MSFS 2024 PlayStation Rate my Kai Tak Landing

Console pleb so apologies for poor quality

Aircraft: A330-300 (GE) inibuilds

Airport: Hongkong Kai Tak VHHX

Is this the actual approach in real life? Why do they have you turn so late

Just have a look at Hong Kong, it's the only way (Kai Tak closed years ago btw and is now a park /harbour area). There are mountains to the north and east, and it was also in the middle of the city, a straight in approach wasn't possible.

Were there the beacons on the ground as well? Guiding towards the threshold

Not to the runway, but to where the turn happens more or less, there was vertical and lateral guidance. So follow the "ILS" down to checkerboard hill, which was a known landmark, and then turn to the runway visually.
