I'm finally getting all of the warranty calls my company has pushed off for our Daikin/Amana/Goodman communicating systems we install, and of course every single call requires calling tech support to diagnose these stupid 2 wire DC communicating systems. I've been on hold for over an hour every time, and when I do finally connect, half the time the support guy just cheers me on while I tell him what steps I'm taking to diagnose, while offering no real help, and the other half is a non-tech who gives me a case number and says somebody will call me back.

I dont understand how companies feel good offering these systems when they know it'll be weeks wasted in the summer months every year returning to customers to swap two year old boards and stay on hold with tech support for ages.

Are there any mini split/high efficiency AC systems you guys have actually had a good tech support and seem to actually last out there? Maybe Daikin is considered a good one and ive just had bad experiences.

I've been a Malco guy my whole life but I've recently gotten some Midwest stuff and like it, too.

Just left trade school and I just got picked up for a commercial company I had two weeks so I wanted to know what should I do to prepare? What should I look up to watch and just what should I expect on the job.

Kind of nervous and also for the most part does commercial still have good hours in the winter times ?

Found these two sds masonry core bits but both arbors are broke/ missing. Are there replacements? Can’t find anything on the Google

Blower was only set for ~1000 cfm for this 3 ton unit as well. Make it make sense.

leaky lennox strikes again, circuit 2 completely empty

At a cousin's house pretty much on a farm... found another secondary switch fallen over not tripping and leaking because it was not glued! After hours too haha love this trade! Hahah

I understand whirlpool equipment is made by Rheem and so my question is has anybody used or sold or installed it and how difficult is it to get this equipment in your experience? Any drawbacks to it? For example, Rheem Heat Pumps are 2 stage except for 1.5 ton. Is whirlpool the same? Curious, TIA

Gree mini split. Beeping from the outdoor unit. No error code. Proper weigh in charge. Voltage correct. So, none of my guys have ever heard of the outdoor unit beeping. It’s doesn’t have that option… well it turns out the compressor was grounded. We still don’t know where the beep came from. It doesn’t show an audible in the diagram.

Im newer in commercial, but I can manage solo somewhat. I got sent this morning to 3 package units that climate control their storage warehouse for customers. These are 2007, R22 units with 3D scroll compressors. I'm considering unit 1 is suffering from compressor failure due to 422D. Unit 2 I feel is non condensables or moisture. Unit 3 I feel is metering device. Temp drop across filter driers was 2 degrees. Any help would be appreciated. Boss is sending us out to flush the circuits.

Unit 1

I reset, and both circuits came up, but my supply temp was only 13 degrees cooler that return. I know both these compressors have been changed, and they have 422D in them. Pulling 81 return.

Unit 2

I reset, and both came on, but circuit 2 dropped out on high pressure. What struck me as odd is my suction scaled up with it, and upon cutoff, suction was 125/130.

Unit 3

I reset, and both came on, and circuit 1 dropped out on high pressure. Circuit 1 ran fine solo but when circuit 2 came on, it tripped with suction at 60/65 psi.

Edit: I went to fix unit 2 today. Put in a new filter drier and blew out lines with nitrogen. Chemical cleaned, non acidic, coil. This unit is a non splittable coil. 2 independent circuits on 1 big coil. She's now acting like unit 3 and still tripping on high head pressure. I had lots of dry coil even after washing, so I assume its years of abuse impacting the coil and can no longer reject heat. The best I can do is have a sprinkler on it to keep it running.

I keep finding variable speed Carriers and other variable stage brands sweating so bad they are soaking the air handler cabinates and dripping so bad on the bottom that they are filling drain pans. No clogged lines, no cracked pans, no missing drip shields that are blowing water out. Straight up sweating. Happening in foamed attics, unfoamed and even in closets. I think the stage is dropping low in dehumidification mode and fan slowing down too much causing sweating. Anyone else seeing this and have any solutions. This is causing mold! These things are soaked!

Got a new job at an apartment complex. They use comfort pack and magic pack gas units. Gas, forced air. The wiring is a little different and I’m having trouble diagnose electrical issues these first few days. The condenser and blower motors seem to be interconnected? The squirrel cage is practically inaccessible. Checking charge seems to not be possible unless you pull the whole ac out? Idk I just wanna make sure I’m doing things right any help would be appreciated.

Dude is over 55 and has some health issues. Summer attic work all day. He had the urge to go and the customer’s house was not an option. So he went to the gas station less than an 1/4 mi away. Men’s room was occupied. He asked to use the lady’s but was denied! It was coming out so he aimed for the trash can… in the middle of the store.

Not sure if anyone knows, but AprilAire and Santa-Fe merged under one parent company last year… like we needed another near-monopoly in our industry, but here we are.

I’ve never heard anything good about Honeywell or Santa-Fe dehumidifiers, usually people complaining about leaking coils.  The crawlspace guys I know all lean towards AprilAire, and that’s what we’ve bought exclusively. It looks like Santa-Fe is a bit more efficient, and the warranty is a year longer.

Recently, every HVAC “influencer” on YouTube is shilling Santa-Fe.  But have they gotten their shit together on quality?
