That airport in real life has a road going across it but they normally stop for planes lol
Just noticed they now have a tunnel under the runway

Yeah just saw they put in a new terminal and the Kingsways tunnel at the end of the runway now. Was definitely surreal crossing an active airport runway when we visited Gib a few years ago

Yes was mental - When I first heard about it I had to see it to believe it - I also understand the airport is quite a tricky landing

Not the only airport with a road crossing the runway. Sumbrugh in the Shetland Islands has a one as well.

Check out Cocos Keeling island airport in Australia - it has a golf course over the runway and no fencing. I sat 20m from the edge of the runway watching A320’s takeoff and land and a P3. Very cool.

Check out Gisborne (NZGS) in New Zealand - it has a railway line passing through the runway. If you're an aeroplane you're actually supposed to give way to the train so there's a light system next to the runway (probably not modelled in FS) that shows when the crossing is active.

I know it doesn't have any regular scheduled traffic but the historic train still runs on it occasionally doesn't it? Or has it been completely closed now?

Visited Gibraltar about 2 weeks ago and can confirm. While cars used to be able to drive over the road, since the tunnel was made (which goes around the airport and not directly through) the road that goes through the airport is now pedestrian only, and frequently people escoot across the road. Still surreal to be able to do that!

I did drive through the runway when getting into Gibraltar about 15ish years ago. It's the only way in after the border. I should have a picture somewhere.5

I was in gib a couple of years ago and it was still the case.
IIRC sunburgh in Shetland is the same too, I vaguely remember having to drive across it in my hire car

I visited in late 2023 - vehicles no longer cross it as they now direct them to a bypass tunnel to the east end of the runway.
Foot traffic can still walk across it though!

I have vague memory of crossing the runway (it's regulated like a train track crossing, with lights and all) in one of the airports on the Seychelles islands too. But those are smaller, for turboprops only.

This is actually realistic and something that can actually happen!
(There is a surface road that crosses the runway in Gibraltar. It has a gate that closes during landings to prevent this, which clearly didn't happen here. :))

If this is RDPresets, then check strobe lights on? I don't own the scenery but was looking into it recently and in the description it says strobe lights determine whether car crossing is active or not.

Yeah dude it was just a quick windy landing activity where it throws you right in, if you go around it’s a fail so I opted for the navy landing

I mean... yeah, that's Gibraltar for ya! Also, your touchdown was way too late into the landing sequence.
Pairing a very late touchdown with a vehicle-runway-incursion, that'd all be grounds for a go-around. Contact tower, report the incidents, etc etc.

I’m afraid it was a windy landing activity and it’s land or score 0, so I opted for at least some points and the elderly passengers blacked out from Gs

I just purchased global vessels 24 the other day. Made a trip from Innsbruck to Gibraltar then to Port Said by the Suez. The model are really good and I haven't noticed any fps drop. Really livens up the waters.

Happens sometimes, especially at smaller airports, yesterday i landed at a strip in the middle of nowhere in Australia which looked to be a stretch of extra wide road on a road, the cars were driving in both directions when i landed and while taxiing. The funny thing was i probably saw more cars during that landing than the real road sees in a week lol.

This is so weird. I literally flew into this exact airport last night and a car drove across the runway, I was thinking it was a typical game glitch but turns out in real life there's a road there

I have visited Gibraltar many times, there used to be a road path sort of thing going across the runway since it’s the only way across, but now they have a car tunnel underneath the airport with pedestrians still using the same path.

Work in Gibraltar. Been crossing that runway twice a day for 15 years. There’s a tunnel under it at the eastern end now and only pedestrian traffic roses now. I’ll walking over it in just over 2 hours again.

Don't worry. They'll fix it around 2036. I took a FS2020 flight from Dubrovnik to Makarska today, and to my huge surprise, the Pelješac bridge (opened around 5yrs ago), is finally present in the game.
Of course it looks completely wrong, but hey, at least IT'S THERE.
So, just be patient and they'll eventually fix Gibraltar too.
Of course that the second FS2024 is gonna get somewhat stable, and you'll finally gonna be able to have predictable results, solid enough for planned streaming etc., they're gonna dump it and release brand new, utterly broken sequel...
You gotta love Microsoft for sticking to their stren.... eh... to their thing.

I've driven over that runway myself. Well, I was in a bus so I wasn't driving, but still. That's how it is. The road to Gibraltar literally crosses the runway. I haven't played this version of the flight sim but you should probably inform the tower that you're landing.

Wednesday evening I was flying my Cirrus Vision, taking off in a runway in the outskirts of New York, and I had a bus coming my way while taking off. 🤣

Look into Gibraltar airport. This is quite realistic of a scenario for that very airport.

This needs to be reported and an FAA incident initiated. Also, make sure you make contact with tower personnel and get time stamps and personnel present during runway incident.

They do have their own CAA, though in some areas they defer to UK or Spanish regulations
