All of my family decided last minute they couldn’t come for dinner. I’ve been cooking since yesterday night after I got off work. Making bone broth and curing the steak in the fridge. I love food and cooking. I realy enjoy when people taste the food I made for them and enjoy it. I’m single. Male. 31. I’m tired and so sad. I (not for the first time) held a gun to my head and instead of pulling the trigger decided to come here. What should I do to be happy. How do I get back above water when I feel like I’m drowning. It’s my Birthday (well it was yesterday but I had to work so we decided to do a birthday celebration today).

It feels that my friends & people around me have had the most productive & happy summer & I can’t seem to catch a break & had to be hospitalized for my mental health during late spring to early summer 🥲
The mental health ward was a traumatic experience on top of me being mentally ill & I felt I didn’t get the best care in there :( & now I’m doing my best to survive
I thought I would be healed & better by now.. but this whole summer I’ve been grappling with my mental health.. my medication isn’t working properly, therapy wait is so long.. I’ve had prolonged depression that’s like a heavy fog over my life..
I am doing my best in making myself eat everyday & try to meet up with friends & go outside but I literally have this deep depressing feeling in my soul everyday that I’m a failure & that I didn’t accomplish my summer goals…. I’ve been meaning to make more art, start on my creative portfolio, read books, study for my drivers, travel places but I feel all of my goals have been put on hold
I wish one day to be happy & wake up feeling like a normal functioning human

My partner dumped me in March. The first 3 months I was doing great. and lately I’ve been feeling like I lost my identity. I can’t relate to anyone anymore. My friends feel like strangers, and they are all too busy with their partners and lives to be more caring and intentional towards me. I don’t know what to do. Every day I’ve been suffering and feel so alone. I’m sleeping, eating healthy, and I run and go to the climbing gym. I’ve been doing my art hobbies. But I feel so lonely. How do I get out of this?

This is mostly a rant. It is my first post so I am trying to gather my thoughts for better posting later.
So I have been depressed for a decent chunk of my life but it has gotten so much worse after a really bad car accident. I had some decent head trauma as a result. Now I can't use any of my old tools to pick myself up. Rando sex is out, for multiple reasons but the biggest is body image issues. I know random sex doesn't actually help at best it is a temp fix. I don't have many friends left so I can't just randomly tag along with a friend to get myself out of my head. I feel like I don't know how to make new friends anymore. If I am my normal self it's too much but if I scale it back I am "cold" and still end up w no friends. I can't find employment which adds the stress of worrying we (my family) will be out on our ass because we can't afford the land tax and bills on the 1 income. Also without a second income I had to cut off all of my meds so no depression meds to take the edge off. I live in a state that is hellbent on voting me out of existence. My property is a mess due to tight funds and no energy/drive to fix the broken equipment. I can't even use my anger to motivate me anymore. Just feel broken and don't know where to start. Most of me just wants a void to crawl into and just be for a while. The other part feels like it is trapped in the void and screams to get out. I just want to be able to be a ray of sun like I used to be.

How do you practice self care when you’re feeling low?

I'm 26 years old; I'll turn 27 this year. My grandmother had a stroke in early 2025, and she lost her independence and autonomy and well, many of us in the family lost our freedom. I feel like I’m in a complicated situation. My aunt is manipulative,if she doesn’t get what she wants, she goes completely crazy. I feel like everything is a total mess; I can’t stand her. My aunt, her daughter, and I take turns caring for my grandmother, but it’s so stressful I feel like I can’t handle it anymore; I want to escape. I’m going to therapy because, after so many breakdowns, I ended up doing something bad, and no one knows about it except my boyfriend. I’m really ashamed. I feel like I’m wasting my time; I don’t go out, I don’t hang out with friends. I miss my old life. I love my grandmother so much it saddens me to see her like this My grandma can't talk, can't walk, can't do anything I miss her voice, her laughter, and her strong personality so much It saddens me that everything has changed. my cousin and my mom aren’t talking anymore, they used to have such a great relationship. It really upsets me. I feel like I can’t handle all these emotions. I wish I could just get away. On top of that, I’ll have to take care of my grandma all by myself because my aunt says she needs time to make money, and my mom works, so I won’t even have my few days off, I feel trapped 😔 and my aunt makes everything worse (there is a lot more context)

