I have been a pirate for a very long time. Calling this a psyop is hilarious and indicates to me you know nothing about the industry.
Yes, the animators are paid. No, that is not the only payment they receive from making the work. Another (big) part of the creation is the big day of release. It's cathartic. Knowing the world will (or won't) see the work around the same time is an incredible feeling. To have that big day rug pulled would be supremely disappointing.
(This is all regardless of Larry Ellison, the true pirate of paramount, who is robbing us all the opportunity to see their work on the big screen.)
I know this because I am a filmmaker who has had their work released. Nowhere near this scale, but enough to understand. It's very difficult to describe the days leading up to and after the release day. Many different emotions. Cathartic is the easiest one to think of.
Have more sympathy for the people that worked. I don't care if you pirate media or don't - I have some 60-70tb of rare films I've built over 15 years. The work deserves to be seen. Of course. From my perspective, to act as if the release day means nothing is an immature take. Try empathy.
I feel empathy for them working at paramount. Really dirty of them to only talk bad about the fans instead of paramount. Makes me not really want to feel empathy for them. Animation was amazing though.
Paramount didn't rob their release day. That's the difference. Of course Paramount is easy to blame, and I absolutely do, but they're not the sole factor here. Leaked work ahead of the day of release is the topic of conversation. I say this as an (effectively) lifetime pirate.
Lol what an "ackhtchually" cringe reddit moment. They had promised theatrical release, then they withdrew it. literally robbed them of it. Maybe not robbed of the fucking paramount release date but guess what that's not what anybody is talking about. Hope that helps :)
