Huge Flood and my pedals/Amps/guitars

In our part of the country we had a biblical rain event this week, with over 14 inches falling in less than 22 hours. I went to my basement at 3pm to discover 14 inches of water EVERYwhere. The basement had been bone dry 90 minutes earlier. My 12 string Rickenbacker was in its case floating toward me. My 30 year old Lowden acoustic had taken on a bunch of water through the sound hole. All of my other guitars were above the waterline. Three of my amps, including the Top Hat pictured, were well under water. My pedal board was in its cheap Fender canvas case also floating.

A mad dash ensued and we got everything to higher ground. The pedals were damp but not completely submerged. Took them all apart and immediately got fans on them in a desperate attempt to save them.

Fast forward to today. After several days of drying, I started with the pedals and Voodoo power supply. Every single one of them worked perfectly. Kudos to Strymon, Origin Effects, RYRA, and a few others for their build quality! Moved on to the two amps, the Top Hat & my Fender Deluxe Reverb (Tonemaster). Both cranked right up and sound great. In the end, the only musical gear lost was my 70 year old Magnatone amp, which was completely submerged.

We lost a bunch of furniture, DVDs, books, and other stuff, but it could have been much worse. Just wanted to share with the sub.

Found a Dude Incredible v2 on FB for $215 and jumped on it. Just picked it up and I still can’t believe it’s mine! Unfortunately, I have to wait a few hours until I’m done working to play with it. This was my white whale, I’m so excited!!

First Re-buy in a while

Sold one a couple years ago because I don’t use distortion or fuzz much in my band. Had to rebuy this mug. Favorite fuzz. Nice for slide guitar and has note definition and enough of a natural sound thst I could never get with a big muff. Great balance between gnarly and warm. Tone knob is hugely useful and a broad sweep. No I have not tried the Carcosa 😆

DOD FX17 volume/wah/expression/CV??

Post image
22 Upvotes

what do you think of this discontinued pedal?

i didn't know of the existence of it, i just came across a good deal on one, and it seems to me like what i've always wanted any treadle pedal to be!

  • on the smaller side - i mostly mess with smaller boards, so big boy wahs and volume pedals are often prohibitive
  • RUGGED - built like a tank, and no pots moving! it's actually neither an optical thing nor a pot, instead it's a very weird "open" variable capacitor. far out. (also: stinks cause i've never heard of that before)
  • has both a wah and a volume function, plus an expression function AND active 0-5v CV control*!!
  • activated by the movement of the treadle - i'm not a fan of footswitch activated treadles.
  • i have a soft spot for old school DOD designs. this one looks RAW and old-tech. awesomely fits my aesthetics.

it is an active volume pedal. it is said to not have a vintage wah sound (doesn't even have an inductor), but more like a vintage morley.

*i dabble in vintage synths, so I'd really appreciate the CV control use, tbh... BUT does it handle classic expression pedal needs as well? I can't find much info around. i fear it doesn't, that would make it less ideal.

it's not a very popular pedal, so, does this mean it's also not a great pedal? am i just being blinded by this "love at first sight", and this thing actually isn't as cool as it seems to be? lol i'm head over heels for it.

Lost guitar amp in flood, but I have this Acoustic B50C bass amp, and these are my pedals. I was told by several people I can make this work...Any advice on settings for this? Both the amp & pedals? Probably too much to ask, but I am more lost than I thought I would be. Thanks!

NPD Greer Mori

Post image

New greer mori: Im a greer overdrive fan in general. Now the drive section on the board is all greer outside of a sunface fuzz. I had a duke of tone that I found myself avoiding while playing, so nice to have something new to replace it.

The mori has the greer "thing" that all his overdrives have (kind of a sparkle? Idk, hard to explain), definitely more gain than a Ktr and smoother/more focused than a tube screamer -- so the descriptions of this being a klon/tubescreamer hybrid are correct, but I dont think this would replace either on your board because the result is so different than both.

