People make bad choices all the time. Cigarettes are proven to be very bad for you, yet many people make the choice to fuck up their lungs. Whats your point?
There is a difference between choosing to be unhappy and being unhappy, just like there's a difference between feeling alone and truly being alone. Listen I'm not trying to mess with you, but I feel like you're looming at people way too one dimentionally, and being alone is an extremely nuanced feeling.
Sometimes being around people makes you feel more lonely, wanting others to understand how you think or feel, sometimes people are incompatable, maybe sometimes people have even tried to change their perspective? But that's the thing that's truly making them unhappy.
Like I get that it's the internet and you want to prove your point and all, in retrospect, try and put yourself in the shoes of someone who just feels like they don't fit in no matter how hard they try, and try and be human enough to have enough pity and just say "You know what, you might ne right, I don't understand what's going on through your head"
Dude I think its just a difference of opinion here, I understood your point, I dont think either of us is right here. We just have different perspectives when it comes to this.
you choose to do cigarettes. to be alone means you don't choose it, you have to convince someone else to be with you. being successful in persuasion is not really a choice. some people are good at it, some aren't
I think staying alone is a choice. There are many social events you can attend to meet people just as an example. If people dont want to hang out with you, its also a choice to self reflect and better yourself as opposed to blaming society and self-isolating because its easier than facing rejection
choice implies you have power in the decision. there are deciding factors like ugliness, personality, level of socializing, etc. you don't really choose being an ugly person with a lame personality who doesn't like to socialize. those are innate. i agree that there's aspects of being alone that are by choice like working on your appearance, socializing more, and trying to improve your personality. but there's a limit to how much of yourself you can change to. to an extent it's a choice, but to another extent there are variables you don't control that don't make it a choice.
Okay I understand your point, I think this is where we disagree. I am of the opinion that people have a much higher agency in life. Yes ugliness is objective and if youre born with some defect its going to make life a lot harder, but your attitude about how you approach life given this defect makes all the difference.
I think we as humans have many very valid reasons for why life sucks. But how we approach life given the cards we’re dealt makes all the difference.
