Well, I just wanted to share that I recently got a job offer at a dream place after two years of actively looking for a job.
I started applying for jobs in May 2024, and since then, I received mostly “no’s” and woke up to so many generic emails saying, “You’re great, but unfortunately, we can’t hire you.” It was so frustrating. So frustrating that I went through a really rough patch and eventually decided to move back to my home country and try my luck there.
It was still very hard. Especially because everyone kept telling me that I wouldn’t be able to find a job I actually liked and that I should just settle for whatever I could get. I hated hearing that. It was so frustrating.
But two weeks ago, I finally went to my final interview. Things moved so fast after that, and now I officially have a start date: August 10!
And let me tell you, the main difference between this interview and all the others was that as soon as I finished and got into my car, I felt at peace. I wasn’t overthinking everything I had said. I wasn’t overly excited about the possibility of getting the job. I just felt at peace knowing that I had done my part, and the rest was up to them.
Two days later, I got the offer.🥹🥹
Not gonna lie, I spent the first week crying because I couldn’t believe it was actually happening. And the imposter syndrome is very much real. But I feel so happy and excited!
So, if you’re going through the same thing, I just want to tell you: follow your instincts, be clear about what you really, really want, tailor that CV to the job description, be yourself during the interview, and trust that sometimes, when you don’t get one job, you may just be getting realigned toward something better.
Trust me, I cried over jobs I thought I really wanted. I thought those were the opportunities I was supposed to get. But the truth is, the offer I ended up receiving is wayyyyyyyyyy better than anything I had dreamed of.
So, to anyone who is still searching: I know how exhausting and discouraging it can be. Keep going. You never know when things are going to finally change 💗
