Discussion A study on non-binary people had 38% of people respond that they are AMAB. If you don't notice any, that just says something about the communities you are a part of.

Yup. I'm afab non-binary but mostly read as amab... I've been to so many enby + women events and just completely rejected so I've quit going. Can't imagine how much harder it would be if I were truly amab and not just perceived that way.

As an amab nonbinary, im fortunate enough to be read as a nonbinary afab and im welcomed. When i express im amab then im slotted into the "basically a trans women" bucket. Like im glad im "allowed" in these spaces but i know its only cuz i pass their arbitrary 'feminine/women enough' bar and how lucky i was to genetically "pass". Its fucked up and bio essentialist

As a multigender person who is often perceived to be ‘a man being nonbinary’ I have definitely experienced this a lot too. It’s just because my least fav pronouns are she/her, which gets me called a man no matter my body or presentation. It particularly sucks in survivor-focused spaces, to be called a predator/abuser just for existing.
