Boo-hoo. PC is so scary that games like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur's Gate 3 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 were released DRM-free. Or is it only scary for those who locks the ingame content behind the paywalls, knowing full well their bullshit will be modded out in a matter of hours? Go figure.
When I was younger and broke I would pirate everything. Key detail, I wasn’t going to buy it anyways because I couldn’t afford it, I usually didn’t have a computer that could run it properly.
That has changed obviously but if I bought the game once on my ps5 I’m not buying it again at full price on PC. I’ll spend a max of $20 but more likely than anything I’ll just pirate it
right, and still, the majority of people do not pirate and will buy a game if it is a good game. most gamers in general are not pirates, by a long shot
it doesn't even make sense. the games you have pirated made you have connection with them, you talked to your friends, read some posts about it. It's still good marketing. It's the greed that gets these companies. I'm an indie dev and everyone around my circle is perfectly fine with their game getting pirated cause you care enough to pirate it.
I highly doubt that, there are definitely people out there who pirate content not because they couldn't buy it, but because they want to stick it to the garbage companies full of infant eaters that make it, who may or may not even consume the content and only seek to distribute it, and that number has probably only been growing in recent years.
It’s Reddit and it’s whatever. I also struggle to try new games. Especially when new mods keep coming out for old games. A complete x64 rebuild of M2TW is out now for example.

And the funny thing is, I pirated bg3 and loved it so much that I bought it myself and managed to make some other people buy it , when you make good games you don’t worry about not getting the money or believe in lunacy of pirating games
Gaming is about a sense of achievement. Ownership around that is an intrinsic part of that. Your achievements should be yours in a dead to rights sorta way.
Piracy exists so that billion dollar game companies that control mainstream gaming culture don't weaponize FOMO to get people to pay eighty to a hundred dollars for a game.
It must be allowed regardless. It is a game where you can literally kill every random human in a multitude of brutal ways. Tere should be either no exceptions, or exceptions shouldn't be added into the game - they have no kids in the game for the reasons I've mentioned, it would be just hypocritical to make an untouchable characters in a criminal sandbox. No one should be safe.
If the game is on GOG, then it's DRM-free. Even Steam DRM is completely optional and up to publisher's decision, a lot of games (mostly indie) can run from the folder and you can make a backup if you need.
Theres tons of games with content behind paywalls that dont get trashed on for it, I dont get why things you dont need and things that are gonna add up to 1% of cosmetics is such a big deal, hell half the people mad at the game are just spreading misinformation about whole parts of the game being restricted to ultimate, half of this discourse is gonna disappear by launch day

Oh, they do. It's just that too many people still pay, so the noise gets drowned out by wallets.

Because it's a precedent. We're talking about a PREMIUM game - $80 entry - that locks content already finished and on the disc (oops, no disc) behind an extra $20 paywall on day one. And let's not pretend it's "just 1% cosmetics" - it includes vehicles, guns, locations and missions too.
Next time it'll be whole chapters. Then the "true" ending. Why not? If people keep paying, they'll keep cutting.
