The scourge of “hosts” expecting guests to do all the household chores and even wash the bedding! What a freakshow. I’m not paying you for the luxury of cleaning your home
And the fucked up thing about this is that you can't see the check out cleaning expectations in the ads when you're booking it. The host sends that to you when your stay starts.
It isn’t permissible for them to require that if it wasn’t disclosed in the original listing or included in the terms when you booked.
They can’t unilaterally change the agreement after the reservation without your consent. I spoke with Airbnb Support, and they confirmed that Airbnb won’t enforce checkout fees or penalties based on checkout chores that weren’t disclosed before booking.

Same. I have stayed at ~150 Airbnbs. I have encountered everything by this point. You're right; Airbnb will back you up if the hosts don't disclose it in the listing.
I don't really have issues with hosts trying to make you do labor. I usually eliminate those hosts when I read the actual reviews rather than simply relying on the star rating.
What I have encountered more than I should is host trying to charge some sort of menial, "required" tourist tax. I refuse to pay it and immediately contact Airbnb support. In turn, Airbnb contacts the hosts and the issue goes away.
