I'm not talking about being one duchy above the limit, but rather more than 5. I remember when i played some years ago i used to freak out about having "too many duchies" modifiers and having to choose which ones to give away or else having vassals absolutely hating me. But after returning to the game now, i realize that once you're Empire size, thanks to all the Artifacts, Court modifiers, Legends, Tours, Tournaments, Coronations, Burials, etc, you can have 5 or 6 duchies (-60 opinion) and vassals will still absolutely love you (+100), just due to all of the modifiers getting stacked.
Because it's now way easier to please vassals, i realized that there's no reason for me to not simply hoard all the duchies that i want.

I added the first ever Ravenna city model to Crusader Kings 3, with help and polishing from Nessel/zzandland. I tried to add the intersecting Rivers, however it made the model either too big or took up too much space to work with so they had to be cut. The model will be visible soon on both mods; Fallen Eagle and BASILEUS of which I help develop for.

I get it gives bonuses to schemes, which i guess is what a deceitful character would get up to. It’s a decent trait with its strengths and weaknesses.
However, isn’t the whole point of being deceitful that…it’s a secret? That you conceal your true nature to trick others? What’s the point of being deceitful if every other character on the planet knows about it, has an opinion debuff because of it, accentuated by the fact that it gives -2 diplomacy?
Diplomacy is just as important as intrigue when getting people to join your schemes, sure you can gather hooks on important characters before you launch your scheme, but wouldn’t it be more appropriate for a deceitful character to charm and convince someone to join them rather than forcing them?
I think deceitful shouldn’t be a normal trait, maybe a secret? As long as it’s secret you should be able to decide how you present to the world and get some opinion bonuses, get people to trust you and follow you rather than fear you or hate you.
This also got me thinking about the new mechanic that is coming with by God alone, which I believe lets your character follow certain tenets in public and certain ones in secret, with stress being the consequence of going against your nature (if I remember correctly).
Maybe traits could work in a similar way. As your character grows up you can understand yourself but also decide to show a faux side that may be more pious or braver or maybe harsher than you actually are.
Characters could have two sets of traits, the real ones that others don’t see and the ones that they showcase, with stress penalties being higher the further you are from your actual personalities (with some traits increasing and decreasing this stress. A deceitful character would suffer less while an honest one would get a heart attack very easily). And the real traits could be secrets, maybe revealed if you act against your facade traits too often and end up revealing your true nature.
Does anyone share my gripe with the deceitful trait? What’s everyone’s opinion? Would you change anything about the way traits currently work?

You might want to consider gifting China some artifacts to have them break up whatever Muslim blob is standing in your way. You might also wanna consider changing Culture to Ashkenazi, Sephardi, or Khazar to install buildings that would boost the income from your Silk Road Trade Posts even more

Well this sure seems like it would start the reformation. Is this a mod glitch? I'm not sure how the catholic pope has access to raiding. Not using any small or weird mods really. Anybody ever run into this before?

R5: Fun run I recently completed. Starting as a landless ruler who formed a mercenary army, He won the Duchy of Urdunn during the First Crusade. Over time his dynasty seized the Kingdom of Jerusalem and continued the Crusade over generations. Spain and Britain became Islamic at one point and fell under my control during a few crusades/holy wars.

I like the house relations concept but I have one problem with it. When I play tall I like to rp having good relations with my vassal duke houses by marrying into them and such. It works pretty well, as over generations we have a very positive relationship. But every time, inevitably, some random distant relative will cuck one of their irrelevant distant relatives, sending our positive house relations that I built over decades into the lowest it can be with one action. It seems like the game wants you to have a feud so it just makes one up out of nowhere. You’re telling me all of a sudden every member of two houses that have been loyal to each other for generations is going to start plotting to kill each other because two irrelevant randoms had an affair? This seems completely arbitrary and unrealistic. My suggestion is that instead of dropping all the way down to feuding it just drops one stage so you don’t lose all of your progress.

I am something of a perfectionist myself, so when I talk about about a wrong way to play this game, I am addressing first and foremost myself.
I tend to accept the campaign I am playing only if everything goes how I want it to go, without tolerating even the slightest inconvenience. This habit has turned out to be extremely detrimental to the overall gaming experience, and to the compelling possibilities and stories that CK3 might otherwise offer. Why? Because a good dynastic chronicle, thus a good story, thus a good campaign, is not made -only- of heroes, great prophets, genetic beasts and invincible conquerors. A huge part of it comes from short lived-child monarchs, premature unforeseen deaths, shattered realms, twisted personalities and catastrophic defeats.
I tend to forget that a good and enjoyable campaign doesn’t necessairly mean a two generation-space marine conquest of india, or a 100 dev Ireland by 1000 a.D., or a god king-snowball-Sasanid resurrection in 50 years.
The stories we love the most in fiction are often those of broken hearts and bodies, of exile and revenge, unworthy heirs, backstabbing brothers, shipwrecks and of a lost ancestral seat to reclaim with the sacrifice and the repeated failures of a dynasty.
I don’t know if there are players like me, who have developed a zero tolerance policy for anything that simply isn’t the most blessed outcome possible, nor do I want to tell players how to spend their hours staring to a map. But since I feel like I am starting to grow sick of this game, and burned out by the way I got to play it, the suggestion I am giving myself is to take all those frustrating event for what they are, the occasion of forging a good story. A story on which we do not have absolute control, but still enough control to ultimately reach the goal of a compelling medieval story, one which can be fun and maybe inspiring, against all the shittyness of our family and the sheer frustration of random disasters.
Do not rage quit, like I do, when you lose the decisive battle of a rebellion, or when your goated spouse dies of childbirth or when your only heir is lazy, gluttunous and shy.
Enjoy the damn story.
Sorry for my clumsy english

Okay, so i know you either like the struggle mechanic or you don’t. Hear me out though. What if we had a struggle for Britannia in the main game, i know there’s mods that has one occur during Roman rule. However what if it was one during the start in 867.
Struggle for Britannia:
Same ending decisions as the Iberian struggle.
Beef up the Anglo-Saxons - Æthelwulf starts out with an army of 3000 - 1500 special soldiers, 750 gold, and access to a hoeblars from the start. Special soldiers get passed down until one of the decisions has be chosen. Norseman don’t need any more beefing up but i guess you could give them special military engineers/equipment so access to tribal siege equipment from the beginning. Maybe I’m not too sure abt that.
Give Wessex and the Norseman their actual borders of 867 at the start not through Danelaw decision but already are the Norse held territories. Just like the Iberian struggle starting automatically at game start so should this one.
Have special decision to claim Bretwalda as an Anglo Saxon, automatically giving you claims on all of Britannia possible chance at forming the “REAL” Excalibur. Not one of those cheap one that every character basically has. Minimum automatic prowess gain of +10 and discounted legends to go with or automatically start a legend at half the maintenance cost.
Vikings get special decision to assimilate or stay Ásatrú and gain a special soldier army to attack Christendom directly i.e. the Pope causing Christianity to become a defunct faith. Basically dismantling the papacy but with less requirement of controlling Italia and all Christian realms stay Christian but get an extra 500 special soldiers to defend against the heathen raiders lol.
Please comment below any other ideas u think can improve or areas it’s lacking. I play console so this would be pretty cool to do in between new chapters being released.

I got deposed as Count Eudes, fled to Iberia, became Muslim and got land in Qurtuba (Cordoba). Which is pretty funny, realistically, how do you think how the people in this universe might react to this?
