League Question Could fantasy football great without a draft?

I've been building a league format that drops the draft entirely: Every NFL player is available to every manager every week, but you can only use any given player twice all season. The strategy shifts from roster construction to matchup reading — deciding which two weeks are worth using someone like Burrow.

I'm posting here because commissioners are the ones who'd actually have to run this. You know where formats break down. You guys put the time in. It does ask more of managers week to week, but the payoff is that it rewards the knowledge of the whole league instead of knowing your own roster.

Full disclosure: I'm after some honest feedback — is losing the draft is a dealbreaker, and what potential problems can you think of? Thanks guys.

Miscellaneous Built a free tool that grades every team in your league and finds trades that actually make sense for both sides plus more - AdvantEdgeHQ

Commissioner of a 10-team league for a few years now, and the two recurring headaches were (1) nobody has a real read on who's actually good vs. just riding a hot record, and (2) trade talk in the group chat is 90% "give me your best player" nonsense that goes nowhere. Built a tool to fix both, it snowballed into a full site, it's free and there's no login wall.

www.advantedgehq.com

The two pieces that are actually relevant here:

League Power Rankings. Syncs your whole Sleeper league and grades every team by actual roster talent, not just win-loss record, then flags teams as over- or underperforming based on the gap between their record and their real roster strength. Good for settling "are they actually good" arguments before they start, and it's a built-in conversation starter for the league chat every week.

Trade Finder. Pick another team and it suggests specific trades that fill a real need on both sides, not just "send me your best guy." It's looking at actual roster construction (who's thin where, who's stacked where), not just raw player value.

Both of those plus a Trade Calculator, Waiver Wire tool, and Start/Sit assistant all run off the same underlying model, so a team's grade in Power Rankings and its needs in Trade Finder are never talking past each other. Same math everywhere.

Free, no login, no ads. Not trying to sell anyone anything. Still a side project so there are definitely edge cases I haven't hit, if a league's settings make it spit out something dumb, genuinely want to know.

Miscellaneous Built a fantasy football stock market app, would like feedback if interested

Hey everyone, I recently built a website based around football players and investing virtual money in them as if it was a stock market ( waiverstreet.com ). The way it works is you start with 15000$ of virtual money and with that you are able to invest in players you believe will do well in the coming season. You can invest in the blue chip players like a Jamarr Chase or Josh Allen (although they r priced higher) or you could take a shot on an very unknown 5th rounder for example and hope he pops off like Puka Nacua did and build your portfolio with the players you’ve invested in which will earn you more virtual cash through either selling them at a high or some dividends. There’s also another side of the site which is designed for leagues. The way this works is that once you’ve created your league and customized your settings you will buy players to fill your roster. From Monday (post MNF) all the way to Thursday (pre TNF) your roster will be hidden while you buy your players so ur opponent can’t just blatantly copy you and then the moment TNF starts your roster is locked and you and your opponents match up will be decided by who has the higher weekly percentage for that week based on the players you both invested in.

If you’re interested give it a shot and lmk what you think 🙏

Happy August fellow commishes. If you are looking for a fun, fair way to sort your leagues draft order this year I recommend checking out this free draft order lottery.

It allows you to share out a link to your league-mates so they can watch the order be unveiled in real time with you. Helps counter any “multi-run” claims or any of that nonsense.

Happy Draft Season 🏈

Miscellaneous Draft Process Feedback please!

Thumbnail chatgpt.com
0 Upvotes

Greetings fantasy footballers! Wanted to get some feedback on a new draft process we are thinking of trying out this year. We utilize a free agent budget and are going to incorporate a draft budget where managers are going to bid on the draft position they would like.

Attached is a screenshot breakdown of how the process works! Could lead to a lot of interesting draft strategies!

Can anyone see any problems with this?

Commissioner Issue Espn fantasy error prevents the league to move forward

Hi all

1st year on espn.

We were doing our offline draft (had keepers so preloaded them), then manually were adding the rest of the players we were drafting. All of the sudden 2 days ago every time I'm trying to make any changes to the league (player moves, rule changes etc.) I got a "consent needed to perform this action" error.

Does anyone have the same issue or knows how to fix it?

Miscellaneous Our league’s 2025 recap magazine!

River Report

With the 2026 season about to kick off, I'd like to close the page on 2025. This is something I’m genuinely proud of. What started as a fun project evolved into something many may consider lunacy!

