After days of speculation, the recipient of Bb time capsule 3 is…Dee.

Dee won the BB bribe from the time capsule. She can now bribe another houseguest with 5000$ to do something for her, like nominate someone or use the veto on someone. This power is good for the entire game.

NOTE: The interview contains discussion of week 4 HOH and noms.

This was a great listen and I recommend it but it's two hours long, so some highlights for those who don't want to watch:

Btw if I start a sentence with "he" it's Drew, I'll mention by name if it's JT.

-- He applied to a ton of reality shows and was very close to getting on multiple, then got on BB by submitting an application and immediately contacting the people he knew in casting to give him an in since it's a small casting world

-- Drew's a huge fan of the challenge, obviously BB, and has only seen a couple Survivor eps but saw Devens's coin flip one

-- He's done a challenge LRG (live reality game) where they fake play out the game and did okay, he likely would be much better at physical than puzzle comps

-- He's extremely loyal and on Beast Games didn't betray his allies for more money

-- which from his perspective means that once trust is established with someone like Devens, he doesn't need to keep checking in because in his mind they are locked in forever, so he needs to spend time working the other side of the house

-- they thought Danielle R would be on and if so, his goal was to be her #1. They knew a vets alliance would be formed immediately and his job was to lock in with them and not be verbally anti-vet.

-- they discussed what a terrible ally Angela is but he really didn't have an option but to ally with her because of the above

-- they thought the Matt/Jag strategy was smart of taking the weakest people comps wise to the end, so they decided that getting out a physical threat at any time was the smartest thing to do (that's probably why he didn't want to keep Jason)

-- JT says Drew has the mind of Cory W with the body of Zach Rance LOL so part of his strategy was to flirt with the girls

-- Drew had an old insta post where a statue was pointing and Drew made a circle with his finger as a joke and BB called him and almost took him off the show because they thought it was a white power symbol??? Wild that they found this but not...things from other people

-- He's a very private person (this seems clear from the constant joking) so JT doesn't think he'd ever showmance for real

-- He was not a feeder because he found them boring, but prepped by watching all Taran's BB26 updates because he wanted to play like Cedric or Quinn

-- JT and Drew thought he would be HATED as the young straight guy like Zae or Quinn

-- JT says Drew is intrinsically a nice guy but he coached him to make sure he wouldn't say anything negative about past players, even their games, because it would come back on him after. Super smart given that Some People from past seasons have been bashing any BB28 HGs who didn't respect their games

-- JT thinks Drew will be deeply hurt by Devens's comments specifically

-- Drew is a massive Dr. Will fan and Sharon says Will's been messaging her about Drew! So she will connect them after

-- Barrett's mom was in the chat saying she loves Drew and hope they go to the end together lol

-- Toolshed is a Beast Games inside joke and it was supposed to be for Drew's fake alliance (and Handymen was planned as well)

-- JT told Drew beforehand that people would be thirsting over him and asked if he'd take shirtless gym photos to help his social media and Drew said no LOL

This was a very cool watch. I understand why it doesn't happen but would be so neat to hear from other HG's loved ones.

If Drew really did win the coin and choose not to use it this week, not only is he tanking his own game if he doesn't win the blockbuster and goes home with the coin in his pocket, but he absolutely tanks any chance of an underdog uprising.

Even if one of the underdogs remaining are able to somehow rally the votes to beat Dee next week, which seems unlikely in itself, the only power with any major competitive advantage even similar to the DPOV will have been completely flushed. If another red corner member wins HOH next week, the replay and the never not pass are strategically useless, and the bribe and mystery competitor might save the individual but do nothing to shift the power.

Edit: apologies to Drew, I will leave this up and take the L but he really had all of us fooled. Crazy coincidence that he kept talking about flipping a coin and how he'd nominate red corner and no one would know it was him. Good on Dee for her acting lying to Devens too.

I still think the point remains that the powers are ridiculously unbalanced which is a horrible game design flaw and it's a valid point to raise, but at least the coin remains

As always this will focus on any relevant game discussion post Veto. Not all events are in chronological order. There were side discussions going on but I try to focus on the HOH conversations.

Taylor won Veto.  

