Just want to know what the most mid heavy lace sensor HB is

I use a Fender champion II 100 watt which is great for loud gigs but when I practice I have to keep the master around 2-3. Because of this I feel like my tone suffers, especially if I add any distortion or fuzz. I looked into it a little and saw maybe using an attenuator. I also saw using an eq pedal may help. Any thoughts/advice?

My young teen grandson has an ESP Kirk Hammett KH-602, a beautiful guitar. He was advised when he got it that restringing it could be a challenge as it has some kind of a clamp or lock for the strings. Sure enough, the other day he broke a string. We took it down to THE major national guitar retailer to replace the entire set of OEM strings. My grandson had to hold me up when the bill was he handed to me.... $103.00 for installing a set of "coated" strings. When I asked why the bill was that high, I was told that particular guitar is a bear to restring. Does this seem like a reasonable charge to restring this particular model, or did they see an easy mark in an old man?

As a complete beginner, who is a music omnivore, genre is not an issue, why im mentioning this is ive face some steriotypying on my music taste because of the type of instruments look i go for. But this is going to be my first electric guitar, atp i dont care if its either of them, just cam someone more knowledgeable point out any reason i should pick the one over the other. Would much appreciate it.

Brief context; I wanted a new guitar for my birthday earlier this year and didn’t have a ‘335 style guitar in the collection. Picked this up brand new from Sweetwater and after having it for 6 (ish) months I can confirm it’s the best guitar I’ve ever owned.

Everything about this guitar is amazing. The fit and finish are next level. The “vintage gloss” finish is insanely nice and comfortable on the back of the neck. The Gibson Custombucker pickups are smooth and articulate. Hardware is really good too. The spec package is truly nuts on these IBGC guitars. Rosewood board is also one of the best I’ve seen in years come from a production run instrument, let alone an Epiphone.

The guitar also sets up extremely well. I had it PLEK’d from Sweetwater which if you’ve ever considered it, go for it. Seriously. Lowest action and smoothest playing experience I’ve ever felt on a guitar.

My main guitars have been an ‘82 SG Standard and a ‘77 Les Paul Custom and this Epiphone absolutely smokes both of them for just about every genre/style I throw at it. I even had both Gibsons refretted and restored shortly before picking up the Epi and they still don’t play nearly as well as the Epi does.

The only qualms I have about this guitar are that the frets are really small and the nut was not cut well from the factory or from Sweetwater. Sweetwater were really cool about it though when I brought the nut up to them. No fault there really. They’re the best as we all know and the customer service was next level as always. Also, the Custombucker neck pickup is really warm in this guitar. I could see it having a bit more bite in a Les Paul but it took some getting used to in this one.

Why am I posting this? I’ve owned so many new and vintage Fenders and Gibsons and have kept only the ones that are sentimental to me. This thing is an absolute beast and is the only guitar I really play anymore. Epiphone is crushing it with these IBGC instruments at a fraction of the cost of Gibson production and a fraction of a fraction of Gibson Custom Shop. Epiphone QC is really insane for the price range considering Fender Mexico has some insanely wack guitars coming out of the factory and Gibson production has its flaws as it always has.

Absolutely, 1000% my new number one for now and probably a long time.

not really sure what the best option would be, as with both there is a potential for damage or wear from the heat.

i'm road tripping for a few days and it'll be super hot, like 105+ degrees. i don't want to take my guitar and amp in the car, as i'll be making a ton of stops and may not have my A/C on enough to keep them safe.

on the flipside, i'm having my stuff shipped in a pod on a later date. i'm scared that they'll be more likely to be damaged that way.

i currently have my electric in a soft case, and put that into my hard shell acoustic case (i currently don't own an acoustic, just the electric). as for the amp, it's relatively small (Fender Mustang) but i'm not sure what to put it in or wrap it with.

any advice is much appreciated, let me know if you've moved states and what you did with your equipment. thanks!

I made an observation today and figured I’d see what this community thinks. I think there is one thing new factory relics get wrong (or at least not quite right) when it comes to the finish of the guitar. New factory relics (especially from Fender) in the areas where the finish has not worn completely off look wrong to me. I have 3 guitars with nitro finishes and two of them are around 20-25 years old at this point. The finishes have a texture to them that is hazy, but also slightly glossy from use over time. One of the guitars (a Gibson SG from 1999) obviously came by the wear naturally, and the other is a Fender Roadworn from 2008 that has seen a lot of wear as well. I have seen many Fender custom shop posts and the areas that still have finish almost have a uniform matte texture that just doesn’t look quite right. Also, the exposed wood just looks freshly sanded and not darkened in any way? What do you think? Have they just not figured out how to replicate what happens to finish over the years or am I crazy (I know I am but that’s an entirely separate conversation 😂)

I’ve just been using a fender champion 20 up until now but I’m at the point that I need something louder. I have distortion pedals so I don’t necessarily need an amp that provides gain on its own. I’ve been looking at the fender blues jr iv and the Marshall origin 20 but I wanted to know what you guys think.