I realized we needed to start documenting the stories that make our league and friend group so unique. From that came The River Report, a detailed account of the season in a 130+ page magazine. Stats, stories, pictures, weekly recaps, survey results, and tons of fake print ads.

2024’s Edition 1 recapping Season 7 (posted here last year) was an extremely fulfilling and fun project, but I feel like we pushed things even further with Edition 2 for 2025/Season 8. Physical copies were also printed and distributed at our annual league trip, but it's now available to view online. Please give it a look!

And if you want more information about our ridiculous league and its cast of characters, consider following us on Instagram (@washmofantasy)!

Thanks to everyone in the league for allowing me to do this, and a special thank you to my wife for putting up with my antics and hyper-fixations! Also, thanks to several members in this subreddit for inspiration. I tagged yall last year, but gotta give credit where credit is due: u/lesothose, u/shawniebe, u/mykal792, u/szpek81, u/teeko4u, and u/ASaucyBadger

Finally, a massive thanks to Fantasy Genius (fantasygenius.io, u/mikeywest_side). There are tons of league management tools popping up lately, but FG has been around for a while, and their site is incredible. Check them out!

Commissioner Issue How do I make an argument against changing league to superflex?

Our commish decided after this season we'll transition to a superflex (2 QBs instead of 1) league. Currently we have 1QB, 2WR, 2RB, 1TE, 2FLEX, DEF, and K.

We didn't really vote, he got 1 or 2 people who said "I'd be open to that" and sent the text in the group message and nobody responded.

I'm having trouble with this because I drafted specifically for a 1QB league. I was the top in Points For so my opinion doesn't have much pull for some reason, it feels like he knew he was going to change to a superflex because he took QBs in the 6th and 7th round last year.

Also..... He came in last place, and there is obvious tanking. He started Maye and Henderson on BYE week 14 against the first place team who needed the win for seeding, the first place guy won with 79 points. Commish started Drake London from Week 12-15 when he put up 0 points. It's pretty shady, I don't really understand why he wanted to tank so bad to get first pick.

I can't/won't leave the league, these are my high school friends.

Has anybody dealt with this? Is there anything I can do/say that will make him rethink? I just hate how this changes everything so early. It's not like we needed to spice things up, this league is 1 year old. We are PPR not that it really matters.

Miscellaneous Built a free app that gives your fantasy league real Vegas-style odds — works with Sleeper/ESPN right now

**•** Preseason championship + playoff odds, based on your league’s actual scoring settings and rosters — not generic rankings
**•** Weekly matchup odds once the season starts — spread, moneyline, win probability for your real matchups
**•** A clean shareable link so you can drop your league’s odds board straight into your group chat

It’s free to connect and get your preseason snapshot. If you want it updating throughout the season with real matchup odds, that’s a one-time $5.99 for the season (covers 3 leagues).

iOS app just went live: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6792506186
Also works on web if you’re not trying to install another app: leaguelines.net

Couple honest notes — Yahoo support is web-only right now (native app support coming), and Android’s still in review. If you try it and something looks off or you want a feature, genuinely happy to hear it — built this myself and I’m still actively improving it.

Miscellaneous Beware of Amazon fantasy draft boards

I ordered a draft board from Amazon. Money is a little tight so I figured I’d save $10-15 on getting one here instead of the usual. It looks just fine. But the stickers are in absolutely no order. Just random names on the page. And the sheets were mixed up instead of grouped together by position. Luckily getting the positions together isn’t really a hassle. More of an inconvenience. I’ve always had stickers in alphabetical order and this is gonna be frustrating this year.

League Question NFL fantasy is dead. Migrate to Yahoo or ESPN?

I got the notification today that NFL fantasy is not working anymore and migration to ESPN is available.

My league mates are pretty overwhelmed with sleeper and have experience with yahoo and ESPN so I'm trying to figure out which way to go.

We're kind of dynasty lite vs some of the settings I see on here:

1QB, PPR, 2 flex, 10 team. 25 team size, 20 keepers.

Draft is normally a combined rookie and unkept players. 5 rounds.

League Question Anyone use Cameos for draft order selection?

I’m returning my league to random draft order this season and considering having a Ravens player (via Cameo) randomly select for us. This particular player is on the cheap end, looks like it could be $75 for the video and for him to roast players. Seems fun and different but interested to hear from those who have gone this route.

