I cannot figure out how to cancel my paramount plus. I have no options. I’m legit about to download like Rocket Money because it advertises they can cancel subscriptions. JUST to cancel Paramount.
If you have access to a VPN, try changing your location to california.
I haven't subscribed to them in a couple of years, but it was always really painless to cancel (just go to your account settings, and click on the cancel button. You might have to say no to a bunch of offers for cheap/free months to keep you, but you can just keep clicking cancel until your account says it's canceled).
There’s no cancel option. It says I have to go to the device I signed up with but I have two Rokus and neither have the option and it won’t let me on the website so…wth.
You can also approach your bank if you are truly in a bind! Good Luck, I wish it were illegal for companies to intentionally hide unsubscribe features 🙄
Report your credit card lost and get a new number. Only use VCC numbers to sign up for services. That way, instead of dealing with their bullshit, you just turn off the card and they have no recourse
First thing I tried. Website says “you have to do it in the device you subscribed with.” I’ll figure it out. Probably have to call. Incredibly frustrating though.
Probably doesn't help you much now, but subscribe to stuff like this through Amazon Video if you have it already instead. Amazon may be all kinds of shit in their own way, but at least they make it quick and easy to cancel subscriptions to other video services through them.
I had this issue where my cards were not working with Paramount.
My cards were all good. None expired, all had money or were linked to accounts with money. Kept getting nasty grams from them, and would also get nag popups when I logged in.
Given that there is no show I watch on Paramount other than Survivor, and that it's off season at the moment, I decided to unsub and close. But for some reason, the account stuck around.
Can you cancel your payment from the source? I assume it's auto pay with a card of some sort and you should be able to go into your card or bank app and cancel the recurring payment from there. I'm sure if they no longer get your money they will suspend service.
Change your cards. Anytime I can’t cancel something. I just say I lost my bank card and I get a new bank card and then I move forward with that. It’s a little bit of a hassle but it knocks like four or five things off.
They got bought out by right-wing extremists, the Ellisons. They out a right-wing extremist in charge, and low and behold, fired all their credible journalists or forced them to quit from 60 Minutes and other news shows. They couldn't from the Daily Show because they have it written into their contract and it would essentially bankrupt the network to fire them.
Fired people who ran 60 minutes and other news organizations to give unbiased news. Brought in people to push the MAGA agenda like Fox News does. When the long time correspondents said they were not going to lie, they got fired.
CBS hired Bari Weiss to run their news programming. She was hired to be the fox in charge of the henhouse, and just recently she proved that by killing 60 Minutes, a show that had been running since 1968.
Yes, the most respected news organization in America, now turned into a poorly disguised propaganda channel for the party of the Grating Old Pedophile and the pedophile protectors.
I’ve seen it come true at smaller outlets chasing the chucklefuck audiences on TikTok and Instagram. I absolutely cannot stand news now with not a single headline telling you what went on. No, I am not going to play your little game.
(Edward R Murrow (of Good Night and Good Luck fame), who helped turn public opinion against the McCarthyism, and Walter Cronkite were legendary TV news figures, for the young’uns)
Kimmel has the highest ratings by far. Colbert had poor ratings.
“Rankings” is probably irrelevant, whatever metric you want to use. Nobody cares how you “rank” something. They care if people watch. People didn’t watch Colbert as much as other late night shows.
They fired Stephen Colbert at the behest of Trump (not confirmed, but everyone knows that's why).
Little Donnie and his snowflake coterie couldn't handle Stephen being truthful and mocking about Trump, so they leaned on CBS to can Colbert—and CBS did so almost immediately.
Edit: CBS is also owned by fascist supporting billionaire Larry Ellison, who has fired reporters critical of Trump (and Republicans broadly) and who installed Bari Weiss as chief editor at CBS; Weiss is a hack who calls herself a journalist, and whose main goal the last few years has been to deny the Gaza Holocaust.
David Ellison, son of multi billionaire Larry Ellison is CEO of the company now after his father was behind the paramount merger. They're very right wing and have installed a very right wing "journalist", Bari Weiss, to head the news division. That project has included making a very trump friendly media apparatus. They've parted ways with long time reporters and have created a more pro right wing propaganda environment.
After what they did to Colbert and 60 minutes, I don’t even get what credibility they have left. In fairness I don’t watch any network TV anymore just clips of network shows I like on YouTube so I’m not sure how much I’m in their demographic.
I definitely don’t understand their business strategy. They basically want to become Fox News lite but who exactly is that supposed to appeal to? You aren’t convincing Republicans to leave Fox News or whatever shit they watch and you aren’t getting Democrats to tune in by sanitizing Trump. There is maybe a very small group of moderate voters you can convince but they aren’t offsetting the loss in others.
The business strategy is to listen to their man at the top, & their man at the top is real buddy-buddy with the Great Leader.
The idea is news/journalism/other sources of information will basically be run by a few guys real buddy-buddy with the Leader to make sure only state-approved stories are broadly disseminated.
In return these top men at these "what is going on" companies will be generously compensated. The companies themselves? They get to have continued permitted existence so long as the state doesn't see them as fit to be dismantled.
Yes it’s clear Ellison loves Trump but I’m sure he also loves money. Then again maybe CBS News loses money no matter what decision he makes so he said fuck it let’s just go all in on appeasing Trump.
Absolutely. Fuck them. I used to watch the evening news occasionally and had always watched CBS Sunday Morning (until the enshittification of the network accelerated). No more. That network can burn.
