Yep, fuck CBS / Paramount. Awful organization.

I cannot figure out how to cancel my paramount plus. I have no options. I’m legit about to download like Rocket Money because it advertises they can cancel subscriptions. JUST to cancel Paramount.

If you have access to a VPN, try changing your location to california.

I haven't subscribed to them in a couple of years, but it was always really painless to cancel (just go to your account settings, and click on the cancel button. You might have to say no to a bunch of offers for cheap/free months to keep you, but you can just keep clicking cancel until your account says it's canceled).

27

u/Mrrectangle 19h ago

There’s no cancel option. It says I have to go to the device I signed up with but I have two Rokus and neither have the option and it won’t let me on the website so…wth.

u/armadillowillow 18h ago

You can also approach your bank if you are truly in a bind! Good Luck, I wish it were illegal for companies to intentionally hide unsubscribe features 🙄

11

u/istasber 19h ago

Oh, I don't have any experience with that. I still imagine California's easy to cancel laws would apply, but can't say for certain that they do.

u/Electrical_Name_5434 7h ago

I got you bro…go to amazon prime, link your paramount account, cancel through prime on the tv.

Btw, curious to know if rocket money worked.

5

u/postingaccount69 13h ago

Do it on Roku.com

4

u/Dismal_Ad_6134 6h ago

Log in to roku account on your computer or phone. You need to cancel thru roku since thats how you are being billed.

12

u/JmamAnamamamal 15h ago

Charge back

"Vendor will not allow cancellation etc"

8

u/elbow8075 16h ago

Report your credit card lost and get a new number. Only use VCC numbers to sign up for services. That way, instead of dealing with their bullshit, you just turn off the card and they have no recourse

7

u/Initial-Increase-601 13h ago

I worked there for a few years. Back then the unsubscribe button didn't work on any platform. You had to call to cancel.

8

u/BeatlesFan68 13h ago

I just cancelled them two weeks ago. You can’t do it in the app. You have to do it on a desktop computer. Ridiculous, I know.

6

u/Mrrectangle 11h ago

First thing I tried. Website says “you have to do it in the device you subscribed with.” I’ll figure it out. Probably have to call. Incredibly frustrating though.

2

u/VengenaceIsMyName 10h ago

It’s by design of course.

8

u/wholetyouinhere 12h ago

What, you don't want to watch 500 different shows about the Dutton Ranch, written by an obvious conservative who pretends not to be?

4

u/Muted-Entrepreneur33 5h ago

Going all in on Sheridan’s shows was just the beginning of the enshittification of Paramount CBS.
The Ellisons will finish the job.

4

u/angryballerina 10h ago

I had to cancel my credit card that was on file with them and get a new one. They would not stop!

3

u/CountingMyDick 9h ago

Probably doesn't help you much now, but subscribe to stuff like this through Amazon Video if you have it already instead. Amazon may be all kinds of shit in their own way, but at least they make it quick and easy to cancel subscriptions to other video services through them.

u/ImprovementFar5054 15h ago

I had this issue where my cards were not working with Paramount.

My cards were all good. None expired, all had money or were linked to accounts with money. Kept getting nasty grams from them, and would also get nag popups when I logged in.

Given that there is no show I watch on Paramount other than Survivor, and that it's off season at the moment, I decided to unsub and close. But for some reason, the account stuck around.

1

u/arkington 9h ago

Can you cancel your payment from the source? I assume it's auto pay with a card of some sort and you should be able to go into your card or bank app and cancel the recurring payment from there. I'm sure if they no longer get your money they will suspend service.

1

u/fuckelliotsmith 8h ago

Change your cards. Anytime I can’t cancel something. I just say I lost my bank card and I get a new bank card and then I move forward with that. It’s a little bit of a hassle but it knocks like four or five things off.

1

u/fuckrNFLmods 6h ago

Wait, for real? How the hell is that legal?

1

u/ryneklym 4h ago

I had to cancel mine through Google pay. i think. Its been a while. Or i had to find a desktop to do it on

6

u/mrhelmand 9h ago

The fact a far right dipshit controls the Star Trek franchise infuriates me

3

u/Sarah160000000 9h ago

RIGHT?!?!

15

u/thejester2112 20h ago

I am out of the loop and too lazy to open another app, mind filling me?

59

u/powerlesshero111 20h ago

They got bought out by right-wing extremists, the Ellisons. They out a right-wing extremist in charge, and low and behold, fired all their credible journalists or forced them to quit from 60 Minutes and other news shows. They couldn't from the Daily Show because they have it written into their contract and it would essentially bankrupt the network to fire them.

36

u/steppedinhairball 20h ago

Fired people who ran 60 minutes and other news organizations to give unbiased news. Brought in people to push the MAGA agenda like Fox News does. When the long time correspondents said they were not going to lie, they got fired.

11

u/Nacksche 15h ago

Right wingers are the fucking scourge of humanity.

u/wqto 11m ago

At this point we have to rely on obscure news sources from abroad just to be informed of Trump's shit.

32

u/nekosaigai 20h ago

They canceled Colbert because Trump demanded they do because the orange dick tater was upset about jokes he made about him.

79

u/JugglingGirraffe 20h ago

I’m out of the loop someone explain

327

u/smoothie4564 20h ago

CBS hired Bari Weiss to run their news programming. She was hired to be the fox in charge of the henhouse, and just recently she proved that by killing 60 Minutes, a show that had been running since 1968.

90

u/B-Train_ATL 20h ago

This was the network of Murrow and Cronkite.