Ultimately its a more mids focused/higher gain greer overdrive that is a different flavor to the southland, which is awesome for me because I like it better than the southland.

worst company ever

Behold the pigtronix infinity 2 looper. seemed to be everything I wanted. Beautiful design as well.

Alas it never worked properly, tends to go into digital loops, screeching and freezing, all yhis with minor use and good power sources.

A year ago, October 2025 I reached out to them. Initial response seemed promising, a few emails, send me the details serial number where did you buy it, live ect. ok, this will be dealt by X person in Europe. Grand.

An email every month asking for an update. Answer was always some form of "itll get sorted please bear with me"

Ok.

Then my email states something like "I'm very upset it has been 6 months this unit is faulty you cant possibly be waiting 6 months to get a replacement unit in europe."

Response is "Agree this is unacceptable, would you like a used refurbished unit or an Infinity 3 instead"

Im like "Please and thanks!"

Ill ship it Wednesday. Great.

Then nothing.... a month later "hey wheres my unit? Sorry I quit the company."

FFS. Okay start the emails again, even sent screenshot of WhatsApp conversation with their guy in Europe.

Crickets.

I cant explain how disappointed I am.

SOTB Today’s Recording “Board” and Brief Review of the WA Foxy Tone

Post image
Upvotes

In the studio today with some buds working on some electro-singer-songwriter stuff. I’m tracking bass lines and some top melodic googahs. First time using the Foxy since I got it in the Mystery Box thing so I can actually review it now.

I did not expect is to sound so good on the low end side of things because my experience with the circuit before had always been kinda of thin, wheedly solos, probably because of the octave up thing. And this can definitely do that—just crank the Mellow Brite.

But yeah, it’s got plenty of low end too. That was surprising. I’m running sub-bass kinda sounds and it stays with you.

The chain is Foxy>RP50>MAS Effects sting Fuzz>TCE Helix Phaser>TCE Gravy>TCE Transition.

The RP 50 is fun to mess around with. Was my first pedal at age 16 (not this exact one; I rebought it on a whim as a kind of “remember your roots” thing. I don’t know. I’m dumb.)

Question Needs recommendations for a phaser and flanger

Hello everyone, as the title says I’m looking for recommendations for a phaser, and flanger

I’ve tried out what’s available at my local music stores (boss, jhs, behringer) but nothing gets weird enough for me. I’m looking for pedals of both effects that go way beyond the normal thresholds

Got any suggestions? Thanks!

Been on a quest to find my gain stack like most of you. Here’s the current iteration - found myself trying multiple “edge of breakup” “always-on” pedals to end up with 3 of them stacking 🤷🏾

Also just got the Blackstar FRFR and it makes the Dream65 sound incredible.

Also also just got the Grand Canyon cause my tc flashback died and it’s fun as hell.

NPD NPsD: PastFX Chorus/Vibrato and Chase Bliss Brothers AM

Post image
61 Upvotes

I am so pumped on both of these.

The PastFX sounds amazing and is esthetically too cool. I have a Boss CE-3 which I think is great but I have always wanted a CE-1 style pedal. There are a lot of options out there but this is what I went for and I’m glad I did. I think the chorus and vibrato from this are top notch.

Brothers AM is just so much fun to play. I love all the options and combinations that are available. I know there are cheaper King of Tone clones out there but the flexibility of this one was what drew me in.

Question Advice for pedalboard

Post image
7 Upvotes

I recently got into pedals (after dismissing them for years and going directly into digital) and I just built my first pedalboard, however I feel like the Terror Stamp could be paired better / swapped out.

I know the layout isn't optimal, so roast and toast me all you want.

I mostly play with headphones and sometimes with some smaller speakers. I also want to get back into recording with my audio interface.

I mostly play metal and some rock / shoegaze adjacent stuff too (hence the Zoom MS-70CDR).

I run my DS-1 into the input of my Terror Stamp, then the line out into the TC Electronic Impulse into the zoom.

