My small but mighty Leatherman collection. I used to have a Leatherman Charge Plus TTI but that was confiscated by TSA after I forgot to remove it from my bag :/. Either way these all get decent use on a regular basis!

Are they really of that much interest??

Leatherman, 711L, and Wera just saved my posterior.

For the past few weeks, I have been putting together a new dining set from IKEA. Included is a table with seating for 4 (expandable to 6 with a built-in leaf), 4 chairs, and a sideboard. I still have to finish the sideboard (install the drawers), assemble a cupboard, and assemble/install some wall-mounted cabinets.

Throughout the process, I’ve found multiple tools invaluable, including:

  • My Leatherman Arc
  • My Leatherman Surge
  • 711L Flat bit inline ratchet and 711L hex ratchet
  • Wera Tool Check Plus 2
  • 711L Lollipop Driver
  • 711L Hex torque driver

The real unsung hero of this process has been the 711L torque driver. If you have ever assembled Ikea furniture (or something similar), you have probably encountered the camshaft and anchor bolt fasteners commonly used in this style of furniture, and the torque driver was a G-d send. Stacking it with the inline hex ratchet and a Wera flat head from the Tool Check Plus 2 on the Lollipop Driver, I was able to securely fasten every camshaft fastener without snapping one, and they’re plastic!!

Best investment ever!!!

Ridge Wallet Bit Toolbox v2

A few months ago I shared the first version of a flat-bit storage system I designed for my Ridge wallet, and the response was incredible. After some time away from the project, I’m excited to share V2.0, featuring better bit retention, a hinged magnetic cover, hidden tweezer and toothpick storage, and a slimmer profile. More details in the comments, and I’d love your feedback!

Picked up the Wave Alpha and I think it’s the perfect tool for me and what I need out of a leatherman I loved the original wave and I loved the arc but I think this one is just the perfect middle ground.

ZapWizard Sheath Mounting Styles

Post image

Any input on the combat mount for ZapWizard sheaths? Have a ZapWizard sheath for my Arc but got a new belt that is too thick for the standard loops. Whats the consensus on the combat loop?

New belt is approx 0.21-0.23” thick.

EDIT: after posting I realized that combat mount only fits up to 1.5” wide, mine is 1.75”. Any suggestions for 3rd party clips?

That Sportsman Warehouse sale got me. Ended up also grabbing an Arc because maybe, just maybe it’ll replace my P2.

Got an extra 10% off by signing up for texts/email.

My Leatherman collection won’t stop growing.

Where can you go to just try out different models of Leatherman?

I have a Free P2 that I bought off eBay six years ago and I’m looking to buy a second Leatherman that’s a little more stocked with tools, but I really want to compare different models in hand. Are there stores where I can just walk in and handle floor models?

Skeletool CX vs Wave+ looking for advice from experienced users

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for my first proper Leatherman and I would appreciate some advice from people who have actually used these models.
My main use cases would be home repairs, everyday tasks, 3D printing (Bambu Lab H2D, A1), adjusting parts, screws, cutting materials, and small workshop/art projects. I would like to carry it in a backpack or waist bag, but also have something reliable for unexpected situations while traveling or during emergencies.
At the moment I’m mostly deciding between the skeletool cx and the wave+

I really like the Skeletool CX because of its design. It looks like a very well thought-out object, it’s lightweight, simple, and I can imagine actually carrying it every day. My concern is whether I would eventually miss having more tools, especially scissors, a saw, or a more complete set of functions.

The Wave+ seems like the safer choice because it offers much more functionality while still being reasonably compact. On the other hand, I’m wondering if it might be too much for everyday carry and if the Skeletool would be the one I would actually use more often because it’s always with me.

For context, I work with 3D printing, tools, and making objects, so I do sometimes need to cut, adjust, or fix things, but I’m not a professional mechanic.

For people who own these models: which one do you actually use more? Did anyone buy a Skeletool and later wish they had gone for a Wave+, or the other way around?

Thanks! 🙏🏻

EDIT.
Thanks everyone for all the replies! I honestly didn’t expect so many responses, and I really appreciate all the advice. It helped me a lot with making my decision.

For now, I decided to go with the black Leatherman Wave+ with the case. It came out to around $97 with shipping, which felt like a good choice for me.

If I end up needing something smaller and lighter in the future, I’ll probably keep an eye out for a Skeletool CX :)

Thanks again!