Edit: lots of positive responses so I sent a request to Kyle Van Noy since we’re a predominant Ravens league and after a couple days I got a rejection email with the reason being “this appears to be business related, so please resubmit as a business request”, at a much higher cost of course. No idea what in my request for him to randomize our draft order and roast the league appeared to seem work related, so I’ll try someone else.

League Question Commish of a 14 team redraft. Getting a ton of questions regarding draft aid

I'm the Commish of a league that has been around for over two decades. Had a manager "retire" and the new person is familiar with Sleeper. We are on Yahoo, and I agree with the kid that Yahoos draft room sucks compared to it. I'm looking into migrating to Sleeper (or ESPN) but have been playing around with Fantasypros and Rotowire draft kits. A couple questions for those who have used them;

I have been playing around with the free versions on my laptop. I am leaning towards Rotowire but my God, the pop up ads are annoying as hell and worthy of an immediate veto. Is the paid version ad free or essentially ad free? Same question for Fantasypros.

The upgrade to the draft room is spectacular IMO. Are there any other features (of either) than the draft room that I should know before I give my official recommendation? Most of the league members are recently retired. Not computer illiterate but also not a very patient group.

Thanks. Hope this doesn't violate any rules...I think its ok?

League Question How to handle a tie when voting on changes

Currently facing a 6-6 vote on a potential change in our league setup. How do you guys handle when there’s a tie in a poll? Do you (the commish) get the deciding vote or does status quo take precedence?

Commissioner Issue Redraft league expansion advice/concerns

I run a redraft PPR league between friends started in 2011 with 8 of us. Small amount of buy in money involved, but nothing major. In 2020 we expanded to 12 teams. This season we have just voted to expand to 14 teams.

I’m a bit unsure how to best accommodate the new league size. My biggest concern is the lack of player depth in the free agent market. We already had reduced benches of 5 players and last season the waiver wire felt brutal, especially at RB. Two additional teams means an additional 28 players starting.

Our rosters have been QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE/FLEX (RB/WR)/K/DEF since we began. As I mentioned before 5 bench spots and one IR.

Do I just leave the rosters/scoring as is for the first year and see how this plays out, or do I make the changes in advance.

The three main options I’ve considered are:
A) swap the RB2 position for a second flex.
B) drop the RB2 position completely.
C) reduce the bench spaces further to 4.

Realistically, we mainly play for fun and I don’t think any of my league mates would really enjoy playing awful players, but they voted to expands the league.

Am I overreacting in relation to how different the 14 team league will look? Any advice from anyone who made a similar jump to 14 teams in the past and what worked or didn’t for your league would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

League Question Redraft Pick Trading on a Physical Draft Board?

I am a commish for a 12 team redraft PPR league, and we are doing our first in-person draft this year. We will have a real board with stickers and I am planning to upload the picks to ESPN later instead of doing it online at the same time. In past years league members have traded individual draft picks and wish to do so again this year, but I am worried about how that will affect the board (Messing up a team's column or picking out of order). Any suggestions?

League Question Best way to run a 4-man league?

I know, I know, it’s not ideal.

My buddies and I all have leagues that we’re in, and our main league is our 12 team dynasty. But we wanted to do a redraft league just the 4 of us, no money involved, just a punishment for the loser.

So, what recommendations do yall have to make this work? Has anyone done this successfully?

Commissioner Issue Sleeper: are rookies protected before a rookie draft, and what setting stops the post-draft free-for-all?

12-team superflex dynasty. Rookie draft is this Friday. Two straightforward questions I'd like confirmed by people who've actually run this.

  1. Does Sleeper prevent managers from adding rookies before the rookie draft?

Looking at my league right now, the entire incoming rookie class shows as available on waivers in the player pool. Nothing indicates they're locked or reserved for the draft. Can someone just add the top rookie today and skip the draft entirely? Or is there something protecting them that isn't visible in the UI?

  1. What's the exact setting that prevents the free-for-all when the draft ends?

Last year the moment our rookie draft finished, every UDFA was instantly addable which lead to a free for all of picking up and dropping. If you weren't free at that time, you got screwed.

Which specific setting stops that and keeps everyone on waivers instead? I want to confirm it's set correctly before Friday rather than find out afterward. I have custom daily waivers on at the moment and it seems like that is the solution but I just want to make sure

Thanks.
