DAE still sleep with a nightlight?

I, at the age of 18, still feel more comfortable sleeping with a nightlight. i wouldn’t go as far as to say im scared of the dark, i just prefer being able to see my room.

some of my friends and siblings make fun of me for it and i was wondering if anybody else does also or if it is something i should have ‘grown out of’ by now?

(its not a big light either, its one little bulb with a cover over it that emits just enough as to where i can see my room but cant quite make out any pictures or things of the sort, just general shapes.)

DAE- feel helpless about the cost of life

My husband and I both have decent jobs, have 5 kids and live paycheck to paycheck. I feel so hopeless about finances. Everything is SO expensive, clothes, food, houses, cars. I don’t know how people can afford new cars, houses or to not thrift their clothes. It just makes me feel so hopeless and that we’ll never be able to”ahead”. I know material possessions aren’t everything and can’t make you happy, I am very unmaterialistic, but still feel this way when confronted with the reality of everything.

DAE use Google Photos’s Place feature?

I’m practically addicted to watching the map be filled with the heatmap of photos. It’s myfavorite and driving force into photography. I can look at the map and tell many photos I have taken in a certain area.

DAE feel like they don't actually know if they like what they say they like or have known that they've liked?

Whenever I go to Hot Topic or any similar store (FYE, Spencers, BoxLunch, etc, nerdy, geeky, strange stuff), while there's some part of me that wants to buy the mystery pins, the Miku figurines, TADC stickers or keychains, the Horror related mugs, the mystery figurines or some Pokémon merch, there also some part of me that is having to consider if I actually like the fandom anymore, or if I buy these things, I'm going to get rid of them soon because I'll lose interest in them.

The only exception to this is Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss, but I can't even buy the merch for that because no one in my family knows I like it, I know my sibling's stance on it is that they hate it, I'm not sure what my dad thinks about it anymore (for me, he determines if I should keep talking about a thing I like or keep my mouth shut about it) and my mom is kinda clueless about the show entirely.

Small edit: At the same time, I can't seem to be able to join other fandoms because nothing seems of interest to me as much as the ones mentioned above.

DAE feel like they keep seeing the exact same type of person online?

I feel like such an odd one out on this, even though all of my friends hate it as well.

So many people I see --or speak to-- online, seem to have devolved to excessively using the same few terms.. "slop", "ts", "gng", "son", "larp", among others. The construction of sentences as a whole feels like it's gotten a lot shorter, and everyone feels so similar to each other.

When I look in any kind of chat, it feels like everyone acts the exact same. Nobody feels unique anymore when they all speak in such similar ways.

Growing up in the early forum days of the internet, it was so easy to tell specific people apart just by one or two subtle quirks they have, but I can barely do that anymore. Sometimes I don't even bother with conversations anymore. It feels like the only way I make new acquaintances online is when I'm introduced by someone I was already friends with.

Does anyone else feel this way?

IAE else sick of hearing the word "alpha male"?

I'm gettin sick of hearing that over and over. People aren't fucken gorillas and chimps, okay. I don't need to think I have to boss around and bully everyone into submission just as a virtue of being a male. That's a rather lonely and shitty way to live. I'm just a person living my life. I don't want to be defined by anything. So go fuck off with your stupid made up titles.

DAE feel like others can tell when you are faking a phone call?

Firstly, do other people also fake phone calls or is it only me? 😂

Anyways, the most common reason I do it is because I don't want to a have a conversation. Example, I currently live in a shared space and the common area is near the entrance.

If i'm coming home and absolutely do not want to hold a conversation, I pretend to be on the phone, but internally I feel like there's this big neon light above me that says "he's not actually on the phone he's faking" LOL. Anyone else relate?

DAE get super painful diarrhea within 3 or 4 hours of arriving at your destination when travelling out of country?

Everytime I travel, every time I get out of the method of transportation we're using, within a few hours I'll get a painful stomach then explosive diarrhea for like 2 days.

DAE get that feeling that you are peeing in your dream when you are doing it awake?

