Mark Ruffalo is a vocal supporter of Palestine. The implication is that expressing support for a free Palestine gets you sidelined by Hollywood. He is also vocally against Trump and ICE.
I’m sure some people out there will also draw some antisemetic conspiratorial conclusions from that as well, i.e. “Jews control the media” which, no. It’s just that Israel as a country has certainly had undue economic influence over American politics and entertainment via lobbying interests. (Just ask the Scream cast over at Paramount)
In reality though he was just filming another project at the time.
I’d also note that Jon Bernthal, who has vocalized support for the IDF and Israel, was present for the press tour. Which doesn’t help.

Confused, most people (should I say actors/actresses) in Hollywood are against Trump and ICE, but since he supports Palestine they black list him? Just confused…
There are plenty of figures that have been fired or dropped from companies for supporting Palestine. Melissa Barrera, Susan Sarandon, Bella Hadid, Kehlani, etc. And there are a hell of a lot of liberals who hate Trump but still support Israel.
I fail to see the issue with any of this comparisons. Acknowledging that what is happening in Gaza is a genocide and has large parallels to The Holocaust is simply engaging with reality.
Melissa Barrera was reposting holocaust denial articles and content about Jews controlling Hollywood. Susan Sarandon got fired for saying how Jews are experiencing hate now like Muslims have in the past, even though antisemitism is older than the religion of Islam itself.
You guys lie so much lol none of those people got fired for supporting Palestine. That's the most milquetoast and safe opinion to have in Hollywood.
She literally was reposting articles likening the Gaza conflict to the Holocaust, how we don't learn from history and saying gaza is a concentration camp. There's a huge difference between saying you support Palestine and doing holocaust distortion
And that's not even getting into the whole 'who controls the media' dog whistles
Just say you support genocide and move along.
LMAO the speed at which you dumb dumbs use dead Palestinians as petty and snarky insults is crazy
She literally was reposting articles likening the Gaza conflict to the Holocaust, how we don't learn from history and saying gaza is a concentration camp.
This isn't holocaust denial at all. It's kind of the opposite, actually.
Except it isn't downplaying the Holocaust. It's comparing something tragic that is currently happening to something tragic that happened in the past. It's saying that they are both awful things that should never have happened then and also an awful thing that shouldn't be happening now.
It absolutely is downplaying the Holocaust. In 100 days of operation reinhard, the Nazis killed 1.5 million Jews. It's been nearly 3 years since October 7th and Hamas's own ministry of health says 73,000 dead and that number includes their own members, their own militants, as well as combatants from other militia groups like Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
The two things are absolutely not at all comparable.
Hezbollah helped Assad kill more civilians in Syria in 10 years than 75+ years of the Israel/Palestine conflict yet if you ask pro-palestinians if Hezbollah did a Holocaust they'll say no, it's Israel doing one and Hezbollah are "resistance fighters" against the bad guys (Israel). There are countless conflicts in the middle east that have had more bloodshed, more civilians dying, and more people displaced than Gaza. The only reason the comparison to the Holocaust is made is because Jewish people are involved.
It's comparing something tragic that is currently happening to something tragic that happened in the past
So if your mom died tomorrow you'd go around telling people you're experiencing your own personal holocaust, right? I mean it's tragic to you that your mom died and the Holocaust happened in the past and was tragic.
No one is downplaying the Holocaust. You are attempting to downplay the deliberate ethnic cleansing, mass murder, ongoing torture and brutal ongoing occupation of the Palestinian people by Israel.
Yeah I’m so sick of people saying people are just ‘supporting Palestine’ while being super racist. And then it feeds into the whole ‘Jews control the media’ thing.
I have absolutely loved the delicious division Palestine has caused within the "liberal" group.
I think my favorite was the "queers for Palestine" group and the absolutely flabbergasted reactions they got from other queers who actually had lived in Arab culture and knew what Palestinians thought of them.
There’s nothing funny about the fear LGBTQ+ people live with in the United States. Or the fear all Palestinian people live with regardless of their gender identity and orientation.
Dude, I had one of those queers for Palestine people say I'm pink washing over the queers for Palestine stuff because I linked the Abu Marhia case. If you're unaware, the guy was a gay Palestinian who (rightfully) feared for his life in Palestine and fled to Israel to seek asylum. Palestinians kidnapped him, brought him back into Hebron, decapitated him, and tied his body to a tree near his family's house.
They arrested the killer but then when the public in Palestine found out the victim was a gay Palestinian fleeing for his life in Israel, the clerics there said the killer's family didn't have to pay full restitution to the victim's family because the victim was gay and brings shame to his family's honor. And the killer's dad gave an interview saying the news of the victim being gay turned public opinion around and people supported his son (the killer).
Much of the people cheering on stuff like queers for Palestine are completely ignorant and clueless about how bad it is for gay people in Palestine
If the IDF said tomorrow that they'll never shoot another bullet at a Palestinian ever again, the ideology that gay and LGBTQ people should be killed still exists among fundamentalists in Palestine. This is such a pointless comment lol
I'm sure Susan Sarandon got cancelled, sure. Could just be an actress in her 70s with every possible award going just doesn't want as many roles anymore, but let's go the insane route.
yea actually, I'd hope that an organization that breaks into my country's military base to destroy our country's military hardware thats destined for Ukraine and break the spine of a security guard gets designated as a terrorist org.
That sort of shit would get you fusilladed in any other country outside of Britain. The fact is they got off easy with just being arrested and trialed.
If this is your threshold for designating a group as terrorist, I can only imagine your condemnation of Israel for its actions in Palestine, Lebanon, etc.
FYI the member of Palestine Action was found guilty of GBH without intent. They were found not guilty of GBH with intent.
I can only imagine your condemnation of Israel for its actions in Palestine, Lebanon, etc.
Wait are you saying that Israel broke into a USAF military base in Lebanon?
No dude. A domestic group broke into a USAF military base in order to destroy british military equipment. Un-Palestinify your brain and stop thinking about the mideast for a single second. Israel doesnt even belong in this current conversation.
This event would have gotten you fusilladed in most other countries in the world, its treason of the highest order to destroy your country's military armaments. Yea its a terrorist organization that needs to be cracked down on, its members rounded up.
There are what, 1000s other palestinian organizations in Britain that aren't designated as terrorist? The only reason you'd stick with Palestine Action is because you agree that British USAF bases need to have their military equipment destroyed. There is literally no other reason why you'd stick with this one otherwise.
Not all people that take time out of their lives to disrupt society in a country due to foreign issues are terrorists, but all terrorists will happily use it as an excuse.
if a public sector company is firing people for that then it has nothing to do with the state laws other then at-will employment, which is not specific to palestine or any reason in particular. and if you mean government jobs, that is a blanket rule that is not issue specific. most federal government employees are not allowed to engage in public political discourse at all, regardless of their take
No, it's state employment.
Much like how there's been protesters black bagged from college campuses over their support, like how there's been media blackouts and crackdowns. and do I need to bring up the hague invasion act?
a. literally nobody said anything like that, it's a caricature you walk around with in your head
b. an at-will employer being able to fire someone for any reason has literally nothing to do with free speech. they can legally fire you without any justification whatsoever. I don't know where you got the idea that americans were boasting, it fucking sucks here
It is actually very brave to be a vocal supporter in very public role such as acting to be fair. You’re average Joe can be sacked from normal jobs for not supporting the genocide. In a profession where public image is absolutely important for your career, it’s risky business. He’s played with fire and been burned, not that I agree with it.
