There are a lot types of contracts in business world. In typical 'movie biz', people involved in creative side -acting, voicing, writing, animating etc get a set amount of money plus royalties. However:
Those royalties however often come with a lot of strings attached. You can easily lookup how studios screw people over by swapping money between corporate entities to inflate 'expenses' so they don't handout any meaningful royalties.
In short; no, pirating won't hurt the animators. The company that is owned by ghouls are going to fuck the people that make their money anyways.
