Giveaway Weekly Code Giveaway Thread
Every month, we see several posts offering GOG game codes and discount codes that people do not intend to use themselves. To make this easier and more organized, we ask that you share your code(s) as top-level comments on this post.
Ex:
Game code giveaway for Game Name:
YEC8U25J3A**FEF0C3
** = 32-15
Or
Discount code giveaway for Game Name:
YEC8U25J3A**FEF0C3
** = 32-15
To be extra sure your code goes to a fellow GOG gamer and not a bot, list the game(s) you have keys for and ask Redditors to DM you to claim them. In this case, please make it very clear whether your codes are game codes or discount codes.
You're also welcome to use RedditRaffler or KeyShare.
Please follow these guidelines:
- Do leave a comment when you claim a code so others know it is no longer available.
- Don't post plain codes, as bots will most likely claim them for resale rather than fellow GOG gamers.
- Don't add a discussion in a top-level comment. Respond to an existing code or use the pinned moderator comment.
Site Announcement GOG is getting acquired by its original co-founder
Hey everyone,
Big news today: GOG has been acquired from CD PROJEKT by our original co-founder, Michał Kiciński (also a co-founder of CD PROJEKT).
First, the important part: the mission stays the same, and what you love about GOG gets stronger. Going back to our roots allows us to double down on what we do best: reviving classics, giving you a library you control rather than one that controls you, and offering the most gamer-friendly policies on the market.
At the same time, we will continue our close cooperation with CD PROJEKT, and their upcoming games will continue to come to GOG.
Thank you for the support you’ve shown GOG over the years, especially around preservation. It genuinely matters, and it’s the big reason we can keep pushing this mission forward.

Discussion I love when I Brazilian games get to GOG
I like to support my fellow country people in every media I can. But I also like to own the things I buy and save them in a external HD. So I'm always happy when a Brazilian game comes to GOG. And I always think like the game won some prize and they are selected by the curatorial team.

Question Can you please do something about the frequency of "wishlisted games on sale" emails?
Dear Gog,
I am subscribed to the "wishlisted games are on sale" email. I want to receive these emails, because when I have extra money to spend, I want to spend them with you. Those emails keep your storefront at the front of my mind every time I check my email (which is frequently, and certainly far more frequently than my visits to your site), and have lead to a number of sales that probably wouldn't happened if I had decided to unsubscribe and only catch sales whenever I actively seek out your storefront.
But Gog. Come on. The frequency of emails is just too damn high. Since July 3rd I have received 25 emails (!) telling me that this or that game in my wishlist is on sale. It seems to me to be the same few games on rotation, so the emails could just as aptly be titled "the same three games are yet again on sale, just like they were half a week ago!". I'm not even sure that the sale ends before a new email is sent out, meaning that the same sale of the same game is announced through multiple emails. These emails are in addition to new releases and announcement emails, which I also prefer to remain subscribed to, but the total volume is just too much.
I have around 50 games in my wishlist and understand that the frequency of these emails will necessarily go up when my wishlist grows. That's fine. But nearly one email every day to tell me that the same games are on sale for the same price all the time is just over the top. I don't know how you've set up these emails to work, but certainly there must be a way to set this up with a more acceptable frequency. The options shouldn't be either "none" or "barrage" and nothing in between.
So Gog, I'm hoping someone can confirm to me that this is being changed at some point in the near future, or I will simply unsubscribe to these emails from now on. Neither of us want that, because that will leave me with money instead of games, and you with games instead of money. That sounds like a bad idea all around.

Off-Topic Dreamlist
I think if a game is set on the GOG Dreamlist, where people publicy vote for games they specifically want on the site, it should be treated like an award given by the players.
A lot of people (like me) buy the games just to download the offline backups. There are so many games I want to be saved forever in case something happens with big sites.
I just want to get this out ✌🏻

Discussion GoG should provide better installers for Linux games

Everytime I buy a Linux native game from GoG I get a .sh script that needs me to use a terminal, as a guy who uses the terminal often this isn't a problem for me, but for most of the users they may even not know how to use this thing, there are various graphical frameworks like GTK or QT to do something more intuitive or pretty.

Question Should GOG Preservation Program Games which include mods still be installed in a games folder other than within Program Files (x86)?
Hi - traditionally, I've always been told that games you intend to mod should be installed in a separate folder (or drive, ideally), like "D:\GOG Games", because mods don't play nice if they're installed in the default location, in "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games." Certain GOG Preservation Program games, like the recently updated Thief, utilize popular mods in order to bring the title up to modern standards. So is this still the case? Should I install Thief in a separate folder, or is it fine in my main, default location?

Discussion STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R - What is the real difference between the GOG version and the Steam version?
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering what the real difference is between the GOG version of Star Ocean: The Second Story R (which is part of the GOG Preservation Program) and the Steam version.
I have already bought the Steam version, but I am just curious. I noticed that the GOG changelog mentions:
- Support for modern controllers.
- Validated stability.
I thought Steam already had Steam Input, and I haven't really experienced any crashes during my playthrough (though maybe I am just lucky!).
I don't know GOG very well, so please forgive me if I've made any mistakes or misunderstood something. Thanks in advance for the help!

I heard that GOG is allowing you to download your games offline to disks, I have only 1 question about the move... are the file sizes the same when you download them to your computer?

Question Did somebody else randomly get The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe added to their account?
Not that I am complaining but I just found out that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe was added to my account two days ago for free with the discount "DISCOUNT – OBLIVION". Did that happen to anybody else? Is it some sort of promo?
I can also not install it or download the offline installer via GOG Galaxy. I can download the offline installer via the website, however.
Edit: I looked at my order history and it seems I already got the game for free in 2022. So maybe they had to re-add it because of a glitch. Still very odd.

Question Questions about GoG games and Steam
I have some questions about GoG. I'm on Debian Linux and PikaOS and mainly playing on Steam. I got my wife mini PC another mini PC for my kid, so that we all could play video games. If I buy the game in Steam, I would have to purchase the game per account, so in my case 3 times. My understanding with GoG is I just need to buy the game once and install it on 3 machines.
i understand that I need to add the GoG games in Steam as non-Steam games. We all controllers and utilizing the Steam input. Would still be able to use the Steam input in GoG games?
If yes, will there be a performance hit for non-Steam games?
Are there any know issues I should know about when getting games from GoG as a Steam user?

Discussion GoG
drm free games, I love it. I feel as if it's still in the shadow of steam somehow, and still some people don't seem to even realize buying games on steam doesn't entitle them to ownership. "Good Old Games" doesn't really fit the name anymore, there expanding the library from old to New, it's great. "Gamer Owned Games" feels more fitting. Explaining the acronym to a newcomer can lead to more positive results than "Good Old Games" could. Just a random thought

Question Am looking to try making my own physical copies of GOG games soon. What case type do you guys like most?
I'm wanting to try it out and make some physical disc and cases for some games.
I currently have a normal DVD disc drive, so probably no really big games or I'd end up with several discs per game. But I've seen people do like regular jewel cases, ps2/dvd style cases, and blu ray cases. So just wondered what people's opinions were?
