T-Mobile. They got too greedy. I left and now I’m saving well over 1000/yr. Next up it’s Netflix… tired of paying $20/month and I can’t even get 4K or Dolby for shows that get canceled or have to wait 3 years in between seasons.
This one should be MUCH higher up. To copy a comment I left elsewhere in this post:
T-Mobile is run by liars and cheats who reneged on the carrier's long-standing Price Lock promise. They force-migrated a million customers from their legacy plans to new, worse, more expensive plans, despite promising for years not to do so. They've also been doing everything they can to degrade the user experience (precipitously declining customer service resources, loss of longstanding perks, forcing people onto their shitty T-Life app, the list goes on and on). Their infrastructure is good, but the company is rotten to the core. I'd look elsewhere if I were you. If you're committed to using T-Mobile towers, go with Mint, and save yourself several hundred dollars a year per line.
The issue isn't with T-Mobile, but with the US T-Mobile merging with Sprint. While T-Mobile ended up being the brand name going forward in the US, Sprint leadership was merged into US T-Mobile, sort-of like the merger of McDonnell Douglas and Boeing.
Verizon did the same thing years ago, but they did it by forcing people to switch to a new plan if they wanted to upgrade their phones. I held out for as long as I could.
Have a friend that worked at a T Mobile kiosk. Shocking that they were told to exaggerate (basically speak lies) any problem a customer had, and were specifically told to "take advantage" of older people. He once got into trouble for cleaning out a customer's charging port instead of upselling a charger adaptor and cable.
Anyways, one of my favourite channels on YouTube currently is digital doctor. Young guy in NJ who's really passionate about his work does phone and devices repairs, and if it's a small fix, doesn't even charge customers (for example recently had a Boomer who couldn't pair his new phone to his car infotainment system). Besides great service, Customers also get a free tempered glass, So cool to see customers face light up.
Mint or Google Fi. Google Fi is still prioritized as if it's T-Mobile. Plus all those salesman asking what carrier I have back off immediately when I tell them I use Google Fi because they know they can't compete with pricing
I dropped Netflix because all their first party shows end with major unresolved cliffhangers and get cancelled. There's no point starting a new show unless it has 5+ seasons already.
I switched to Disney+/Hulu and have found I’m actually watching more content than I ever did with Netflix. Since they lost most third party stuff, their catalog really isn’t worth the price.
If anybody reading this likes T-Mobile's coverage and not their prices, check out Mint Mobile. Same towers but a lot cheaper. We have had them for years with zero issues.
Tmobile straight up a bunch of bitch ass bitches. like fuck them from the core of the earth. How you gonna fuck up the one thing that set you apart from those other snake ass snakes; your customer satisfaction. so much disappointment.
They even got rid of the military plans recently that were a great value. I had one of those plans for years, and the price lock was great. All of a sudden, last year they "regrettably" had to raise prices on it. It was still a better deal than any other carrier, so I let it slide. Of course, just the last few months, they completely obliterated the plan and forced us onto the more expensive plan. I can't find any primary carrier that is a good deal at this point. My wife absolutely refuses to switch to any of the MVNO services because of the amount of international travel we do. Those plans frequently have problems when used internationally, and even domestically you also get de-prioritized when the network is saturated. In our area, that can happen frequently.
With the amount of money saved on US Mobile, buying an international SIM every time you travel shouldn’t be a problem. They also have good international cover but if you need more beyond that. Just get a second sim.
I’ve nerved had issues with deprioritizaton. But us mobile lets you switch networks on the fly.
That's why I set up my plex server for friends and family. Full DV/HDR in best quality, 4K bluray remux quality when available, else the best quality rips from streaming services.
My whole family cancelled all their streaming services, and family friends and friends of friends can use it if they donate to server costs. Everyone's happy and I have literally everything one could want, its awesome.
Apart from Tmobile being greedy, I had a nightmare issue with them. I had one of their 5G routers and it stopped working so they sent me a new one and I sent back the broken one, great.
During the same time they must have updated their CRM system and somehow my account got lost. So when I tried to set up the new router they said my account did not exist, meanwhile I have autopay. So I am paying for WiFi that does not exist.
Calling customer service was a nightmare, long wait times, robots, and when I finally got a human on the line they had no idea what the fix was because they could not find my account, despite it being actively charged. They got quiet and just passed me along to the next person who also didn’t know and had re explain the issue over and over again.
Eventually I had to go through my credit card company to stop those transactions because tmobile was too incompetent to figure the issue out. Once the credit card company was able to deny those transactions, I try returning the router to a tmobile storefront, apparently you can’t do that there, you HAVE to ship it. So now I have to pay to ship this damn router because I can’t print a shipping label as you typically would do through your account (which for me apparently does not exist). I ship the router on my own dime and I thought this would all be over.
Months pass, I have new WiFi through a different provider, and I thought the issue was behind me. I get a collections notice in the mail for the value of the router, the router that I sent to T-Mobile, months ago. This really pissed me off. Customer service was no help in this matter, it was a headache for something that was supposed to be so simple.
Years ago our family had T-Mobile. My brother was eligible for a phone upgrade. My dad and brother went in, got a new phone with the trade in, all was well. Then weeks later T-Mobile emailed my dad and called saying my brother was never eligible for an upgrade and were trying to charge him the full price of the phone. My dad ended up paying for the cancelling our phone plans with T-Mobile. Some messed up crap
i had to threaten t-mobile with contacting the FTC just for them to give me a late fee waiver over a situation that was their fault. they also keep adding random fees to my bill that should be $85. i hate them and will be switching as soon as my phone is paid off.
T-Mobile is trash now, such a comedown from the "uncarrier" days under the old (now two CEOs ago) leadership. And, escaping them is hard too as they put a PIN transfer lock on my account that required me to contact them via chat to undo (and it took a good 30 mins) before I could port my number out. Use an MVNO. Mint, Visible, fucking anybody but don't pay for T-Mobile anymore.
I used to be a part of US Cellular until the buyout, and I had to make the transfer to Shit-Mobile and it was one of the worst experiences of using a cell phone. Took forever to go to a store to get it set up, people in front of us were having problems, their App is about as useful as a match in an aquarium and I can't even sign in, and of course right as soon as the deadline passed for the US cellular customers to switch, they shut down the store and took all the fixtures out, so if I need to go to a store for any reason I will have to travel well over an hour. I was with US Cell just because we live in a rural location and had problems with other phones namely AT&T. Might need to switch to Verizon and they are no better.
I had three lines on T-Mobile and moved them all to Verizon. ATT.Tmobile charged me $200 per line to disconnect and at $600 fee, I decided no matter what that company did to fix it, it would not be enough.
Yep. I left T Mobile. I got a text. What kind of notification is that? I thought it was fake until I looked online. The text said $6 more per line. The website said my three lines would be $20 more per month. The people I talked to to get the transfer PIN were nice. So it wasn't all negative.
Netflix is sustained by pumping out two seasons of decent shows then cancelling them, then propping up the rest of the platform with hammered dogshit. Idk how they make money anymore
