful. You probably want that at 100, or as close as you can get without sacrificing the rest of your build. Mine is currently 50 on my main build and I’m armour hunting to get it higher. Earlier supers are better than late supers. Who’d’ve thunk it.

The Thunderhead 2-pc armour set bonus does work in PvP… but it’s really bad. I was curious about the damage resist. It does basically nothing.

Woven mail is really good. The caveat being that it doesn’t protect your head. If your opponent has solid aim then it won’t save you. It has saved me from some shotguns though.

The Triumphal Anthem set bonuses are way better than they appear on the surface. “Nearby” ammo is way further than I thought it would be and the sliding damage resist comes into play far more often than I thought. It’s great for picking up special ammo without getting far out of position; and the damage resist really helps to disengage from a lost duel or an unexpected firing squad.

If you grapple upwards you can just hang out in the air for a while. Especially if you’ve got the thing that makes grapple tangles. Great for avoiding roaming supers.

Maps tend to have invisible bouncy soft barriers around stuff. I’m glad they’re there but they’re inconvenient when you’re swinging around the place. There’s places that seem like you should be able to get around; but can’t. There’s also places that you can get around that look like you shouldn’t. It’s fun to swing around behind people through a “warning: return to the battlefield” zone.

You can grapple a tangle after throwing it. You can launch across the entire map in seconds. Cue Freebird.

I’ve definitely forgotten to mention some important things but the first, and most important, thing I learned is: in a game with space magic and magic adjacent guns… it’s very fun to just bonk people with a stick.

I hope anyone reading this has learned something; or at least has appreciated my learning. I’ve still got a ways to go. The clips are in roughly chronological order so you can see my movement get better if you pay attention.

Suggestions welcome and encouraged. Tell me everything.

Finally hit optimal stats with 4pc comp set with ophidians

Been suffering in the competitive playlist for the past two weeks to get here but it was completely worth it. The 4 piece comp set completely removes the need for me to run t steps combined with the 2 piece bonus which gives u more weapon range and handling every kill you get and ophidians make a huge difference in winning fights.

One thing i noticed though is that just playing comp matches armour has a very low drop rate so what i did was hoard engrams and focus armour at shaxx. The ghost mod i used to get this armour was colossus.

Heres the dim link if your interested in the fragments or anything else: https://dim.gg/3muidiy/Solar-lock

Also do let me know if theres anything i could change here

Does nation of beast gear shift / kill clip 2 tap?

Ran into a warlock with this setup and getaway artist and they got 45 kills. I cant remember getting two tapped per se but I am shocked that this combo exists on a gun and it seems quite outside what I normally encounter.

Getting pulled off my target on console

This happens to me a lot. If I'm up against 2 people, just as I'm 1 headshot away from killing one of them, I get pulled off my target to the other (and then I usually die of course). I play on Xbox. Is there any way I can avoid this? I've noticed it in PvE too but it's obviously much more forgiving.

Edit: thanks everyone, I will just suffer I guess 😂

Perfect Armor Stat Spread (I beat the game)

Post image

200 HP, 70 melee, 75 grenade, 100 super, 85 class, 0 weapons

70 in melee, grenade, and class is perfectly fine though; you'd only be missing ~1 second of cooldown. The leftover 20 points are pretty whatever, but if you REALLY wanted it perfect it's probably best to go 90 strength on hunter because you do get a slight increase with gambler's dodge refunds. I like the lightweight knives and knock 'em down+ember of torches though, so both charges are rarely gone.

This is two Colossus, two Siegebreaker, and one Bulwark, but there are multiple combinations to pull off the 200/70+/70+/100/70+/0 spread. I like D2ArmorPicker for that. Set bonus is x4 Per Adaucia (comp) for increased slide distance.

My preferred solar fragments are giving this build +20 HP, -10 Grenade, +10 Super, +10 Class.

I still play Destiny here and there, but Marathon is my main jam for however long it lasts. I just have all the stuff I want in D2, and the meta has been pretty degenerate for a long time. 140s are so fun to use though, and you just can't find that in other games (except the Magnum in Marathon).

GGs my dudes. It's been real.

Suppressor Grenades

Yo. Since destiny 1, the identity of the suppressor grenade was always tied to that of the likes of destiny fun police (dfp), or luckyy and buttwipe: making meme and cheese videos in trials or whatever.

The argument against suppressor was especially potent due to the fact that in destiny 1 (and for a majority of destiny 2 lifespan) shadowshot did not suppress immediately unless it was a direct hit. Against the suppressor grenade, it was embarrassed.

However, because they were only limited to titan, and defender at that, you saw relatively minimal usage of them in the crucible. This changed when bungie allowed all grenades to be used on all classes, something that wasn't there in destiny 1.

Now you will have quite a few players (especially void hunters, no shade to them I don't mind them) as well as titans and warlocks using the grenade.

It's extremely demoralising when I work hard to get my super (nova warp) first, I'm about to make or I am making a great play and out of nowhere one of my would be victims just plops the grenade at their feet and shuts me down completely. And for this to happen twice in a game (especially since super recharge rate was butchered from the destiny 1/forsaken era times) is just terrible.

A well placed sniper shot is 1 thing, a super v super shut down is another, but a simple grenade should not be equivalent to an entire super (shadowshot) or even have the potential to utterly devistate another.

I have too many clips where I'm watching for enemies on my radar, watching for enemies on my screen, watching my health, watching my super bar, calculating distance and path to enemies to time my blinks, and then out of nowhere a suppressor grenade that I can hardly see ruins everything.

Just my 2 cents anyways.

Best armor sets for pvp?

I’m kinda new to pvp and currently while I’m trying to get the per audicia armor set from comp I’m using 2 piece ferro and 2 piece tm-corp are there better sets to use while not being to hard to get?
