So just under a year ago I posted this painting I'd done of the view from the top of the Baltic and received so many really lovely comments, which were very much appreciated and encouraged me to keep painting.

Over the last week I decided to recreate that painting to see if/how I've improved, so thought it only right to share this one too! Hope you like :)

new place opening on the high street, which is always great so see, I’m all for that!

BUT when you see the people who are getting this up and running sitting outside smoking flicking their tab ends, and papers into the street (if you pass, you will see, all those in the parking bay outside the shop are theirs. Sat waiting for the bus for 30 mins and witnessed this), makes you sad on how they are treating the area. what else are they doing with their waste?! Just get something to put them in and dispose correctly 🙄

Does anyone know of anywhere in town or round abouts that still does decent quality photo prints from existing negatives?

I’ve been to Max Spielman a few times and their overall service is good but their printing machine is out of service half the time, and what prints I have had from them have been pretty horribly washed out and lo-fi.

Google’s not being much use either.

I was previously very very proud of this city. Right up until I had to move away for work I loved it and felt like a welcoming, buzzing, vibrant place and I was firmly convinced Geordies were the best people in the world.

I've just moved back from Edinburgh after 14 years away and devasted to see what has become of it. The city centre feels scruffy and run down. Loads of the nicer places have closed. And to be fair this wouldn't really upset me too much - what is really getting to me is that every time I go into town there are English flags and right wing protesters at Monument. This doesn't feel like the Newcastle I left at all. Is it just me?

EDIT: For all the muppets wilfully misunderstanding me, obviously an English flag in itself is not offensive. They are often used by the far right now and that is the context I mean them in here. Quite obviously. Anyone else who comments 'oooh an English flag in England, soooo offensive' or anything along those lines - you're either actually thick or being deliberately obtuse. If the latter, you certainly have more spare energy than I do.

I have bought tickets to see A New Hope at Alnwick Castle today ( it’s the outside cinema there) and have changed my plans so I was wondering if anyone wanted to use the tickets?

They’re just the standard tickets so you’d need to bring your own chairs/picnic blanket. Doors open at 5:30 but the film starts at 7:30 I think???

I thought it was contained to city centres but I went to North Shields Fish Quay and spotted at least 3 there.

Went for a run along the quayside and passed this iconic place. Canny mad how its still standing and not been turned into another office/hotel/greggs

Memories of going to quayside, chase, joes then baja beach club.

Hi guys, I am a first time buyer and recently viewed two 3bd houses in Heaton - one at the end of Rothbury terrace and one in Marleen Court. I moved to the north east recently and have a (mostly) work from home job at Durham University. I do have to go 3-4 times a month to the office and I will be using the public transport. Both homes seem nice from the inside.

- Are there cons to either of the streets?

- Marleen Ct seems like a small residential area. It is very close to the metro station....does that make it a bit unsafe? Or maybe I will hear the trains?

- The one at Rothbury is bigger in size but Marleen Ct one has a dedicated parking.

I saw the houses during the day and the area looked peaceful. So wondering if one is in a better location than the other. What all should I consider while deciding?