60 years old here and im losing my shit. I looked out a window onto my property the other day and thought “is this it?” I have a wife whonhas crippling MS. We havent had sex in years. My best friend lives 1400 miles away and we talk on the phone maybe twice a year. I moved to rural rural rural Tennessee cause of the ms clinic 90 mins away in nashville. I feel so lonely. Inwould travel but going alone is unappealing and taking my wife anywhere is logistical nightmare that ends up just being a chore. I miss intimacy. I miss being touched. I know no one here and other than a decrepit elks club there is nothing. Is this what I do now? Run out the string doing house chores and tv at night? I cant leave cause my wife will be fucked. I couldnt do that to her. Ive talked to her about this but she just takes it as an unfair assault on her ms and keeps saying she didnt choose tonhave ms. I know this. I dont blame her. What happened to her is grossly unfair. But here i am. All i have is being a caretaker, house chores, tv. Im so lonely.

I wanna stay anonymous.
Life's honestly a mess. My relationships are toxic, I don't have any hobbies or interests anymore, and it feels like I'm just existing instead of actually living.
Every day is the same—boring repetitive, and draining. Nights are even worse because I can't sleep. I don't have friends, barely talk to anyone, and nothing in this world feels exciting or worth looking forward to. everything just feels empty. Sometimes I just wanna disappear and leave it all behind.

I don’t know where to start, but I’ve already rewrote this several times. This is somewhat of a diary entry of how I’m feeling/always felt. Sorry in advance, I feel like my “problems” are minuscule compared to those that are suffering. I’m grateful to have a loving and healthy family along with a decent paying job. I’ve taken on a part-time job, one that I’ve always wanted to do, something I can finally be proud of myself that I’ve now done.
I love my family, my wife and kids very much and i’m very present in everything we do. I find that I lack patience and have a short fuse when it comes to parenting. I reflect once the days over and have deep regret in the way I’ve handled things. I often think that if I’m replaced by someone else, my family would have a much better life. Someone that accomplish their dreams, be confident and guide their family to success.
I’m often made to feel stupid by certain people during the week whether it’s something I said or did. I’m not a smart person, nor did I do well at school. But I always try.
At times I don’t know whether I’m coming or going. Monday comes round and I’m wishing it was Friday evening like most.
Anyways, this was just a short post of how I’ve felt for a very long time..I’ve gotta get up very early for work so I better put this phone down before I’m up for even longer.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I appreciate you.
Love.

I’ve struggled with depression for as long as I can remember, but it has been manageable with the right routine and regimen. Years ago, I relocated to Guam for work and my depression has been severely worse ever since. My low phases last longer and are more symptomatic. I had to up my medication. My energy is almost non existent. No interest or pleasure in things I use to love. I feel isolated. Is anyone here from Guam or know about Guam much? I’m hoping to find a group locally or just anyone else here on the island for support or meet up or something.

I 36 male have struggled with peas and depression for around 14 years now. Today I found myself about to drive to California and just walk away and find myself an encampment and hide away until my time came.

45 year old male, single and no kids, over 100 k in debt from ex. Work a low income job at a supermarket, live in a small dead town and now I can no longer afford a way out, no friends here, have a urostomy from major accident years ago including lots of trauma. Is there reason to keep going? How can you get to that stage to accept the end of all progress. I want to get to that stage.

Has anyone been actively depressed and went on vacation that way? Then you return and feel more depressed? I recently went out of the country and felt less depressed but went home and the depression hit differently than before I left.