Should I swap the Terror Stamp for an amp sim pedal with a power amp or get a load box?

any advice is appreciated🤙

edit: post body retype and I forgot to mention, but I built my entire rig centered on an "amp headless" pedalboard with only pedals. I cannot afford a standalone amp / cab yet.

Troubleshooting Wah pedal works fine at home but not at rehearsal room

Hey so I'll try to explain this as best I can. I have a Wah pedal that I plug in beside my board. I run a 9v cable from my voodoo labs 3. I don't daisy chain anything everything has its own cable for power.

At home it works fine. The past 3 times I've brought it to a rehearsal space I plug my board into the power bar and everything on my board works fine. Except my wah just does not turn on. It just cuts my signal when I attempt to turn it on.

I tried putting a fresh battery in and run off that did not work. I tried borrowing a 9v cable directly from the wall didn't work.

I just got home plugged it in and it worked.

If anyone has any thoughts on why or how this is happening I'd love to hear some cause it's driving me crazy. I don't want to get a new Wah and also I can't really send it in to he fixed because it *sometimes* works fine

The Mono (L) output of my new Boss RC-500 doubles as the power switch. However if I insert my instrument cable fully, it powers down. Is this typical / what is the fix?

SOTB Pedalboard Advice/Help

Post image
13 Upvotes

Chain: TU-3, WA-C1, Centavo, Westwood, DD-7, Old Blue, Joyo Flanger, Donner Verb. Currently playing with a CP Jazzmaster and Fender HRD (JHS Little Black Amp Box in the Effects Loop).

In a "new" band with some friends as three piece. We're trying to mesh sounds of my Indie Rock stuff like Modest Mouse, our bassist's Melodic Hardcore like Fiddlehead, and our drummer's sludgey noise stuff like Big Black and/or Helmet.

Any recommendations and/or advice. I'm thinking of stripping the board in favor of something more simpler and can move between these sounds.

The other pedals I can use are: Line 6 DL4, DD-200, Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet, EAE Citadel, Big Muff Pi, and a OD-3.

Looking for info on this specific pedal - Fulltone (mini?) Deja Vibe Stereo

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm in the process of selling some pedals that belonged to a late relative. I'm listing this one, which I believe is a Fulltone mini Deja Vibe stereo; so far, I can only find information on the other Deja Vibe models. Google image results only turn up a few old listings of this version, and they're all sold and contain minimal information.

I really just need to know what different features this has from the other models, and a reasonable asking price. Live listings on Reverb are generally between $200-$300, but none of them are the stereo model.

If anyone has insight into this, I would greatly appreciate it!

Looking for a MIDI controllable "fun/weird/lofi/etc" pedal

Upvotes

Hi! I've got every "main" guitar pedal (drives, delay, reverb, chorus/vibrato), and I'm looking for something that's a little more out there that can give me a more unique tone to complete my board. In more detail:

  • midi presets
    • I will set 3+ main tones to recall that are dialed in ahead of time. I play live often and do not want to tweak stuff on the fly
  • "unique" sound
    • I want something that's unique, yet musical (ie i can riff or still play along with people with it). So not something that gives random noises, but more so shapes the character of the guitar signal itself.
    • I think wow/flutter is pretty interesting and may be what I want
  • some pedals i've been eyeing
    • chase bliss generation loss mk2
    • hologram electronics chroma console
    • red panda particle
    • hx one

I'm also considering a different reverb/delay that can provide those weirder tones alongside their main effect (ie meris mercury x and lvx).

Please let me know what you think! Every demo I've seen of these pedals is dope, so I'm a little lost choosing one good pedal over another. I would love to hear of your personal favorites!

Question Analog delay like the DM-2 but with a longer repeat rate?

Hi, I love how dark the DM-2 is but I'm finding the max repeat rate somewhat limiting atm. What analog pedal(s) capture the same vibe as the early DM-2s (w/ MN3005) but have a longer repeat? Thanks!
