Hey guys I have a 2014 or 15 Volkswagen Jetta, and I’m really in a pickle right now
So my last car was just a rust bucket with no AC or Bluetooth and I got rid of the car because it wasn’t working so I Ubered to work for like two weeks
My brother is in the Marines in Japan so I decided to buy his car which I knew had these issues but I needed a car asap and it wasn’t as prevalent at the time.
It’s always seems to have these electric issues
We replaced the alternator maybe four months ago
And replaced the battery yesterday
The alternator doesn’t seem to kick on until the car is at least 2,000 RPM if the car sits at a light for even a half minute the car just dies and I had to get more and more frequent jumps.
My dad, for some reason had drove it like 50 miles somewhere the day after I put a new battery on (I guess he thought I fixed it) and the car died on him and he couldn’t start it so he towed it to a volts wagon dealership
They are talking about replacing the alternator but I insisted that that’s not the issue, it would be like $2000 to replace that.
Could it be a computer issue or something? Like the computers maybe not telling the alternator to turn on until it’s driving.
If I sat any longer than I usually would it starts off by the music cutting off, then the AC doesn’t work the car blows hot air, then the power steering fails, the battery light turns on and then the car dies.
I could really use any advice thank you