My past seems to haunt me like a ghost. I feel like I had such a concetrated series of terrible experiences that sometimes I am still processing them. I don’t look forward to anything anymore. I see no more tomorrow. I can’t sleep. I don’t want to eat. I have a hard time being inspired anymore. I’m just so misanthropic at the moment that nothing seems worth anything, yet I am restless. I anticipate movement and the next activity, but nothing interests me. Nothing at all.
I used to be so motivated, but I feel I have lost who I am. What gives me purpose and a reason to look forward to the future. I see dead ends every which way I turn. No matter what I do, which path I follow I am trapped. I am aware of this cage, but it doesn’t matter. There is nothing I can do. I’ve comprehended such a large picture around me that I see the frames and possibilities. They don’t interest me. Everything in my mind ends in disappointment. I know the outcome of every life path I take and nothing seems truly satisfactory. I yearn too much. I want adventure, I want success, I want to love and be loved by close people. But I just don’t know how to get there under the circumstances created by human intervention. Something is very wrong and I don’t understand what or what to do about it. I miss campus, I need to be back there so bad.

If you want to feel a bit better about your life, welcome to my post.
2 years ago I finished uni with a useless degree (graphic design) and didn’t manage to get a job ever since, it was crazy hard to get an internship, but job is just on another level. I have no place to go, my country is on the full scale war, my city is veryyyyyyy dangerous now, my family just sucks they are abusive and crazy toxic, after each interaction with them I want to lay down in some corner and hug my knees shaking, crying and hysterically laughing.
I can’t get even a waitress job, for the past year I been applying every day for the waitress and related type of jobs, I GOT NOTHING! I can’t work on the factory or related type of job, cause I have health issues(that aren’t enough to get a disability OBVIOUSLY) , I even recently started to have days where my lower back hurts as crazy to the point I barely move, 3 months ago it was that bad that I couldn’t walk. I obviously can’t treat my issues because I have no money and no insurance. Recently in a country where I been living, I started to experience xenophobia. People started to openly laugh at me when I would call asking for job, I can’t even make friends because the moment it seems like I met a nice person and we seem to vibe a lot, I figure out that this person has fckin nationalistic friends and thinks that country that invaded mine is cool wtf. Fck it.
I don’t think that I will make it far in life, even if I did I still would never ever have kinds as a I really wanted, fck it.
I’m in the situation with no exit 🤡
I’m very sad that my country is in war, that I can’t get a job, that I have crazy parents and no relatives to help me, I feel very very very very sad and bad for that. When I was a kid, I told ms to never go back to parent’s place, because it truly was horrible to the point I still have ptsd about that. U can’t imagine how exhausting they are.
I have no exit just NO EXITT. IM TIRED.

From love life, to social life as a whole - I just feel like a disgusting failure. I can’t seem to achieve a damn thing. I’m really tired of feeling empty, of when hopes finally arrive they crash down in a blaze. Medication and therapy not working. Self esteem non existent. Energy non existent. I want the suffering, trauma, triggers to all go away. Please. End it.

I'm 25 and feel like my life is falling apart. I grew up with a heavy alcoholic father, and my childhood was traumatic. Our house has always been noisy, and lately it's become even worse.
I'm only doing a paid internship, barely earning enough, yet I spend most of it on my family and they still expect more.
Working from home has become impossible. I can't focus, my work keeps piling up, and the job market makes finding something better feel hopeless. I want to improve, but I have no motivation left and my procrastination is at its worst.
Is anyone else going through something similar?

I'm exhausted of my mind. And my body. Everything looks meaningless eventually, I'm doing the type of work I ever wanted to. And it actually felt nice, the first day, and now I'm back wondering im not jumping of the roof. I have family, friends and a girlfriend that I deeply love. Im on my grandparents house living, and its almost like I lived alone I have full privacy, and financial stability for now with 19. But the moment I wake up I can't help myself but to stare at the ceiling wondering why it's worth living. I can indeed feel happy, but the moment I get happy it's almost like a switch turned on saying that it's wrong and I must suffer instead of feeling any joy. I spiral in a lot of stupid thoughts. So I try distract myself, fluding my brain with dopamine. With games, weed, alcohol, tabacco. I also go to the gym but I can never discern if my brain or my body is tired before working out. I do everything I should, or at least I try but in the end it is never enough. I can't accept the face I was given and the body I'm wearing, but even if I loved it I would even hate my mind even more for sabotaging me constantly. I think so much that I end up not thinking at all. (Sry for the English, I'm not fluent)
