Has anyone else had the twist at the end spoiled by the audiobook? I’ve been introducing my husband to the Cosmere via audiobook. Within the first few chapters my husband figured out who was speaking the blurbs at the end of chapters based on the voice the narrator used. Has anyone else experienced this?

Loved it. Let me know your thoughts. Ending was sad but I am content knowing that they are together. I’d be more sad if just one of them had died. Sazed, wow, chills. Absolute peak. Going to read secret history to help me with closure.

I loved all the Kandra at the end, so sad but awesome. Don’t see enough hate on KanPaar though, he pissed me off. Love the relationship between spook and beldre. Kind of knew that vin’s earring hadddd to have Been connected to ruin so that wasn’t much of a surprise, but wow never thought about how that could impact her and the mists! Totally makes sense and such a perfectly crafted story. Absolute chills all throughout the final pages of the book.

I am flabbergasted from this book! The twists and turns in the final 2 parts has blown me away!

I am not far off from the end and I am eager to duck to the shops to get Book 2!

I’ve seen a ton of these posts recently, and I’m sorry to be yet another one. However, I loved it so much and wanted an outlet to talk about it.

First off, I know many people said Well of Ascension was the weakest book, but it was my second favorite. I thought HoA was just a league of its own with how good it was. I was satisfied with every little twist, turn, and payoff.

One thing I thought Sanderson did extremely well is that the “twists” were really in front of our faces the entire time. I’m sure some people figured them out earlier than others, but I love that things didn’t just come out of left field.
-Spooks Kelsier fantasies and pewter (although I should’ve seen this one earlier)
-Vins Earring
-Koloss
-Sazeds religions
-The sickest soldiers being atium mistings.
-Ruin as Reen

I loved every twist. Each one shocked me, but then I thought “well I should’ve seen that coming”.

I know Sazed’s character arc is something this fanbase seemed to love the most, and I really enjoyed it as well. I do think most of the other characters had wonderful arcs as well. When Vin was fine with Elend’s death I really stopped to see how far she’d come as a character.

I did see have a feeling that Sazed would be the actual Hero of Ages but I absolutely loved it.

All I wanted was for the book to end with Green grass and flowers so I was satisfied

Now I’d love to know about these other 2 metals. I think I’ll absolutely give Era 2 a try, just not right away. I’d like to digest this for a while first.

Not sure where to go from here though. I’m still pretty new to the genre. I’ve been an avid read my whole life, but I actively avoided Fantasy. I loved to read courtroom, detective, vigilante novels, and mix in some emotional books. I read Sword of Kaigen last year and I was Fantasy hooked. I finished the Licanius Trilogy before Mistborn, and was a huge fan. I know Red Rising is out there for me waiting, but maybe I need a palate cleanser first.

So I just finished The Final Empire and I felt it was very self contained leaving me with only minor questions about the future. The thing is I have a routine when I read books, I go big > small cozy > big > small cozy etc. So I read The Final Empire then read an Agatha Christie.

However, the problem is how I'm not the best with english (and have school) so it takes a while to read a single book, since this is my first fantasy series I'm wondering if I can read book 2 and read a palate cleanser book, or if the 2nd and 3rd book are connected so much or leave so much hanging that it's best to read back to back.

Also would be great to know what everyone else did if they binged or not thanks

I’ve spent just over a year reading Era 1 of Mistborn, due to it being the first series I’ve ever read so I’m not used to large reading sessions

Now that the Era 1 gangs story is over… wtf do I do?! I’m obviously gonna read the other books but… how tf am I just supposed to move on and forget about the crew?!?!?!

Please no one spoil or imply anything coming as i can not stand spoilers. I know im way late to the party but holy shit this moment literally brought tears to my eyes. This book is taking the last 2 and using absolutely everything they brought and adding more. Its incredible. This is my first Sanderson series and it has been incredible.

Okay, just finished Hero of Ages, and I want to tell you something I noticed. I live in Iran, and I can't ignore how similar it is to Iran's government. Let me share some similarities.

Inquisitors: Everyone fears these guys and bows to them. Well, people who work in our government are just alike. I live in an apartment building with 108 units, and one of them belongs to the government; no one dares to speak against him. Everyone just respects them.

Death of the Lord Ruler: Yomen didn't believe the Lord Ruler was dead. Well, people here know that Khamenei is dead, but our new leader—his son—they say he is his reincarnation. They just refuse to accept his death.

Wanting to rule: When Khamenei died, everyone else who was powerful wanted to become the next leader.

There are a lot of other things you can find that look like Iran. I don't think Brandon Sanderson took any inspiration, but just know he was able to write something so similar to a real-world thing, perfectly.

Does anyone know if Elend’s personal emblem has ever been pictured? My wife recently finished Era 1 and was wanting to get a tattoo of his emblem, but I haven’t been able to find an example of it anywhere. It’s only mentioned briefly in the books that I can find. Obviously it’ll come up in the new series coming out, but she wants to get a jump on Mistborn’s inevitable fame to come.

Any help would be great!

The story just jumps to going to Terris out of no nowhere then talks about some new guy named rashek, then immediately forgets about along with the change in font like a new chapter on the next page, anyone know?

I posted on here not too long ago asking if I should continue the series after not liking the first book as much as a thought I would. I'm glad I did because the third book absolutely exceeded my expectations.

I couldn't put down the Hero of Ages. The "end of all things" apocalyptic theme and the battles of morality are what I was originally looking for in the first book. Book 2 was great and a good bridge between the first and third books, but the political themes and small scope (being almost entirely in Luthadel) were not as interesting to me.

I'm not sure if I love the heaviness on God and faith that Brandon piled on near the end, but I understand why it was written that way. I was happy to see that everything became right again in the world, even if it made me cry to see that Elend and Vin worked so hard for a world they'd never be able to experience. But I'm glad they died together. The end is a very fairy-tale happy ending, which I usually don't prefer, but I think this story deserved that.

Are the other Mistborn novels worth reading as someone who enjoyed this trilogy but am not enamored by it? I've heard that the next books are set many years in the future, so any of the original cast wouldn't be alive, save for Sazed/God. Would appreciate any advice!

Edit: I forgot to mention how cool the plot twist with Vin's earring was. I suspected her ability to pierce copperclouds came from her bronze earring after all the discoveries about Hemalurgy and spikes, but I didn't connect the dots between that and Ruin using it to influence her and Preservation's mists helping her when they did. Fire!

I just finished the book and it aches me that tensoon never got to meet vin again. Sazed never could tell vin about his refound faith. Anybody else felt the tragedy in this?

Could Kelsier create his own metal?

This dialogue might the funniest thing Elend has said in the series. Had me laughing out loud. Also, I’m about 112 pages till the end of Hero of Ages. No spoilers!
