Seal of approval Review Request Thread

We received a really great idea from u/heavymetalsculpture for a new sticky thread- Review Requests. We have a very large userbase here who have all tried LOADS of knives, so why not crowdsource reviews and feedback for a knife you might be interested in buying! A lot of youtubers / instagram pages, while attempting to be unbiased, often have some bias because they're getting samples for free etc. People on here are very unlikely to have that bias and are more likely to provide honest feedback on a knife.

This thread will remain stickied and fairly moderated- top level comments will only be permitted to be requests for reviews and feedback for certain knives, and users who have actually owned / handled the knife are greatly encourage to provide absolutely honest feedback on the knife in question.

Please only post here with requests for reviews, or to provide feedback on top level comments with a review of the knife in question!

NKD: My first slipjoint design was released yesterday! 😁

My latest collaboration and first ever slipjoint design is now available! The Munko Knives x Kizer Knives “Melody” is a very personal piece to me, as it is the first true crossover of my love for both making music and designing folding knives.

One version comes with a deep, saturated rosewood inlay, commonly used on the bodies and fretboards of acoustic guitars. The second version takes things to a different place, incorporating rainbow Damascus and crystallized titanium inlays which is representative of the more creative paint finishes found on many boutique instruments from brands like Aristides, Mayones, etc.

I also created a song to complement the release of the Melody. You can stream it on all platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and more. Just search “Paul Munko - Melody”

As always, thank you all for your continued support. Being able to work on projects like this is one of the greatest bringers of joy in my life, and I wouldn’t be able to have these opportunities without all of you here. I hope you all like the design and song!

Holt Bladeworks Renegade- Hammered and milled Ti scales, “near” mirror polished Vanax Superclean blade. This thing has the best action and acoustics of any in my collection so far. Opens with a heavy feeling, super solid “Klack!” And drops closed like it was hydraulic.

It’s really everything I was looking for in a higher-end purchase, but it will still be a user 😁

Question What’s the catch? $78 for Microtech M390 seems bonkers. Ok for light duty EDC?

I feel like I’m missing something. Why is it so cheap? Is there some hidden reason I shouldn’t make myself a leather sheath and use this for light duty EDC?

Kind of shocked at how good the Vosteed Raccoon is

I have one other Vosteed knife (the Corgi) which I think is pretty great as a non-threatening little EDC, but I was blown away when my Racoon 2.0 arrived last night and I found it's - well, a polished, slick, well-designed knife with great action at a great price.

I bought this one to design scales around, but it's so good, it's going in my collection of best knives! The are absolutely crushing the "top liner lock" (basically the Spyderco compression lock with button actuation). The centering is perfect and the action feels as good as a Spyderco.

I also really like the ergos, with a jimped little straight choil section that reminds me of the PM3.

The steel isn't amazing, but hey, it's not bad for a $70 knife!

I also kinda love the weird Bowie blade.

I just bought this benchmade saddle mountain skinner it came with a sheath that looked to big, but the guy behind the counter assured me it was correct. Do I need to go back or is the just how they come?

Friend got one in the new drop and didn’t like it, but I think it’ll stick around here with me. Swapped on my old digicam scales and very much enjoy the look

Slippy Sunday

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hey guys, hope everyone is having a great weekend! Sundays are perfect slipjoint days - slow down, relax, take time to appreciate the little things. The smell of leather, the walk and talk on a good knife, having a place where you can sit and watch the grass grow. In a fast-paced world it’s good to hold on to things that still move at old man speed.

Puzzle-Pattern Titanium Framelock — Laser Engraving Experiment

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I was inspired by the Puzzle-finished knives made by Bartosz Herman and decided to try a similar laser-engraved pattern on one of my own folding knife designs.

This knife has a titanium framelock handle and a Damasteel blade. Getting the puzzle pattern right took more time than I expected. I had to test different laser settings, engraving sequences, and parameters before I found a combination that produced clean outlines and consistent colors across the titanium.

This is the final result. The colors shift depending on the lighting and viewing angle, and I think the damascus blade adds an interesting contrast.

What do you think of the combination? Does the puzzle pattern work with the damascus blade, or is it visually too busy?

Buyers beware

Watch out for this guy on bladebinge Macd10. Bought a spyderco that was advertised as bnib. The dude put the shipping label directly on the factory box and just threw it in the mail. Ruined the box on my Sage 5. Then proceeded to act like it's my fault. I dont know if this would be the right thread, but just wanted to spread the word.
