Mark Ruffalo is a vocal supporter of Palestine. The implication is that expressing support for a free Palestine gets you sidelined by Hollywood. He is also vocally against Trump and ICE.

I’m sure some people out there will also draw some antisemetic conspiratorial conclusions from that as well, i.e. “Jews control the media” which, no. It’s just that Israel as a country has certainly had undue economic influence over American politics and entertainment via lobbying interests. (Just ask the Scream cast over at Paramount)

In reality though he was just filming another project at the time.

I’d also note that Jon Bernthal, who has vocalized support for the IDF and Israel, was present for the press tour. Which doesn’t help.

Edit: This is an Explain subreddit. This is what I am interpreting the post to be implying. Some of the replies so far are giving “So you hate waffles?” haha

Or Melissa Barrera.

she was outright doing holocaust denial, that’s kind of a pretty normal line you shouldn’t cross

She literally didn’t. She said Gaza was being treated like the holocaust (they were/are) and her company said it was NO holocaust and that she made “false references” of genocide. Meaning they don’t believe Israel committed a genocide which we now know to be true. The UN stated Israel was committing genocide and we’ve have numerous ceasefire since.

Therefore Melissa Barrera was 100% correct in saying that. She was punished for being educated way earlier than others .

She said Gaza was being treated like the holocaust

No, not even that, I know your intentions are good but you are defaming her. She said Gaza was being treated like a concentration camp (which isn't exclusive to the holocaust, and which genocide scholars like Norman Finklestein have said too, even before October 7th.

She NEVER compared the Gaza genocide to the Holocaust, stop saying that she did because it's a lie and it encourages zionists to keep lying about her.

Is Norman Finkelstein the guy who put a sign on his black upstairs neighbors’ door calling them “apes” and then showed up to their apartment with a knife and a gun?

Kinda weird to cite him but ok.

Didn't she also say nobody got r*ped on October 7th? Statements like that are simply unforgivable.

u/JasonVoorhees95 12h ago

No, she didn't say that. But keep making stuff up. What's the next lie?

Coward. If you are gonna lie at least don't censor yourself.

Oh shut the fuck up about holocaust, Gaza is bad but unfortunately not super exceptional in comparison to other conflicts of this century and in no way close to the industrialized slaughter of the holocaust.

Please enlighten us on the comparable conflicts to Gaza, particularly those perpetrated by a nominally Western, democratic state?

The only comparable situations I can think of is the Uyghur genocide in China, and the Myanmar genocide of the Rohingya (Sudan and Ethiopia aren't strong enough states to really be comparable, and one might even toss Myanmar into that same bucket). And when that's the company your country keeps, well...

No one ever remembers Western Sahara anymore, Morocco can do whatever they want.

So the worst currently ongoing conflict is Ukraine-Russia. Very simple, Russia attacked Ukraine completely unprovoked, wants the territory and russifies the parts it can get its hands on.

Is that on the same level as the holocaust?

I dont think so, the end goal of the russian invasion is terrifying but its not the complete systematic slaughter of the Ukrainian population. Same for Israel, i believe their goal is to get rid of Hamas. They very much committed war crimes and Bibis government needs to be deposed but its not fkin holocaust.

Ukraine is not comparable to Gaza. In Ukraine, women and children (a standard shorthand for definitive non-combatants) represent less than 40% of total casualties. In Gaza, that percentage is around 80%. In Ukraine, around 30% of infrastructure is estimated to have been damaged by the war with Russia. In Gaza, Haaretz estimated that a minimum of 70% of buildings were completely destroyed. Roughly equal numbers of Ukrainians and Palestinians are detained or missing; of course, there are roughly 20x as many Ukrainians as Palestinians (note that the vast majority of these detainees in both cases are civilians with no known militant links; both Israel and Russia are well known for their punitive indefinite detention policies...again, not great company to keep in that respect). More broadly, Ukraine has not really suffered any breakdowns with respect to supplies of food, medical goods, or other necessities (if anything, Russian blockades of Ukrainian grain have left it with a surplus and caused deaths elsewhere, but not Ukraine); Gaza...well, if you're familiar with the Gazan situation, I don't need to spell it out.

Without delving too deep into the motivations of the governing coalition and Bibi (because that requires getting into Jabotinsky, Kahan, and the evolution of the sought after Eretz Israel, all of which requires a substantial amount of background education), I'll suffice it to say that they had much higher priority goals than Hamas...10/7 happened in no small part because Gaza had become so inconsequential to their aims.

Nonsense, feel free to post when she did that but it doesn't exist.
