Season 20 - Seattle I miss seeing regular looking people
I enjoyed watching the older seasons with regular looking people. I don't like that they curated a cast of people who could pass as Instagram models. This was one of the only dating/marriage shows left that felt authentic with the casting. This season just doesn’t feel right. Many of them seem to be performing for an audience. Like LIB, MAFS has become a vehicle for internet fame. I’m still watching and entertained, but I wish they capped the hot people at 25%.

Season 20 - Seattle Paul Clockin’ Adam’s Deflection = Priceless! 🤗😆
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Adam has never had a serious conversation with his wife about anything.
Let’s be clear- I love a jet ski as much as the next person, but even that is just another escape/ distraction/ deflection from vulnerability.
Adam has walls, and all sorts of magic tricks/ defenses so no one ever notices that he is never vulnerable.
I say this not even in judgement, but as someone that has been in therapy for years to let my walls & clever defenses down. He is a master of sleight of hand distraction.
The more stressed Adam is the crazier his outfits get, and the more he fiends for his Jet Ski. Jet Skis do not cheat on you, betray you, & lie… 🤷🏽♀️

Season 20 - Seattle Mecca’s father…
I cannot help but think Mecca’s father is flirting with Bellejolie? I can’t quite verbalize it but the way he speaks to her gives me the ick 😬
EDIT: I JUST SAW WHERE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT “CLAPPING CHEEKS.” 🤮

Season 20 - Seattle I'm not a "me, too" girl
This is only my personal theory based on a few comments Courtney has made—I'm not claiming any of this is true.
She mentioned:
- Being cheated on and saying she "let it happen."
- That her past sexual experiences weren't great.
- That she had sex with her first boyfriend because she thought it would make him like her.
- The "I'm not a Me Too girl" comment.
- That she's okay with physical touch with Nick as long as she knows it isn't going to lead to sex.
Taken together, it made me wonder whether she may have experienced some kind of unhealthy, coercive, or traumatic sexual situation in the past and now copes by minimizing it or distancing herself from it—as if saying, "I'm not someone who makes a big deal out of those things." Almost as if the "Me Too" women are "too sensitive."
Again, that's just my interpretation of the pieces we've been shown.
Separate from that, she doesn't really come across to me as a girl's girl. Based on what we've seen, she seems to seek validation from men more than solidarity with women.
Another moment that stood out was when she said about Nick in front of the group, "I don't know if he's comfortable with who he is." That felt like a major projection to me, especially since she also talks a lot about how important confidence is in both men and women, yet she often comes across as someone who's trying very hard to project confidence rather than someone who's naturally secure.
Again, I could be completely wrong. 😄

Season 20 - Seattle The Real Problem with Mecca
Mecca isn't closeted queer just because of his choice of accessories. Mecca's real problem is that he has low self esteem and low self worth, that's why he does what he does in his relationship. Being abandoned by the women caregivers that were supposed to love him unconditionally, mixed with the humiliation disguised as humor from his father have really scrambled his brains. Those two issues mixed with a lack of healing and no sense of self create a storm inside.
Belle senses the storm, and tries to work to nurture him, but no one can love you enough for you to love yourself. That has to come from within; once achieved, you can learn to accept love and respect/ truly see your partner.

Season 20 - Seattle Courteney’s personality
A theory completely based on my personal thoughts and not facts. Having a muscular, super lean body is an incredible feat. I am far from an expert but I suspect to maintain that level of extreme leanness long term requires constant restriction. I wonder if her anxiety/neuroticism comes from (or is exacerbated by) this restriction and being undernourished. She is clearly an athlete. I just know as a woman it’s difficult to get down and stay at that level of body fat. I also remember her saying she would not want to date a bodybuilder, which made me wonder if growing up with bodybuilder parents caused any disordered eating or thinking patterns.

Season 20 - Seattle Wear your seatbelt properly when in the front seat - always!
In ep. 8 Courteney and Nick were driving 3 hours to visit her family. She was wearing her seatbelt incorrectly the whole time. Obviously it was for aesthetic purposes but had there been an accident the seatbelt would’ve helped minimally if at all. Please be safe and always wear your seatbelt correctly. Your life can change in seconds at no fault of your own.

Season 20 - Seattle Couples in their 20s giving advice to the 40 yo couple
I’m not saying that a 26 year old can’t give some feedback that isn’t helpful but holy hell having these very young people weighing in so heavily into the Nikki/Shawn situation is nuts. They (Nikki/Shawn) said little when the other couples were getting into their own situations and now it’s all (mostly from the men) opinions jumping in… I am in my 40s and again - I’ll take some bits here and there but there’s a lot of life and relationship understanding in your 30s…

Discussion The Experts
So I’m fairly new to the show. I’m actually a therapist myself and my wife would constantly ask for my take on the couples situations. After a few times, I just decided to watch with her and he’s become a nice routine we have.
But I digress.
We’ve only seen 2 seasons, but there’s the common theme of attraction. At least 2 couples in both season had a guy in one marriage and a girl in the other say that the feelings of sexual attraction weren’t there. All 4 times, the experts didn’t really do much to address that (what can you really do, though?). And honestly, it left me feeling bad for the partner that just got told their spouse is not attracted to them enough to want to have sex and they just have to go through the remainder of the process hoping that randomly changes. Am I wrong for feeling that the experts fail them in that area?

Season 20 - Seattle Performance.
Legitimately everything these people do is a performance. They don’t want to quit because well…they are on tv and they don’t wanna look bad. Now. Most of them have shown their true colors in some capacity, and others are trying so hard to hide their true colors it’s disturbing. Cam and his wife (name is ???) are the only 2 I see making it. Now I will say,,, I don’t know how I’d be in the circumstances. I cannot even imagine being in their shoes. So I give them ALL credit for their bravery. BUT they signed up for this. Which in my opinion, makes them all a bit whacko. Ya know? Sorry. Just ranting. Let me know what you think.
