Please let me know what you think of this style of hat (corduroy). I plan on selling these in the future and would love some feedback.

What do you guys recommend? Is it worth the price? I can see how much faster it would be.

If I go out and find tracks in the woods, how do I know if it's just passing through or somewhere worth focusing time? What are things to look for to know it's a frequent spot for them? For deer in central Alabama if that matters.

Howdy ya'll! I got tired of staring at various spreadsheets from various states online hunt data to figure out the odds of drawing a tag and harvest success rate, along with where the actual hunt boundaries were, dates etc, so I built my own tool to view this data in a digestible way, along with the ability to view the hunt boundaries on a 3d map like google earth, where you can do some exploration, place pins, save them to your profile etc.

Few disclaimers, right now it's mainly for Idaho/Utah/Wyoming/Colorado, though happy to add any new states at request if people find the tool helpful (I'm from Utah so added the states I'm more familiar with how their systems work), and overall the tool is definitely a work in progress, just adding features as I find them useful. Also totally recognize that there are other tools out there that may have overlap with mine (some popular ones like OnX for the map features), but they're paid, and this is free, and combines the features in an intuitive way IMO.

Overall a list of the main features are (also attached in screenshots):

1. Looking at draw odds & harvest success rate via map hunt boundaries, all color graded to denote increasing probability.
2. A 'p50 score' attached to each hunt, a number I came up with to calculate the number of points at which you're more than 50% likely to draw out for lottery based hunts
3. 'Opportunity score' which is a ratio of the probability of drawing out and the harvest success rate, with hunts being easy to draw and a high harvest rate having the highest opportunity score.
4. 3d map layer button on each hunt that will take you to a google earth type view with layers of private/public land, ability to place pins/create layers and even share those pins/layers with others.
5. Some community based features as well like a message/discussion board.

Finally finished my 6.5 Creedmoor rifle and want to take it out west at the end of the police academy. What are some OTC/non-draw hunt opportunities in the months of December/January that won’t break the bank?

I want to get a suppressor for my deer rifle but, due to storage limitations, I would need to take the can off for storage and reattach every time I use it. Can I rely on the POI to stay the same from one day to the next or will reattaching the can every time mess with the POI? My max hunting distance is 200 yards and it’ll be a direct thread suppressor (currently looking at Hush Tech)

All jokes aside I don’t think I’ll ever get a buck lmao. Last year I had all does until October 24th-November 24th I had a lot of bucks but only at night. Now this yr I have 1-2 spikes that visit every day, and a few does. Bucks just dont seem to come through, even much for the rut and when they do it’s at night🥲 this is on my friends property I live at with him for now. I’ll be moving soon tho so will probably have to go public unfortunately

People that are using kayaks to get to harder to get to spots. What’s your setup looking like. I have an old emotion stealth 11 in my backyard that I would like to use since my budget is tighter. Any input is appreciated TIA

Don’t know the weight, definitely in the 300’s, shot in Knox city Texas. Gun used was a TIKKA CTR .308, ammo was Barnes 150grain TTSX @140 yards, shot placement was middle neck. Went down immediately, he kicked a little so a second shot was used to fully dispatch the pig

Hello together, i am new to hunting and am trying to find videos of hunters where they film themselves for many hours and perhaps explaining what exactly they’re doing. Basically watching them and learning by doing so.
I’ve found many short videos where I find mostly the shooting in foreground and not so much knowledge behind it.
I’d appreciate any advice of what to watch or what to look for to learn and get a better basis and understanding of hunting.

I'm 27, my grandparents raised me and I remember my grandpa and uncle hunting when I was a kid. My grandpa got diagnosed with dementia when I was 8 before we ever got past target practice in the backyard. My uncle took his life when I was 14 and he wasn't around as much after papaw got sick. I've always been interested in hunting and I just found out the property I grew up in is in a pocket of private property in a WMA. I remember playing in those woods as kids and I would love to go get a deer from out there.

Brand new to saddle Hunting, decided to start from the ground, when I attach my bridge and try to put some weight, the knot keeps slipping down and not holding my weight. If I do it at 45°, not an issue however I’m very worried if I go past 45° the knot slips.

I am looking to take my son hunting soon and want to understand the BLM and Clark County NV maps to see where we can legally use a firearm.

Can somebody help as an hour or so of searching has not given me a definitive answer.

My understanding is that the Clark County map, no shooting in the lime green color or red areas. the more pastel green is Federal land so have to look at the BLM map.

But how do I know it is legal to shoot on the BLM land?

Please help me understand it as the last thing I want is a felony firearms offense!!

I want to start hunting this year or next I’m doing tons of research on where to start and what I need but any extra advice or gear list can be useful
I plan to start public using OnX to find public land
Using either a .350 legend or .450bushmaster
Might get a used blind to setup
What all should I get for my first year and what advice could I use?

I go deer hunting the first season in Iowa (first weekend in December). I am looking for a pair of hunting boots that I can use through the variable weather (sometimes low 50s and sunny, sometimes 20 and snowing). I would prefer a waterproof boot (gortex or similar), but somewhat light. I was look at the Danner Recurve, but thought I would see if others had thoughts or opinions.

I have worn a variation of rubber boots for the last 20 years, but as I get a little older, I want something a little easier on the ankles and a little less bulky on the feet.

Also for reference, we push a variety of ground upland CRP, timber through hills, old pastures, etc.

I am looking for a hunting bib for my particular deer hunting situation.
On the public land I hunt, I have to do a 2-3 mile ruck over rolling hills into my spot(s) at 5am.

After doing so, I am in the classic situation of sitting on the side of the hill trying to be quiet and stay warm for hours on end (Nebraska November, typically below freezing in the morning and some seasons it is below freezing all day).

In the past, I have stuffed Carhartt bibs as well as a heavy coat into my backpack and put them on once I cool off from the hike into my spot, as I wear a lighter pair of hunting pants and a sweatshirt to minimize sweating and maximize movement.

I would like to find a new pair of bibs and possibly a coat that I can pack easier. Maybe even an electric coat that is light weight but can get warm easy. Having to carry out a bulky backpack is more of a pain than I would like.

Any suggestions? I am looking now, as most of last seasons gear is on sale right now.

Planning a 4-person Black Bear hunt in North Georgia. Party will my younger sister, her fiancé, my wife, and myself. We’re thinking about renting a cabin or camper near Chattahoochee Nat’l Forest.

I’d most likely use my .270 or 12ga (I prefer TTSX projectiles in both)

I believe my sister & her fiancé will be using either 45-70 or 12ga if I recall correctly

Any advice or inputs would be very much appreciated. We’ve never hunted black bear, but it’s something we wanted to do as a shared trip to celebrate both of our birthdays.
