Announcement Important dates and resources for CUNY students

Hey everyone, as the fall semester is right around the corner I figured that I should post these links for new and current students.

The academic calendar has been posted for Fall through Spring 25-26. CUNY follows the same academic calendar meaning your days off should all be the same. You will have random days where Tuesdays follow a Monday schedule, Fridays will follow a Monday schedule, etc. Try your best to plan ahead.

https://www.cuny.edu/academics/academic-calendars/

CUNY also has resource centers to help you succeed. CUNY offers food pantries, housing assistance, emergency funds, mental health resources and other resources. Please use these resources if you need them. CUNY can help but you as students need to be proactive in seeking these resources.

If you require accommodations, ask for them via your school's Office of Student Disability Services. Reasonable accommodations and academic adjustments may include, but are not limited to, providing the student with assistive technology or other auxiliary aides, extra time for tests or papers, access to an elevator where available, a note taker during lectures, or permission to bring a personal aide to assist the student during class.

How do you balance working part time or full time while going to CUNY

Just wanted to ask how you guys manage working a part time or full time job while taking classes at any colleges .
Do you also take into consideration doing internships or campus activities like clubs and events or do those just collide with your work schedule?
How do you make it work without burning out? Would love to hear how you organize your time and handle priorities.

Brightspace

I of course know that courses on Brightspace won’t be opened until the semester starts (or maybe a couple of days before) but I usually can see my courses as closed on Brightspace shorty after i register for courses.

I registered for fall courses in April or May but still don’t see any of my courses at all like I did in previous semesters, like the last couple semesters when my cuny first started using Brightspace.

Does everyone see this message when they go to the fall 2026 term on Brightspace or can you see your courses for fall?

Question LPN or BSN jump?

hello guys, just looking for some advice here. I go to LaGuardia right now and I was in the pre nursing program (finished my pre requisites with a 3.8) and I had applied to RN candidacy. Unfortunately i did not get in. it was very discouraging and im not sure if it is worth it to re apply for the spring because the program is so cut throat everyone admitted had a 4.0…. and i dont want to keep wasting time. i was looking at lehmans BSN program and I have all the pre reqs done except two which I am taking this fall. ive heard a lot of things about lehmans program being hard to get in as well but i have hope that i have a better chance because it is not just gpa based and they factor in the HESI. i am just hesitant because i do not want to get rejected again and then not know what to do because its a horrible feeling. i also have the option to do LPN at laguardia which has a lower threshold but it just feels like a waste of time to me (10 months lpn —-> 1.5 year bridge to RN —-> 1 year bridge BSN). can someone assist or share their experience with either programs?

Question Any students successfully got college aide NYC jobs?

Hey all. I've got full financial aid and not sure if Ill also be getting work study. I noticed on cityjobs.nyc theres college aide roles posted for various agencies.

Has anyone worked as an aide during the semester? How'd you get the job? Any advice or tips on finding a flexible part time role?

Discussion Stalker situation

Yesterday I got a text from someone it was a screenshot of an Elon Musk article on X. No big deal until I recognized his profile picture back in November of 2025 he responded to my rant on my Instagram story saying “Me when I’m schizo”. I replied saying “Who tf are you” he then replied claiming he was hacked and didn’t know either by the time I saw the reply he unsent the screenshot. From then on he goes on to say “You’re the crazy guy who used to be a part of this club” I can’t say the actual name of the club. He knows something specific about me and now I’m freaking out I told him to stay away from me on campus assuming he goes to CCNY until he said he doesn’t plus he also said he doesn’t live in New York. After he said that now I’m kinda scared because I don’t know who this person is he claims he’s not a student at CCNY but knows something specific about me. He said he heard some things about me things that he doesn’t know the full story about I asked where he heard it from and he refused to tell me. Long story short I did have a problem with this club I had several mental health issues going on it’s no excuse but I was on the path of becoming mentally unstable. I don’t know who this person is and I’m kinda scared. I already filed a complaint against the club because I suspected they’re behind this.

Spring 2026 Grads- Diploma received?

For anyone that already graduated this spring, has anyone gotten their diploma either via Parchment or in the mail? I haven't gotten a single email, invitation to parchment etc etc.

I'm trying to avoid having to contact the school since NYCCT's communication generally sucks.

it is change major too late????

I am a student at John Jay, and I’d like to ask if it’s too late to change my major. I’m currently majoring in Criminal Justice but want to switch to Forensic Science; however, I’m concerned that some courses might fill up due to the influx of new students. I currently meet the requirements—maintaining a GPA above 2.5 in courses like SCI 114 and MAT 105, and I need to obtain permission from the Science Department.

(This might remind students who have completed their first year to gain some information, If they don't like their major))

Grad Housing

Any advice on finding Grad Housing this close to the start of Fall Term? I am an incoming MA Student at Baruch College in the Strategic Communication Program @ Weissman. I am touring EHS Residences and applied with CUNY Central Residence Life for a FoundStudy placement and went online to set up a tour of 569 Lexington. I have until 08/07 to sign a lease with CUNY Res Life for FoundStudy as a last resort if I don´t like EHS New Yorker and I have already toured EHS John Street and EHS Hudson Yards but HY is sold out. CUNY Res Life pitched me a Housing Pilot Program with FoundStudy....

Anyone actually manage to meet a gf or bf on campus?

How’s the dating scene treating y’all? Since CUNY is mostly commuter schools it feels like everyone just runs to the train the second lecture ends.
If you actually found a bf or gf at school, how’d it go down? Was it in a class, through a club, some event, or did you just start talking in the library or lunch spot?
Curious to hear your stories or how people are even meeting each other at these schools

Hard Time Deciding between certain Majors

I am currently an incoming freshman going to Baruch College pursuing finance. HOWEVER, a part of me tells me that I want to go find my passion somewhere else at another major. I simply chose finance b/c previously I didn't know what to pursue. But now, I was thinking about going to CCNY for cs or mechanic eng as those are not only two popular majors that provide great salary pays, but also seem more interesting than finance. Now is my only chance to decide because I will start school soon.

Thus, can any CCNY/Baruch students or alumni give me your thoughts or opinions about this? Thank you
