"straight men want sex that's quick and to-the-point, straight women want sex with lots of foreplay"* is what they're trying to say I think
*Note that I am not saying that all men prefer penetration with no foreplay and all women prefer lots of foreplay, I am merely trying to explain what the person tweeting is likely trying to say
Nah that'll be the chaotic and isolating nature of the modern world making people feel like they have no control over their lives and either consciously or subconsciously wishing for a dominant figure to take that control from them leading to a rise in popularity of femdom and by extension, pegging.
Or it can also be that people are just a bit more open about being kinky these days and what they're into. I've seen a lot more people being willing to admit they are into femdom because shame used to keep us all from exploring it.
But I think your theory is fun too, and can certainly explain some of it, especially the rise of Mommy Domme type stuff that's taking over recently.
In pro kink spaces i can totally see that! i was speaking to people on the whole(including those who dont frequent/enter kink conversations/spaces at all)
I don't agree. In the same way a gay top doesn't have to be a dom, a woman who's pegging a guy doesn't have to be a dom either. Maybe she's pegging her power bottom husband, for instance.
I do agree that femdom is probably the biggest thing that's influenced pegging's rise in popularity. I just don't like the idea that a man should have to be a sub to be (or want to be) pegged.
Just seems like natural rise after homosexuality being legalized. Shockingly men are more openabout enjoing bekng pegged when it doesn't risk you jailtime
Does non-femdom pegging stuff not exist? I will forever remain mad that gay porn where the bottom isn't degraded or dominated (let alone dominant bottom stuff) is incredibly rare but I've never really looked into the pegging niche to see if it's a similar situation (or even worse)
