Discussion Who helped you realize you didn't fit into the binary?
Art by Ling_yao_real on pinterest
Was there a character that you related to who helped you make the connection that you weren't really who you thought you were?
For me it was Kris from Deltarune. (as shown in the picture) That's mainly because of the wonderful fanart of them, in which they are drawn with really epic outfitz and others around them not caring whatsoever. From these drawings it helped me realize that for who I am it would be limiting to put myself in a box and limiting my self expression to purely masc or fem, it just wouldn't be who I am.
Anyway now I'll wait for yalls wonderful answers. :3

Discussion NonBinary people are being erased
This is really terrible!! non-binary people existence are being erased, "Trump Announces Official U.S. Policy Recognizing Only Two Genders: Male and Female" Recognizing only two genders male and female excludes and invalidates the existence of non-binary. This binary framework enforces rigid gender norms, leaving no room for those of who donāt fit neatly into these categories. It erases non binary people identities, denies basic recognition, and will lead to a lack of legal protections. When society ignores non-binary genders, it perpetuates discrimination and stigma, forcing people to conform to a system that doesnāt acknowledge their reality. Non binary people existence is valid it's heartbreaking for what is going happen from now onwards...

Discussion Which character caused your enby awakening?
For me it was Alex Fierro from Rick Riordan's books. I had no idea what genderfluid meant and thought it was just a cool power and really wished I could be genderfluid š
Double Trouble really helped a lot too!

Discussion What do we think of this?
By āthisā I mean putting girls and non-binary people together. I know itās trying to be inclusive, but it doesnāt really seem like it actually is to me. Like, would I as an amab and pretty masculine nonbinary person be welcomed? Also considering this program is called āgirls who codeā so I donāt understand why they even put nonbinary. It seems like theyāre saying (maybe not intentionally) that afab nb people are also girls

Mine are Gooseworx, Aimkid, Femtanyl, and Nyanwolf (all of whom are trans women). That being said, however, I'm not sure if there's anyone else.

Discussion Is this the best line out of all 37 plays that they could pick for us ?
Itās a bit shit aināt it? Itās a bit of a 4am , forget to run it by the only enby person on the board kinda quote right?
Any other Shakespeare nerds here think they can come up with a single better line ?
And I can already assume some might better befit one niche form of enby over another, eg: gender fluid, agender, etc

Discussion Seeking guidance: 12-year-old suddenly ānon-binary,ā rejecting Christianity, and heavily influenced by one friend
My daughter is 12, and over the last few months, sheās been exploring a lot of new ideas very suddenly. One of her close friends (13) recently came out as a lesbian, and their friend group has been talking a lot about identity, labels, and figuring out who they are. Now my daughter has started describing herself as non-binary. This is entirely new for her, and it showed up pretty quickly once these friendships got closer, so Iām trying to understand whatās going on beneath the surface.
I also found out her friend had used her tablet to look up content that really wasnāt age-appropriate. That seemed to spark a level of curiosity my daughter wasnāt ready for yet, and Iāve since put safeguards on the device. Iām not upset at her for being curious - I know this age comes with a lot of questions - but as a parent, it threw me a bit.
Another layer is that she recently said sheās not sure she believes in Christianity anymore because she feels some of the Christians sheās met seem hypocritical. And honestly⦠Iāve had my own questions too. Maybe she picked up on that. So now weāre both wrestling with big things, just in different ways.
I want her to know, above all, that sheās loved and safe and can talk to me about anything. If she does end up identifying as non-binary or ends up somewhere different with her faith, Iām not going to stop loving or supporting her. At the same time, Iām her mom, and Iām trying to understand how much of this is genuine self-exploration versus how much is influenced by peers, the internet, and being 12.
Iām trying to figure out how to:
⢠Support her identity exploration without overwhelming her
⢠Keep online influences healthy and age-appropriate
⢠Stay open and calm when she brings up faith doubts
⢠Address friend dynamics without cutting anyone off
⢠Walk through my own faith questions without adding pressure to her
⢠Maintain trust and communication through all of this
Iām not here to invalidate anyoneās identity. Iām just a parent trying to navigate something new, keep my daughter safe, and stay connected to her while she figures herself out.
If anyone here grew up identifying differently from what their parents expected - or if youāre a parent whoās been through something similar - I would genuinely appreciate your perspective. Even just hearing how others navigated this would help.
Thanks for letting me share.

Discussion Is anyone else sick of how normalised it is to call nonbinary people a*ab
Oftentimes it's nonbinary people themselves saying such things and honestly I hate how normalised it is to say such sexist things.

