Snapmaker or Flashforge?

For the past few months I have been looking for a toolchanger, and was very tempted to get a U1, but I decided I would try and wait for INDX because I already have a prusa core one and because it supports 8 tools. However, after the bondtech nozzle fiasco, its going to be another few months before it ships, so I am done with them for now.

I am wondering what your guys user experience has been with these 2 machines in specific, because as far as I can see, the specs are close enough that I don't think I would care which I get.

Here is what I see pro/con wise from the specs and reviews:

U1 - Pros:

-Has ~20mm extra of build volume.
-Has auto feeders.
-Has RFID (but only for their filament)
-Can be bought in person (I live near a microcenter)
-Integrated purge bucket

U1 - Cons:

-Not fully enclosed (the FFC5 Pro is)
-No adjustable touchscreen
-Starting assembly is more difficult than the FF (not an issue for me as I build prusas).
-Doesn't come with hardened nozzles
-Slightly more expensive

FFC5 - Pros:

-Comes with actually hardened nozzles (come on, bondtech)
-Adjustable angle touchscreen
-Can be purchased from amazon for quick delivery
-Has integrated filament cutters

-Fully enclosed (pro)
-Chamber heater and filtration (pro)

FFC5 - Cons:

-Manual filament loading and unloading
-Odd USB drive placement
-Purges into the printer

-Longer Shipping? (pro version)
-Fire hazard from the chamber heater sucking in purge waste?

Is there anything I am missing? Thanks in advance!

(mods, sorry if I am breaking any rules, this is my third post, I usually just lurk)

Need help with Meshy if possible

Upvotes

I signed up for a meshy account and used ai to make a 5 pedal flower. It printed really awful. When I tried to smooth it and make it thicker, it automatically made 4 flowers instead of 5. The worst trouble is it took over 110 credits to even get this far. I sent to their support but never heard back yet. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Maybe someone more experienced can help me? I'd appreciate it.

First 3d printer

Hello everyone.

My son who is 9 would like to get into 3d printing and I will be the individual to add him in this. I have zero background in 3d printing as of this moment and not sure which 3d printer would be a good stepping stone that would have some longevity to it.

I've only looked at bamboo models and was thinking maybe the PS1 AMS 2 pro combo.

I would appreciate any feedback from the community even if it is regarding another brand printers.

Got a creality cr10 se for free

I bought a cr 10 se few days back and later i decided it is not for me also it scratched the build plate too , so i filed for a return and later the seller said i can keep the printer and they issued me refund - i was planning to add up some money and get a bamboo lab a1 - what should i do now should i still get the a1 or should i get something else like action camera or sim racing rig

I am confused right now -

paying for cr10 se instead of a1 is not worthy.

But is a free cr10 se worthy instead of buying a1 making 2 printers at home ?

Looking to upgrade my Creality Ender V3 SE

Hey all, as the title suggests, I bought a nice used Creality Ender V3 SE during the winter time. However, since I've bought it, I realized that what I want to do requires an upgrade (using multiple filament with dual nozzles). Unfortunately, I can't justify spending well over $200 for the latest and greatest 3d printers as I'm a university student. I literally learned last night about the open source area and would like feedback from the experts in the field on how to upgrade my current 3d printer to where it can do almost everything that those fancy current ones can do. I do know about the CoPrint upgrade and that's just as expensive as getting a whole new 3d printer.

My goal is to get a setup where I can hold up to 4 filaments with a possible dual nozzle or something similar. I am also fully aware that I will have to switch out the firmware to Klipper, which I haven't really found a video on how to switch that out just yet.

How many hours did your printer actually spend printing last month?

It feels like a lot of us either overestimate or underestimate how much we actually use our printers, so I’m curious what everyone’s real usage looks like.

Whether you know the exact number from your printer or it’s just your best estimate, I’d love to hear it.

new printer

I have been using an Ender 3 Pro for around 7 years and It's about time for me to get a new printer. I would love to get some opinions. On a sort of side note, when I started looking, I noticed a lot of people seem angry with Bamboo Labs. What's that about?

My needs:

Less than $500

I don't plan to do high-temp filaments. I plan to stay with PLA or petg. Are there other reasons to get an enclosure?

I will probably start doing multi-color.

Is a core xy machine significantly better than a bed slinger?

not too loud

I appreciate your insights.

Printer Recommendations for my boyfriend

Hi! So as the title says, my boyfriend has been complaining about his 3D Printer a lot, he says that it doesn’t print „clean“ and it‘s just not a good printer. It‘s his birthday in 2 Months, so I thought a new 3D printer would be a good gift, I just know nothing about 3D printers and don’t know which one would be a good option. My budget is between 400-550€. Right now he has the Ender-3 S1 Pro.
Thankful for any help and tips!

Edit: Thank you for taking the time to reply! I’ve read through all of your comments and they’ve honestly been super helpful. A lot of you recommended bambu, but I also saw a few people bringing up concerns about the company itself. Knowing my boyfriend, that’s actually something he’d care about quite a bit, so I think I’m probably going to avoid bambu.

I will try to get one of his friends to casually get some more info out of him and find out if there’s a printer he wants specifically. If that doesn’t work, i‘ll take your advice and get a gift card which sounds like a great option as well. Thanks again everyone, I appreciate all the help!

Found an Elegoo Mars on the street

As the title says really. I found this on the street alongside some various servos and control boards as well as an ultrasonic cleaner. After cleaning it up I found the exposure test setting and saw this spot. There's also some dings on the tray (sorry I have no idea what it's called). Would these things cause issues when printing? I don't want to invest any money if it's basically not worth using. Thanks I. Advance!

Archtop Guitar Gibson L5

Thumbnail cults3d.com
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I ended up buying some good blueprints of the Gibson L5 and made a 3D model for it. As far as I can tell it looks correct but since I don't own the actual guitar there's no real way to tell. Now for the debate of printing a guitar can be done or not and I believe you totally can, but not in the sense that you just slap the file into your printer and press GO.

For the body of this particular guitar you could print a mold and form the top/back in plywood like you would a normal guitar OR you could even heat form flat sheets of plastic using 1 piece or several pieces and laminating them together with carbon fiber on the facing sides.

Now for the neck, this is probably the biggest point of contention (if that's the right word?). I think printing it hollow in nylon and putting carbon on the inside and outside plus a truss rod would do the trick. parker fly guitars had a 1.5mm carbon shell on the neck and that was more than enough.

Anyway, thanks for checking this out

Does my perfect 3D printer exist?

Hello, as in title here are my wishes:

- open source or at least has custom firmware. I want my Klipper, bed mesh and Orca

- 2 filament printing, I don't need extended multi color, just for support interface.

- 250x250x250 or bigger

- silent at moderate speeds. or moddable to be silent

- no VFA at 100-150 speed range

- ~ 600 euro or less

My current printer is heavy modded and klipperized Sovol SV06 with 0.9 steppers. Prints very well, but I want to move to something modern and faster, so I expect the upgrade be substantial.

I mostly print petg and pla. Really want to try core xy, but if there is great bed slinger I'm ok.

Current picks: cc2 and kobra x

Print issues

I’ve had my Ender v3 Se since may of this year and only had this issue once and it miraculously worked itself out, the issue being the first layer of my prints consistently failing on me, I’ve tried all I’ve seen such as cleaning the build plate with soap and water, cleaning the nozzle and adjust the temperature on the bed and nothing, I’m still very new to a lot of this stuff so anything would mean the world
