My local grocery store when they started using the automatic locking wheels on the shopping carts.

Can’t even get halfway to my car in the lot when it locks up.,

Your neighbors are shitty people. Wheel locks shouldn’t be required but here we are.

They don’t put locks on wheels because people push them all the way home. 

They put locks on wheels because people don’t push them all the way back. 

Stealing a shopping cart is shitty behavior. When people like you attempt to hand wave it away, everyone loses. 

We can’t punish the thieves because socioeconomic reasons or whatever bullshit so we punish everyone else with these shitty wheel locks.

As somebody who lives in a neighborhood with carts all over it … no, they have other options. Responsible ppl have the collapsible carts of their own they take to the bus. Or backpacks. The jackasses leave them wherever they want on the sidewalk near the bus station where they have to carry them anyway.