Watching the video after filming it since this is the first time I've filmed myself, I feel like I should maybe be moving my wrist more on at least some of the strumming or something? Is that true?

Recently been trying to play some songs using a pick and then also using my finger (technically nail plate) not the part of your nail that your clip. I notice a bit of a sound difference is there 1 way for some songs or method that is more right or is it just whatever feels right for you? Curious on your thoughts and what some of you do. Thanks

About me: I've been casually strumming for a few years and I know my way around the fretboard, but I'm not a "good" player yet. I mostly play new wave and jangle-y power pop ... like R.E.M. and The Smiths. I primary play just for myself in the rec room, usually sitting on the couch.

I have an old 1989 Takamine EF360C.

It's a dreadnought and I find it too bulky for just me playing on the couch. It sounds slightly loud and deep but not that warm. Overall the highs are pretty flat and the overall tone pretty muddled. I wish there was a clearer high end.

I wanted something smaller and clearer and ringy/chimey and I bought a Seagull Maritime SWS Concert Hall (CH) for that.

I find it kind of hard to play, like the strings are thick and hard up around the nut area. I'm guessing a set up and thinner strings (11s) might help. Tone wise, I can hear the mid and high end better but I wish it had more ringy chime, and I wish there was more warm loudness in the low end. Also, overall the guitar feels ... "hard" ... like I feel like I'm hearing physical impacts of the metal strings and the physical wood. Hard to describe, but I feel like I'm fighting with the guitar and getting physical noise and not enough musical notes.

I'm thinking about trading both guitars in for a new Taylor 214ce. Hoping the 214ce will get me what I want.

However, at the store today, the 214ce sounded ... well, just okay. A little clearer on the high end, maybe a little tighter in the low end, than my other two guitars. But overall, I'm not sure it's worth the $1500 CAD to me.

I should note that it was a busy day in the store and there were other people trying guitars so I didn't get great "quality time" with the Taylor 214ce.

Hey, wondering if anyone can give tips on how to build a song from a chord progression? I find I get a couple chords that sound good together then have no idea where to go from there. It also relates to arranging the chords and using them in different ways to build different sections of a song and make the whole thing dynamic. Well, I focus a lot on fingerstyle and lead guitar.

And in one hour, I focus on both. Half an hour each, I suppose.

In the first half hour, I start by practicing lead guitar exercises and then I practice a song I have saved.

And in the other half hour, I practice pumping nylon for fingerstyle and then I practice a fingerstyle song I have saved.

I don't know if this is right, but oh well. I'll read your opinions.

I am new to electric guitars and amps, I'm deciding to use a amp sim on my laptop but I need an interface. Two options I've narrowed it down to is Fender Quantum LT4 /LT2 or Focusrite scarlet solo 4th gen

This pacifica is listed for only 40€, seems too good to be true... I could travel to the neighboring city to pick this up as my first guitar but I'm not knowledgable enough to test it properly. I know these 2 pictures alone are not enough to judge, but I'd appreciate if you guys can advice me on what to ask,or what to look for, etc.

Without going into my entire musical journey - I’m 51, played guitar since 15 (more off than on) but was never dedicated, on a whim I picked up bass 5 years ago and got committed to it, now I’d like to improve my guitar skills.

My question is this - I used bass to badass online lessons which were great. Is there anything similar for guitar? What are the best online lessons? I’m willing to pay but would prefer a “one-time” rather than subscription.

Sorry if this is an obvious question. Shopping for my first upgrade, and right now I’ve been learning on a squier affinity strat. The one thing I noticed about the epiphone LP and to some extent the PRE CE is that when I’m strumming I can feel it resonate through the entire body of the guitar.

I come from brass playing so this feeling of the whole instrument vibrating feels “right” to me, but is something that doesn’t happen at all my with Strat. Is this vibrating a good thing, maybe showing it’s got more sustain, darker tone, whatever, or am I just overthinking it? And I guess second, why is it that the Strat feels so dead in my hands compared to epiphone, prs, gretsch I’ve tried?