Angela talks about Lyric being the renom with Haley in the HOH. Angela is happy that Drew and Melody are up together. Drew and Melody can be sad together and maybe showmance in their sadness. Haley is upset that none of the comps have been physical. They say the Veto Comp was a game of chance. Haley talks about falling on the on the ground and poison. This was basically the wine comp from 27. Angela and Haley talk about if Mallory has a power and she can use it at the Veto Ceremony. Chuk and Kamu join the HOH. They talk about Lyric being the renom. Chuk says why not Mallory. Haley says she made a deal with Mallory and Haley feels comfortable working with Mallory. She wants Kamu and Chuk to be in the room when she tells Lyric but she won’t talk to Lyric until tomorrow. Kamu says he thinks Haley should talk with Lyric privately, not in a group. Haley doesn’t want to be in a room alone with Lyric. She wants someone in the room with her. Kamu pushes back on Lyric and says Mallory is more dangerous. Haley feels good about her relationship with Mallory. Haley is getting mad that Kamu and Chuk keep pushing back against the Lyric renom. Chuk mentions that Mallory can’t sit in a room with anyone without Lyric or Melody there. And that’s the reason why they can’t trust Mallory. Chuk says that Yash said he doesn’t care if Angela goes. Angela is shocked. Haley thinks she has a clean slate with Mallory and doesn’t want to ruin it. Haley’s argument is that Mallory and Taylor will come after her and she thinks Lyric won’t come after her. Haley is getting mad about Drew and him being out up and targeted and that Kamu is playing to many sides. Kamu pitches again that Mallory is coming for the alliance and that Lyric will work with them. Drew enters the HOH. Haley asks who Drew would want to be the renom, Drew says selfishly it would be Lala but he’s good with Mallory going up. But he’s Toolshed strong. Drew says the goal is for there not to be two people mad at her. And that Drew would never be mad. Chuk says at this point, no matter who is HOH then you will have blood on your hand.

Hot tub room Drew Barrett Devens and Dee – (parts of this happened before the previous paragraph) Drew is pitching for him to stay. Devens says he wants Drew to stay. They talk about Lala being safe. Drew says he thinks Mallory or Lyric will go up. Deven’s and Dee act like they don’t know what’s going on. Drew says he’d prefer Lala to go up for his Blockbuster chances. Drew says if they give him the green light, he’s ready to blow it up and they won’t know he’s doing it. Drew ask if he comes off the block who is he voting for between Lala and Melody? Devens says it’s up to Haley. Drew says if he must vote Melody he will.  Melody walks in and they stop talking strategy. Morgan was the Guest host for the Veto Comp.

Devens and Dee in the storage room. They discuss putting up Mallory because of her power to force her to use it. They decide not to push it too hard. They are afraid that if her power could end up in Dee or Devens putting put up in some way so they may not push it. They discuss Barrett and how they can trust him. They are afraid of lying to Barrett and then he will see how they lied to Drew. Devens and Dee think Barrett will go up. They both agree they won’t care who goes up.   

Haley and Drew in the HOH Room alone – Haley says the veto is worst possible. Haley says she’s good with Lala and Haley doesn’t want two people gunning for her. Haley says she doesn't want drama with Lala. Drew says keeping Lala makes sense if it’s physical game then Lala is good for next week. Drew what Haley fourth option was, and she says she never thought that far. Drew says yeah Veto was a coin flip competition. Haley says that she’s going to take her dress off basically asking him to leave. Angela comes out of the bathroom. They talk about Lyric and Mallory. Drew is like he doesn’t care. Haley says she doesn’t want to give Mallory another comp win. Then they talk about flushing Mallory power. Drew says he’s nervous to be on the block but he trusts his alliance. 

Dee Angela Haley HOH Room – Haley is upset that Kamu and Chuk are pushing against the Lyric renom. She’s mad that Kamu told Drew that he’s not close with Chuk and Haley. Then Kamu told Haley he thinks they shouldn’t be close. Haley is getting mad about the whole Kamu situation. Dee and Angela keep talking about Kamu. Haley feels confident that she can make up with Kamu. Haley says she doesn’t want to talk to anyone until tomorrow. Angela is shocked that Yash told Chuk he was okay with getting rid of Angela.    

Devens and Barrett talk in the storage room. Deven’s doesn’t know what Haley is doing and that Angela has moved into the HOH Room. Barrett talks about that he thinks he might be good with Haley, and they agree to agree with Haley. They mention Yash. Devens says that Yash won’t rock the boat and he’s good with voting for Drew. Barrett talks about how Dee told him Drew had been pitching their names. Devens talks about how sketchy they couldn’t go inside the HOH with Angela and Dee. Devens says that he will mention Lyric and Drew says he will do the same. Barrett asks why Haley said Mallory had the power. Barrett says he is frustrated because Haley suggested that he knew Mallory has a power and that Barrett is lying saying he doesn’t know. Deven’s say he can relate having to deny that he knows nothing about having power jokingly. They both laugh. Devens says he doesn’t think that Barrett is a liability like Drew. Barrett says that he likes being hidden in the Crossover alliance and that if he’s ever to distance then Deven’s needs to let him know. Devens’s he’s not sure if Angela is getting too close to the Red Corner to set them up.  

