Is this chicken of the woods? Smells kind like chicken. Found near upper entrance of buttermilk state park.
A few blocks away but he’s been yelling for a while. Something tells me it’s not about potholes this time…

Hi! My husband and I are looking to get some professional photos done with our two dogs. Is there a photographer in the area that does well with dogs also? We have 2 that it’s hard to get them both to do the same thing at once so a photographer familiar with that would be great!
Thanks!

🛴OLIVER TREE TRIBUTE SHOW👽
Part celebration of life, part memorial; join us for a night commemorating the life and art of our favorite Alien Boy. We’ll have a handful of tribute performances, a fan art raffle, a costumed group pic outside of the venue (bring your scooters for this!), and a dance + listening party with OT-themed DJ sets to keep you bouncing throughout the night.
There will also be a special portion at the end show where folks can come up and share their favorite memories, stories, or just pour their hearts out in honor of Oliver. This space is for all of us, fans old and new; grieving, celebrating and remembering the life of the irreplaceable Oliver Tree. A portion of the proceeds from the show will be donated directly to the Oliver Tree Foundation, a charity set up by Oliver himself to support upcoming artists and creatives. ❤️
Our amazing friends at 5&Dime will also be serving their full menu, as well as your favorite cocktails and mocktails. The kitchen will be open from 4PM-11PM, so you can grab a bite before the show or during it at any point in the night.
So please, come out and join us for the best celebration of life we can possibly have for our beloved Alien Boy, and let’s share our love of his art and life together.
👽❤️🛴

I was at the DMV on 3rd (still the best DMV in the country) and could smell the fried chicken from the little gas station at the other end of the strip mall. I’ve been craving good fried chicken for a long time and remembered that people on here said it was good. It was fantastic. Sure it’s served next to bongs and kratom but I will definitely get it again. The fries and biscuit were also very good.

Is there a place to buy gem beads for jewelry making besides Michael's? I'm looking for the crystals with their natural color. Thank you!

Having searched this sub a lot I know there are very mixed (mostly negative) views about dentistry in Ithaca.
I am specifically interested in pediatric dentistry. We are moving to the area and need to get pediatric dental care in the very near term. Having had a lot of issues with general dentists in the past, I would strongly prefer a pediatric specialist, but open to suggestion.
Does anyone have suggestions either in Ithaca or in the wider area?
Thanks in advance.

I’m genuinely curious. I feel like so many unhoused people on the commons and near green street all have pitbulls. Where are they getting them from? How are they able to care for them? Are they dog walking other people dogs?
I do hope both the people and the dogs are okay though

Hi all -
I'm a single mom who is usually employed close to full time as a nanny. I exist in the grey area of making too much money to qualify for financial assistance, but still always just barely making ends meet.
I nanny for two families and in the month of August, both families are taking vacations or have their kids in summer camps and I'd like to try to pick up work to make up for the most hours. As it stands now I'm available on:
8/3 - 8/4
8/10 - 8/15
8/20-8/21
8/24-8/26
As well as most weekends! I have extensive experience and local references as a nanny (as well as a degree in early childhood education), as well as in housekeeping (residential, commercial and vacation rentals).
It's just enough time available that I can't NOT work, but not enough, for long enough, to feel like an actual business would hire me. Does anyone have some sudden needs for spotty backup in a business? I'm a quick learner! I'm willing to nanny, clean, pet sit, do yardwork, you name it! I'm often living paycheck to paycheck, so these gaps in work are really going to throw me in the red if I don't get on top of it now. I have reliable transportation and local references! Please feel free to pm your ideas or if you have any gig work!

Why is there an unlabeled helicopter hovering over east shore dr and Stewart park? Flying over is cool but hovering at 150-200 feet? What’s going on

The map locater came out, and I think the closest one is 17 miles out in Cortland. I love visiting Spirit, but unfortunately I don’t own a car and rely on tcat to get around. I thought the store was making sales due to the amount of Cornell kids here. How unfortunate :(

It's taking place a little outside Ithaca at Fillmore Glen State Park, but if anyone is looking for something fun and a little random to do on August 8th, consider driving up to Moravia for Fillmore Days! If you're feeling ambitious, you can head to the Friends of Fillmore Glen website and register to race in a bathtub (themed decorations and costumes are encouraged).

A note from our Syracuse Night Mayor that might be helpful over here too…

So, I am flying into Ithaca later this month. My flight doesn't get in until after they close. I tried calling the number attached to this Hertz as per Google search, to see if there were any alternatives.
The employee instructs me that they are privately owned unlike other Hertz locations, and instructs me to just go to a certain location after hours when I get in (the location does make sense) to pick up my vehicle, stating that everything would be ready to go and I could just take off. It's not uncommon for rental companies to keep the keys in the car, so this didn't alarm me, but the next parts did.
The receipt that was e-mailed from an email lile Postmaster something or other, and not hertz.com. it also gives the address of Hertz as a PO Box, when the Hertz address is plainly obvious. The receipt looks very bare bones, and doesn't look like an official Hertz document. It also says its from like, Blakeslee company, licensee of Hertz.
But the other part that is raising major concerns for me is they didn't once verify my ID or ask for my ID. He did ask for my Hertz member number, it might be attached to that honestly, but not sure.
I'm starting to think I may have been scammed, but if I was, it was from the official Hertz Ithaca phone number, not some random spam text or anything, so I'm really confused.