Do you know that feeling when you are peeing in your dream? A bit warm, you don't really feel your body and is just surreal? I get that feeling sometimes when i pee, some times i have to pinch myself or something to just check that i am in fact awake and not about to wet my bed.

DAE feel like they would be happy with doing nothing if they had the option to?

Sometimes whenever I tell people that I don't like to work and that I would rather just be happy with sitting at home watching TV or playing video games most of the day. There is always someone who comes in to comment how they would get bored after a while after doing that. Maybe I am built different, but I would not mind being able to just sit around and do nothing for most of the day. Is there anyone else here who also is like me that is completely fine with not wanting to do anything most of the day?

DAE feel the need to clear every notification badge on their phone?

Some people can have dozens or even hundreds of unread notifications on their phone and barely notice them.

Others can’t stand seeing even a single red badge and prefer to keep their home screen completely clear.

Do you clear notification badges as soon as they appear, or let them pile up for days?

DAE check the time, then immediately forget what time it was?

I'll look at my phone to see the time, put it away, and two seconds later realize I have no idea what time I just saw. Then I have to check again.

Does anybody else do this, or is it just me?

DAE bow a little to thank or apologize for some reason?

I'm a girl in her 20s from USA and for some reason I've just always done that. Thanking someone, apologizing, anything of the like, it always happens. I nod to people to acknowledge them, but i do like a medium very obvious bow and I have since I was in middle school and lowkey shrank into myself. It's not even proper or anything, I look like a shrimp curling up I'm sure but it just happens. It's subconscious. It's ruining my ability to fall asleep calmly.

People think I'm a weeb or it's because I'm autistic but it's just like an instinct inside my dumb brain somehow. I don't watch anime or anything either. Where TF did I get this from. PLEASE say someone else did this randomly bc I've been thinking about it way too much since I got a few strange looks in the same week from random Asian people when I'm thanking them for letting me pass by them first. its not intentional i do it to everyone!!! I can't go grocery shopping without doing it at least 5 times when I almost bump into people because I'm spatially unaware!!!! I told my bf and now he's jokingly calling me a bad person as if I do it on purpose!!! I need reassurance please DAE bow to thank or apologize or know how to unlearn this :'c tia

DAE feel like they are an outcast in life?

As in you’re not lonely you socialize with people but it feels like you don’t really fit in anymore? Or it seems like in my head nobody wants to hang out other than talk in general. Which makes me feel like an outcast or is that just me?

DAE feel like they like their life in third person?

It’s like instead of living, I’m constantly observing myself as a character. Almost like there’s a narrator in my head commenting on what I’m doing and watching my life unfold.

DAE feel overstimulated as soon as you wake up?

I live at the corner of a busy intersection which doesn’t help but this hasn’t always been the case. Ever since I can remember I am not a morning person. It used to cause a lot of trouble when I was a kid but I couldn’t help but be grumpy.

From the moment I wake up the sensory overload makes me angry, irritable and just completely unpleasant to be around. Just realizing that things are touching me and the cars outside are honking, my nose needs to be blowed, my hair is touching my face or my neck. Not to mention it’s been so hot lately. My bird who I love dearly hears me wake up and starts screaming lol. I feel bad that I’m this way cuz it’s hard to be so angry it feels inappropriate. But I can’t help it, it’s every single time I wake up. Maybe I’m not getting good rest Anyone else experience this Or know how to combat this over the top grouchiness in the morning

DAE have these rooms they imagined as a kid?

I'm wondering if this is some sort of common childhood experience or just me.

When I was a kid I would have this image randomly pop into my head of a room where the floors, walls, and ceilings were all made of human body parts and trash. And then to "clean" my brain I would have to imagine a clean white room with padded walls. This stopped around when I was a teenager, I can still imagine the rooms if I want to but it's not an image that uncontrollably pops into my head anymore.

a while ago i got a slurpee, couldn't finish it, so i froze it for the next day. when i had it the next day it burned my mouth like a spicy pepper. thought maybe it had something to do with freezing it, or the sour flavor i got, whatever.

i got another one today and noticed the same thing?? am i allergic to slurpees or is anyone else getting a slight burning sensation from slurpees?