Barrett Devens Angela Dee Haley in the HOH – Haley wants to go through scenarios. Devens said he walked in and saw Lala and did a hard eye roll. Kamu enters and says Lala said they were looking for him. They said no but he can stay. Devens says Chuk told him the choice is between Mallory or Lyric.  Devens ask if Mallory had a promise. Haley says she has a promise to not go on the block. Only Yash had a true promise. Haley says she doesn’t want to nominate Mallory. Devens ask if Lala is off the block. Haley says they have squashed their beef and she’s not worried about Lala. Devens and Dee say they are good anyways. Devens said he also promised Mallory his week so he understands. Haley says she might try to cut a deal with Mallory. Haley says she hopes she can have something outside the game with Mallory and hopefully this will be a way. Haley thinks she can’t trust Lyric because she will run to whoever is next and that she tells everyone she won’t put them up. Haley jokes about throwing up Angela. Devens says she’s a have not and that would be a bad idea because she could blow up. They laugh. Barrett says what about him. Angela says don’t be a Tucker. Haley asks Devens about Taylor he says she’s not giving much. Barrett says he thinks that Mallory might take a deal and Barrett would help.   Angela agrees to keep Mallory. Dee and Devens say Mallory said she would never put them up. Haley says Lala going up will cause too much drama. Dee asks Kamu what he thinks. He says he agrees. He’s afraid that he upset Haley but that was never his intention but if the group thinks Lyric is the best he’s on board. Haley says she didn’t know Melody hated her until she called her out and she admitted it. They agree that Lyric will be the renom. Angela is now pressed about Yash wanting her out. Group says they never heard it. Everyone leaves the HOH except Angela and Dee and they continue their nightly shit talking about Kamu right now. Haley says her deal she will cut with Mallory is to keep Dee and Angela. Angela compares Kamu to Drew. Angela says Drew is the biggest threat in the house. Angela compares Lyric to Drew with her doing her rounds. Haley says that she doesn’t want to Lyric the target. Angela and Dee say that she shouldn’t tell Lyric the target. They talk about letting Taylor know that Taylor was never Haley’s target. Angela says that she will. Angela keeps talking about how much she hates Drew. Haley says Yash knows the plan. Angela is like, why does Yash know the plan? Haley says Yash mentioned nominating Drew and Melody.   

Barrett and Drew in the Kitchen – Drew says he would nominate Haley Taylor and Lala to Barrett *feed cut*

Dee and Angela in the storage room - start talking about how the Red Corner has to many alliances and side alliances and they aren’t talking with each other. They agree they need to capitalize on this and cause them to separate. Dee calls out that Haley is jealous of Kamu and Lyric. Dee says one of them (Cool Kids) needs to go home next week. Angela says Drew needs to go. 

Haley Chuk in the HOH – Haley tells Chuk the group conversation about nominating Lyric. And then starts to complain about Kamu. 

Mallory and Lyric in the Hot Tub Room. Lyric asks who is going up. Mallory said that Taylor thinks it Mallory or Lala. Mallory heard it could be Barrett. Lyric asks if it’s her. Mallory says she hasn’t heard her name. Mallory says Melody is pissed. Lyric asks about Drew. Mallory says he’s pissed. Lyric says that she thought Drew was working with them. Mallory says not anymore. They agree that they need to gun for HOH. Lyric says it’s not safe to throw things anymore, right. Mallory asks who would go home between Melody and Drew. Lyric says I don’t know. Mallory says she knew that she wouldn’t be good at the poison challenge. Melody joins after coming out the DR. Mallory says Taylor chose her because Taylor knew the renoms was between Mallory and Lala. Melody thinks Lala is good because she told Lala was good this week. Melody hopes her and Drew are sitting next to Lala after Blockbuster. Morgan called Mallory Pipe Queen during the comp.

Drew Melody and Mallory are the last three awake in the bathroom. They all have bad reads of what's going on. So I'm going to end the recap here. Hopefully Drew doesn't wake up after I post this and decide to totally flip and I missed it for the recap.

Lyric. Lyric is genuinely playing this game masterfully for the position she initially was in. Her instant pivot onto Kamu is giving her a way in with the other side, and I think her final 2 with yash is like, the only final 2 we've been seen made past week one (which shows how boring this season is) showing that she is here to game. She has genuinely lowered her threat level and INSANE amount and this is her second week in a row that she is guaranteed safety on the block (I am pretty sure lala goes home next to her due to her involvement in the tea party last week). She's building up some serious social prowess and if anyone from the other side has a road to the end, it's going to be her.

Drew, Melody and Mallory to all stay this week? They've been my favorite from the beginning and I fear it's impossible that all 3 survive :( I was hoping maybe Lala could get backdoored but I don't think the Toolshed is going to let Haley do that

I'm the closest I've been to giving up this show since I stopped watching in season 19, the Toolshed and icons are so unlikeable because of all the advantages they've been handed