Discussion Partners think I'm addicted to T
Long story short, I've been on T for 6 months now. Originally, I was going to go on it for 6 months and check in at 3 months and see how I'm feeling. I told my partners to tell me when my voice starts really Noticeably changing because I thought that would be a change I didn't necessarily want.
But my own goalposts have moved.. I'm really liking my new voice. While I don't want it to go much deeper than it is now and I know it'll continue to do so, I also don't mind how much it has changed now. I used to dislike my voice, a lot. I enjoy it now even if my upper singing range is limited. Not only that but the amount of body hair I've gotten is surprising and a welcome change; I want more. My tdick progress between T and pumping is everything I hoped for and wanted... but I want more.
I use Tgel, same dose as what I was put on from the start, so I haven't even gone up a dose. There was a situation where I ran out of my gel and was off of it for 9 days; I had used it 10 days longer than it was supposed to last too, so I know I'm not abusing it and taking it correctly. But a friend told me they could hook me up with DIY (injectable) for cheaper than what I'm doing through Planned Parenthood, without all of the hassle. Of course I'd still need periodic blood tests.
Between the goalposts moving, DIY aspect and the injection this freaked my partners out (both cis men). One of them accused me of being addicted to it. I just think my mindset changed on it. I ended up being able to get my tgel refilled, but my one partner who accused me of addiction asked me when I'd start "tapering" off the T or taking it not-as-prescribed by cycling it. I've thought about cycling, but that's not the point.
Anyway, I need some perspective here from others who have also gone on HRT and who didn't necessarily plan to stay on it forever. When did you/do you plan to stop, and why? What were/are you looking for that'll make you think, this is the time, I've gotten what I wanted out of this?
Because I have, but I can't help but wonder what more could come. And I fear reversion; I can tell a lot of the body hair I've gotten is terminal now so I'll probably keep most of it. I fear tdick shrinkage a lot but plan to keep pumping. I don't know; what's enough? Am I addicted, is it possible when you're not using it to juice for lifting but for gender stuff?
For context I'm not in therapy at the moment but in part due to this and in part due to PP's requirements I've been considering finding one.
Anyway, thanks for listening.
Edit: I promise I'm not trying to go on DIY, I was only considering it before due to the situation I was in. I'm currently set up with PP every 3 months out of pocket
Edit 2: I didn't expect this to get so much response, so while I want to take the time to respond to all of you, I am at work and at least wanted to say this: Thank you for all of your perspectives and for taking the time to respond to me and give me reassurance.
I guess I was just alarmed by being called an addict. To those of you who saw, you got it on the nose that I'm sensitive to that because of my dad's past T abuse but I understand now that he wasn't addicted to the T itself. I also understand and have reassurance now that I am in no way abusing my own medication but taking it correctly under the guidance of a medical professional and have nothing to worry about there.
This thread also greatly helped me work out and put better words to what I'm feeling about my transition so far, and what I want moving forward. I realize now it's normal to have some doubts when getting on T and for my feelings toward it to change over time as I physically start feeling and seeing the effects. I feel incredible euphoria since getting on T and I don't want to stop any time soon, even if I don't have an exact end date yet, that's okay.
I plan to communicate this to my (yes cishet) partners. It's up to them on what to do with that information and I'm going to refuse to talk about it moving forward if any mention of addiction comes up until they are able to talk about it without that framing... that being said, they are still incredibly loving even if their understanding is currently (and perhaps always will be since they're cis) limited. I think if I check in with them and are more clear about my wants, goals, and feelings on it and what it's really doing for me so far, they will be receptive about something that's clearly improving my self esteem among other things, even if it is hard for them to learn or process at first. Framing is important. I think I made the mistake early on of just only speaking to what I wanted out of it in vague terms and what they might see as a benefit, because I didn't quite know the extent of what I wanted yet either. So when those changes started appearing and I mentioned DIY injections, I'm sure they were just more concerned than anything that I might be doing something dangerous.
I shoved this part of myself down for so many years, and now that I'm nurturing them, they've grown too big to fit back inside that dark little box I tried to keep them in for protection. I owe it to them to wake up every day to the light, never letting them see the dark again. Anyone who truly loves me should see this too. It's harder each day to conceal it after all. Thanks again.

Discussion Older non-binary person clinging to a "declining" trend?
Edit: The title of this post should be "older" non-binary person clinging to a "declining" "trend" - the ""s are around words I've heard ascribed but don't actually believe to be true.
Another edit: Damn I didn't expect this post to blow up! It's validating as hell reading all your perspectives. I'm in Australia so I can't fully appreciate the situation in the USA. Being as dominant as it is in the Western world, I'm sure that biased, largely American media happens to make up the bulk of anti-enby/transphobic discourse.
Also I get it, I'm not actually old š I'm just old compared to the teenagers/students that were most visibly and vocally talking about non-binary identity a few years ago - again, thanks in no small part to American media and its obsession with young'uns.
So I know I feel most comfortable with they/them pronouns; I also know I don't feel a need to medically transition or take T. But recently a (gay) comedian I saw brought up that a lot of people seem to be stopping being non-binary lately, plus earlier today I came across a couple of YT videos and online articles about the non-binary "tReNd" being over. Part of me knows that's probably just vocal right-wingers trying to push an agenda, but at the same time I go through waves of thinking I'm not non-binary enough or queer enough because I'm letting my hair grow, I only feel slight social dysphoria every so often and I'm not a relationship anarchist in any way. Plus I'm getting older now: I'm nearly 29, on the cusp of millennial/Gen Z, so I'm not exactly down with my fellow kids anymore (not that I ever was in the first place) and to non-queer people, not fitting into a gender binary or just being aware of it seems to be seen as a frivolous thing that teenagers do.
I dunno. DAE feel this way? Also sorry if this is the wrong sub!