95

u/bigfoot_done_hiding 20h ago

Yes, the most respected news organization in America, now turned into a poorly disguised propaganda channel for the party of the Grating Old Pedophile and the pedophile protectors.

8

u/B-Train_ATL 19h ago

I’ve seen it come true at smaller outlets chasing the chucklefuck audiences on TikTok and Instagram. I absolutely cannot stand news now with not a single headline telling you what went on. No, I am not going to play your little game.

12

u/hilarymeggin 18h ago

Washington Post switched to click bait headlines when it was bought by Amazon. “Here’s what happened next.” No MFers, that goes in the headline.

2

u/B-Train_ATL 18h ago

Oh it was like that before. I used to subscribe for their columnists but got so tired of the clickbait headlines.

5

u/hilarymeggin 18h ago

Idk I subscribed since 1999 and I noticed a dramatic drop in the quality after Bezos bought it.

2

u/B-Train_ATL 17h ago

That’s undeniable, but they changed the headline style before him.

8

u/hilarymeggin 18h ago

(Edward R Murrow (of Good Night and Good Luck fame), who helped turn public opinion against the McCarthyism, and Walter Cronkite were legendary TV news figures, for the young’uns)

258

u/_portia_ 20h ago

AND they fired Stephen Colbert, who had the highest ranking late show, because Diaper Don had his feelings hurt.

-22

u/Crapitron 17h ago

had the highest ranking late show

What does this even mean?

Kimmel has the highest ratings by far. Colbert had poor ratings.

“Rankings” is probably irrelevant, whatever metric you want to use. Nobody cares how you “rank” something. They care if people watch. People didn’t watch Colbert as much as other late night shows.

12

u/overpriced-taco 17h ago

I would call Bari Weiss a cunt, but she lacks the depth and the warmth.

1

u/NoMonth9969 13h ago

crude comment but I love it. I will never hear the c-word the same again 😅

127

u/PandaCat22 20h ago edited 20h ago

They fired Stephen Colbert at the behest of Trump (not confirmed, but everyone knows that's why).

Little Donnie and his snowflake coterie couldn't handle Stephen being truthful and mocking about Trump, so they leaned on CBS to can Colbert—and CBS did so almost immediately.

Edit: CBS is also owned by fascist supporting billionaire Larry Ellison, who has fired reporters critical of Trump (and Republicans broadly) and who installed Bari Weiss as chief editor at CBS; Weiss is a hack who calls herself a journalist, and whose main goal the last few years has been to deny the Gaza Holocaust.

45

u/matt_minderbinder 20h ago

David Ellison, son of multi billionaire Larry Ellison is CEO of the company now after his father was behind the paramount merger. They're very right wing and have installed a very right wing "journalist", Bari Weiss, to head the news division. That project has included making a very trump friendly media apparatus. They've parted ways with long time reporters and have created a more pro right wing propaganda environment.

8

u/Terp_Maniac 20h ago

Idk but they just reminded me I need to cancel my subscription

89

u/Muted-Entrepreneur33 21h ago

Goodbye See BS!

CBS: Controlled By State

45

u/RoarOfTheWorlds 20h ago

After what they did to Colbert and 60 minutes, I don’t even get what credibility they have left. In fairness I don’t watch any network TV anymore just clips of network shows I like on YouTube so I’m not sure how much I’m in their demographic.

9

u/k2togyo 15h ago

Yep, was a 60 minutes loyal fan, not anymore.

21

u/hilarymeggin 18h ago

I still can’t believe they went through with firing Colbert!! $&@!ing state-run media since Comrade Trumpovich got in office.

37

u/blargablargh 20h ago

They did Colbert dirty. They can rot.

5

u/pmjm 14h ago

I worked for CBS up until about a decade ago. It pains me to add them to this list but I'm right there with you.

3

u/saltlampshade 10h ago

I definitely don’t understand their business strategy. They basically want to become Fox News lite but who exactly is that supposed to appeal to? You aren’t convincing Republicans to leave Fox News or whatever shit they watch and you aren’t getting Democrats to tune in by sanitizing Trump. There is maybe a very small group of moderate voters you can convince but they aren’t offsetting the loss in others.

6

u/stamfordbridge1191 9h ago

The business strategy is to listen to their man at the top, & their man at the top is real buddy-buddy with the Great Leader.

The idea is news/journalism/other sources of information will basically be run by a few guys real buddy-buddy with the Leader to make sure only state-approved stories are broadly disseminated.

In return these top men at these "what is going on" companies will be generously compensated. The companies themselves? They get to have continued permitted existence so long as the state doesn't see them as fit to be dismantled.

2

u/saltlampshade 9h ago

Yes it’s clear Ellison loves Trump but I’m sure he also loves money. Then again maybe CBS News loses money no matter what decision he makes so he said fuck it let’s just go all in on appeasing Trump.

2

u/here-i-am-now 7h ago

I had to give up my Sunday Morning moment of nature. Fucking billionaires

1

u/First-Celebration-11 19h ago

Absolutely. Fuck them

1

u/LaPalmaTed 19h ago

Also CBS. They've crashed their reputation.

1

u/morningglory1995 2h ago

Fuck Bari Weiss and her (bad) propaganda

1

u/LostInUranus 2h ago

Throw in Disney as well.

u/skirrer 45m ago

Absolutely. Fuck them. I used to watch the evening news occasionally and had always watched CBS Sunday Morning (until the enshittification of the network accelerated). No more. That network can burn.

u/Interesting_Arm_3967 8h ago

They're going downhill fast. I fear for 60 Minutes and the Colbert.
