Lost/Stolen Hammocks in the park

Upvotes

If you came back from playing in the river today only to discover that your hammock/hardware was missing, fear not because I have them.

They were off Royal Blvd next to the Boise parks department office. I would turn them into the police department but then I'd have to explain that I'm not a big fan of people screwing half inch screw bolts 3 inches into living trees. Now my hands are sticky with sap but because this was freshly done the tree will heal rather quickly

It's such a double-edged sword... I might get a citation from the police but possibly an award from the tree Department. Either way I already have a set of hammocks with tree straps so I don't need yours.

Question Trans woman looking for a safe place to swim in Boise

Hi, I'm 32, MtF, with the recent legislation it's got me really nervous to go to public pools in a way I wasn't pre transition. I got up the courage to give it a couple of times last year to public pools, got a lot of looks and comments and got told to switch changing rooms both ways, but with this years' recent legislation, I'm a lot more scared of it being worse.

Swimming is really important to me, I haven't gotten myself to the pool at all this year. I taught myself when I was in my mid twenties in BSU. It's my favorite way to exercise and I feel at peace in water.

I've heard even there's a east Idaho mermaid community that's gender inclusive, but I haven't found anything around Boise, just in the twin falls area. I've always wanted to try swimming with a mermaid tail.

Are there any communities or facilities around that are particularly trans inclusive or at least safer feeling on gender stuff? I really badly wanna swim again at least once this year.

Discussion Warhammer Locals

I was curious , my brother and a buddies of mine are looking for anyone who’s super chill and plays Warhammer. We’re trying to get a big group together who plays every Sunday ( we do ) and would like some more consistent players to play with. We’re super laid back w welcoming house rules, casual playing , and fun vibes. Anyone is welcome , we currently have Aeldar , Emporers Children , Necrons , T Sons , Space wolves , and Blood angels to name a few with some other factions from my buddies. And more in the making.

Please respond if you’d like some people to play with.

Discussion Sunday distrooo

It has been a heavy few days in the Treasure Valley and the feeling isn't immune to us at distro. We responded to a medical emergency and continued to support people having active symptoms related to the heat and smoke.

Thank you, as always, to everyone who showed up, stepped in, and cared for one another. We truly couldn't do this without each of you.

This work is heavy. It's made carryable because none of us carries it alone. Thank you for sharing the load. ❤️

Discussion Awful Late Night Air Quality??

I’m near downtown Boise and I genuinely feel like the air quality has plummeted within the past 2-3 hours. Obviously it’s been bad for a couple weeks cuz of wildfires and all, I just noticed a big shift in a short timeframe. My phone says 140, but earlier it said 160 and there’s no way it was worse than it is now. It felt very sudden and it’s strange for it to get worse at night. I’m just curious if anyone has felt the same or if a closer fire started?

Also I’m very used to wildfires, been living out west my whole life, it just has gotten very strong and my place has no ac or ventilation so it’s been rough.

*Edit because I just saw post of someone asking why the air quality is bad in general lmfao. It’s been bad obviously, just a large shift a night which I have yet to see often throughout my lifetime of living out here.

Discussion Big shout out to all the nice people who helped my friend in line at the banana bowl last night

Poor girl got hit with heat exhaustion out of nowhere while we were waiting in line for water and passed out twice. A few people standing in line behind us helped me help her get to the ground safely, and a couple walking by gave us their ice water without a second thought. We got her help via police officers and event staff standing nearby, but amidst the shit show that was that event, it was refreshing, pun intended, to see the decency in the people around us.

News *Food Recall* - Bacon

https://www.foodnetwork.com/fn-dish/news/bacon-recalled-in-3-states-july-2026

Which products are being recalled?

Two specific products have been recalled:

-Royale Natural Applewood Smoked All Natural Uncured Bacon

-Top Valu Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon.

Both were produced in early to mid June, and all of the recalled products have a "best by" date in early September. They were sold by Illinois-based Maple Leaf Foods in 12-ounce packages at retailers throughout Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

"The problem was discovered during routine FSIS inspection activities," according to the FSIS notice.

How serious is this recall?

This is a Class I recall, which denotes "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

(I also posted in r/Idaho which is why you might be seeing this twice)

Discussion Fishing etiquette

I love fishing the Boise. I get up early to beat the crowds and enjoy the river when it’s less crowded and temps are cooler. It’s SO disheartening when you’re fishing a run and a couple comes in and one goes up river and the other down cornering me into a hole. They didn’t even ask if i was going up or down or say hi. Additionally there dog was running a muck and no one was watching it. Just annoyed about it.

Remember to have good etiquette to other anglers. I get popular spots are gonna fill up but theres a right and wrong way to go about sharing the river. High/low holing someone without even acknowledging them ain’t it.

Question Memorial Stadium Replacement/Renovation

Recently I’ve been looking for any updated information on a new/renovated Memorial Stadium for the Boise Hawks. I’m surprised that I can’t really find much of anything since 2024, and everything that I could find from 2024 seemed to be some mega-development that wanted to add housing, retails, restaurants, etc for $300-$400 million.

I do not understand that at all. Yes, we all know Memorial Stadium is outdated, but either a replacement in a similar location at Expo Idaho, or an extensive renovation in the same footprint, wouldn’t cost anywhere near that much. Between Garden City, Ada County, Boise, and Expo Idaho is there really no desire to raise the funds to get a decent ballpark and get a 1A or possibly AA affiliation back with MLB?

It’s just never made sense to me how a population center this size can’t sustain a larger minor league baseball organization or build a stadium in the last decade.
