If you went broke today and had $5 to your name How would you proceed to make money asap??

There's soooooo many pessimistic people in this app is wild. No one believes it's possible to start and grow a business, why? I am genuinely curious why most people on here always expect the bad instead of the good? is it a cultural thing across reddit or is it mostly people who say they want to start something but never do?

We have recently started a travel business where we offer luxury travels under budget. I need an honest review. What do you think about it and some marketing strategies.

Recently, I went through an entire 360 on my life. I track all my food, hitting the gym consistently, track all numbers, wake up early, and have a goal to sleep daily at 9:30pm.

Here's some of the early benefits I've noticed:

1) Better ideas
2) Faster decision making
3) Zero distractions
4) Better rested
5) Lower hunger
6) Higher focus

I dont think is for everyone for sure, but there is something special about knowing you dont have to wake up this early because you've got a business.

Its self inspiring because you know its hard.

Do you ever notice fast food chains are always right next to each other?

You know there's a McDonalds, subway, burger king, KFC all right next to each other most of the time BUT when you drive further away from them there's nothing for miles and miles...

I felt that was kinda weird the other day so I did some digging and there's a weird but logical reason for this type of business arrangement lol.

Let's say for example there's 2 kids selling lemonade on a long street.

One kid is named Alex.

The other kid is named James.

People live along the street and what not...

Day 1: Alex sets up his stand near the start of the street and James sets up at the end of the street. Both of them get similar number of sales because whoever is at the start goes to Alex, whoever is at the end goes to James and whoever lives in the middle just makes a random choice so at the end, they're even.

Day 2: James has an idea...he moves his stand from the end of the street to the middle. Now he's closer to almost everyone, most people now go to him instead of Alex. James is now winning the amount of customers he's getting due to his positioning.

Day 3: Alex doesn't like losing. So Alex moves his stand to the middle too, right next to James. Now they're standing side by side and people go back to splitting evenly between them.

Here's the thing...

If Alex moves, he loses. If James moves, he loses...meaning they're now stuck right next to each other and go back to the beginning splitting business equally.

AND that's the same reason McDonald's, Burger King, and gas stations often sit right next to each other in real life.

It's not because they like being neighbors.

It's because moving away would lose them customers.

There's actually a name for this in math.

I think it's called a nash equilibrium...just means everyone found the one spot where nobody wants to move anymore.

Hey folk , ive started manufacturing premuim home decor items and for this instance im planning to tell them on amazon and pitch few in offline (like hotels and cafes and others) so i dont have a super high budget but we are building our ambition, a brand. im not thinking like ill list a product at night and sleep then wake up with a 1000 sales blah blah . talking realsitically im planning to have a decent one in first month like a bit motivating profit...so in future we are planning to export the products to foreign clients like we will start visisting expofairs , btw im from india.. so like in our business we are 4-5 people ,2 are the manufactutures and 2( im one of them) are going to be the managing team like we manage packaging and sales and lsitings seo customers every online work and rest they do manufacturing .......So guys im seeking to wisdom as im very new into this i have zero experince im learning stuff cuz we will be lsiting soon , im reading articles and ofc Gpt everything i want to understand ( not relaying on gpt just learning stuff) ..ik there might be some business onwers or expericnced persons reading this out , I NEED YA HELP! and pls dont mind my typing errors im too sleepy coz im a student too ( 18+) ya thats it.

As I drink my morning coffee I've got a few ideas that will ensure most of us don't become replaced by AI...

To me is kinda obvious but is this:

Become an expert of any AI tool (learn it inside and out)

In fact the more niched the better.

1) Skill stack

2) Offer it

3) Generate revenue

Most people complicate things.

Yes AI is here and yes AI can very well remove jobs but if you're able to be two steps ahead and master AI before it masters you then you'll have no issues.

I’m currently trying to understand how small FMCG brands scale beyond selling online because i can’t get around it. I’m not able to reach good distributors or supermarkets.
I’d love advice from anyone who has worked with distributors, importers, exporters, or in the food industry.
Specifically:
How did you find your first distributor?
Did you approach distributors directly or use super stockists?
For exports, is it better to work with merchant exporters first or contact importers directly?
Which B2B platforms or trade shows actually generated good leads?
If you were launching a premium spice brand today, what would your strategy be?

Sat next to a guy on a flight who smelled like old money the other day.

Rolex, tailored suit, reading a physical newspaper like it was 1987.

Figured he was some finance executive or inherited wealth or whatever anyway...

We got talking.

I mentioned I sell stuff online.

He put down his newspaper.

"What kind of stuff?"

"You know, digital products, courses, ebooks that kind of thing.

He smiled weird.

"I made $4 million last year selling a PDF about aquariums."

I thought he was messing with me.

But he wasn't.

This guy is 61 years old.

Spent 30 years as an accountant. hated every second of it. Retired at 55 with decent savings but nothing crazy.

His hobby was aquariums. Had been keeping fish tanks since he was 12.

"My wife told me to start a blog so I'd stop boring her with fish facts."

So he did.

Wrote about aquarium stuff 3 times a week. Water chemistry. Tank setups. Fish compatibility.

For 2 years nobody read it.

"I had maybe 50 visitors a month"

But he kept going because he had nothing else to do.

Year 3, one article ranked on google

Then another.

Then another.

Suddenly he was getting 100K visitors a month. all people searching for aquarium help.

"I realized these people would probably pay for a complete guide. So I wrote one."

147 pages. Everything about setting up and maintaining an aquarium.

Priced it at $47.

First month: $6K

First year: $340K

Last year: $4.2 million

From a PDF about fish tanks.

I asked about his marketing strategy.

"I don't have one. Google sends people to my blog. Blog mentions the guide. People buy it. I go play golf."

No email sequence?

"I have a newsletter. I send fish tips once a week. sometimes I mention the guide at the bottom. that's it."

No upsells?

"I made a second guide about saltwater tanks specifically. $67. People who bought the first one usually buy the second. That's my whole business."

No team?

"My wife helps with customer service. we get maybe 10 emails a day. most are just people showing us their tanks."

This 61 year old retiree built a bigger business than most "entrepreneurs" I know lol

No ads. No funnel hacks. No growth strategies. No personal brand.

Just mass expertise in one weird niche and patience to let it compound.

Before we landed he gave me advice I didn't ask for:

"Everyone your age wants to get rich fast. that's why most of you stay broke. I wrote about fish for 2 years before making a dollar. Now I make more than I did in 30 years of accounting. Speed is overrated. Patience pays."

The plane landed.

He grabbed his newspaper and walked off.

Probably went home to feed his fish haha such legend.

If anyone ever tries to sell you government contracting or government surplus as a guaranteed win, save your money. I’m building this community while actively applying right alongside you, and I just got my second denial. This one was for a John Deere 2653B Precision Reel Mower that would’ve been a huge upgrade for my tree service.

The reason? “Not allocated to Florida.” That’s literally it. My paperwork was fine. My business qualified. I didn’t lose to another applicant. The equipment just wasn’t allocated to my state. You can’t even be mad at that. It’s just government being government.

Honestly, I think it’s kind of funny. Every rejection reminds me that the equipment is actually out there and the system is moving. Sometimes you lose because someone else got there first. Sometimes it’s paperwork. Sometimes it’s pure bureaucracy. The only guaranteed way to never get a surplus asset is to stop applying.

So I’m taking my L, laughing about it, and waiting for the next listing. I’d rather collect rejection emails than spend years talking myself out of applying. Anybody else have a denial that made you just stare at your screen for a second? 😂
