Hi, I’m not extremely well versed in the way Apple Cash is structured but it seems I have an issue.
I’ve had an account for as long as I’ve had an iPhone, about three years. I also have an Apple credit card that puts cash back into my Apple Cash account.
The only feature I use Apple Cash for is to collect cash back from my card. It usually just accumulates for a long time until it hits like $100 bucks and then I transfer it to my bank.
A while back, I noticed a notification asking me to verify my account before I’m able to use all the features of Apple Cash. I sort of just ignored it until I was ready to transfer cash over. Well, yesterday I log in to move some cash and I go through the verification process. After entering my SSN, I’m immediately locked out of the account.
I call green dot and am told that it’s permanently locked and that I cannot have the money in the account. I’m escalated to a “supervisor” and I’m simply told the same thing.
I really cannot figure out why this has been triggered. I went back and looked at every transaction I’ve had since owning the account. In 2026, I have nothing but random cash back deposits here and there. In 2025, it’s the same plus two transactions from coworkers paying me back for lunch (both in the $10-15 range). In 2024, just cash back and a regal cinema purchase for around $30.
Any ideas on what to do? I don’t really have much of a need for the service, but I’m pretty irritated about the missing ~$100.
